Chapter 033 The Young Master – “The young master swiftly planted a kiss on his cheek, touching and withdrawing in an instant.” (33/35)
Not just the viewers watching the livestream, even the other guests at the venue were stunned.
What did they just witness? A public confession? A confession in the second episode??
Did Wen Xusheng and Shi Jingge come here for a variety show?
No! They didn’t!
They came here to date!
Wen Xusheng was clearly here to pursue someone!!
>> Holy shit, holy shit, I’m speechless! I mean, I’m totally shipping them, but I never expected the confession to happen this soon! <<
>> Brother Wen! Brother Wen is the best! Go Brother Wen!! Is my Brother Wen about to marry into a wealthy family?! <<
>> Say yes! Say yes!! <<
>> How can these two be so perfectly matched?! <<
>> I get it now! That’s why Brother Wen joined this cohabitation show—he had ulterior motives all along!! <<
>> Holy crap, I see it too! No wonder the Young Master joined this show—he was totally lured in by Brother Wen!! <<
>> OMG speaking of which, remember when Brother Wen and the Young Master wore matching jackets in the first episode? <<
>> I remember! I remember! Brother Wen even said he dragged the young master to buy them together? Of course, nobody believed him back then… but now… Holy crap! <<
>> My Brother Wen is actually a scheming mastermind! <<
>> My young master is perfect in every way, but he’s just too innocent and adorable. Falling into the clutches of Brother Wen, this big demon lord—he’ll be eaten down to the last bone! <<
>> Aaaah, Young Master, show some reaction!! I’m dying here!! <<
>> I feel like I’m the one confessing right now—so anxious, so anxious! <<
Not just the viewers in the livestream were anxious; even the guests on set were on pins and needles!
Where’s the reaction? Give us something, Young Master! Everyone’s waiting!
But no matter how frantic the onlookers grew, the two main characters remained perfectly composed.
Wen Xusheng held his pose, not moving an inch, just quietly watching Shi Jingge.
Shi Jingge, meanwhile, stared fixedly at the gift. The moon and stars, inlaid together, intertwined and protected each other, as if they would never part for all eternity.
This gift felt strangely familiar to Shi Jingge—so familiar it brought tears to his eyes.
Shi Jingge couldn’t explain it. The instant he saw the gift, a torrent of overwhelming emotion surged to the tip of his heart. A wave of bittersweetness washed over him, carrying an indescribable joy and the relief of a long-awaited reunion, as if his very soul was singing in response.
He found himself unable to refuse, utterly powerless to do so.
Because he didn’t want to refuse.
Shi Jingge slowly extended his hand, inch by inch toward Wen Xusheng. Wen Xusheng didn’t look at his hand, only fixed his gaze steadily on his eyes.
Shi Jingge’s fingertips trembled, almost pulling back. Then, flustered and annoyed, he glared fiercely at Wen Xusheng. Seeing Shi Jingge’s flustered, annoyed expression, Wen Xusheng’s lips curved upward in a faint smile.
Shi Jingge glowered at him again, yet inexplicably, his own lips also turned up at the corners.
Those around them held their breath, watching the scene with intense focus.
The viewers gathered before the livestream screen slowed their breathing, afraid to disturb Shi Jingge and Wen Xusheng.
Shi Jingge’s hand finally touched the gift.
In that instant, everyone’s heart skipped a beat. Even the livestream’s bullet comments slowed down. The once dense stream of messages, so thick you couldn’t see the screen, now dwindled to just a handful.
Amidst this moment of intense focus, Shi Jingge finally spoke, “I—” Shi Jingge bit his lower lip. “I merely like this gift.” His face flushed as he emphasized, “Since it’s meant for gift-giving, if no one accepts it, the gift would… it would be rather pitiful.”
The young master forced a logical justification, and in an instant, the livestream chat exploded with screams of all kinds.
Shi Jingge accepted it!
ShengGe is real!
Their ship has sailed!!
Wen Xusheng’s eyes crinkled, choosing not to expose the young master. He simply asked, “What about mine?”
Shi Jingge hesitated, gritted his teeth, and closed his eyes before pulling a small box from his pocket.
It was made from materials obtained from the production team, somewhat rough. The corners didn’t quite align, and splinters remained unpolished. Yet among all the gifts today, it was the only one with any wrapping at all.
When Wen Xusheng took the box, he felt an overwhelming sense of ceremony.
To borrow a phrase from the bullet comments:
>> Now that’s a gift! <<
Wen Xusheng opened the box slowly, his movements tinged with reverence.
Before him lay a necklace. It was strung on a cord, its weave intriguing: five strands of different colors braided together. Where the pendant should hang, a space was left, ready to hold the charm. And the charm, naturally, was a star.
Compared to the ordinary-looking star in Wen Xusheng’s gift, the star Shi Jingge had given clearly demanded immense time and effort. Most of the materials used had gone into it, resulting in a visually exquisite piece.
Wen Xusheng slipped the necklace around his own neck, then lifted the star pendant. “Do you like it?”
Shi Jingge turned his head away, grudgingly replying, “It’s okay.”
“I think it’s beautiful,” Wen Xusheng said, his eyes crinkling. “I really like it. Thank you.”
Shi Jingge lowered his head, falling silent.
A long while passed. Just as the director picked up the microphone, ready to make a celebratory speech for wrapping up the day’s shoot, Shi Jingge suddenly stood up and walked over to Wen Xusheng.
“My heart is very small. It can only hold one star.”
Wen Xusheng looked down at him.
Shi Jingge looked up at him.
In that instant when their eyes met, they could clearly see their own reflections in each other’s eyes.
>> Ahhhhhh this is fucking official, right? <<
>> Holy shit, is this even something I deserve to see? <<
>> Help!! Today is another day I cry for a breathtaking love story!! <<
>> Mutual feelings! It’s definitely mutual feelings!! <<
>> Ahhh mutual secret crushes are the most epic!! <<
Not only did the livestream’s comments explode, but Weibo, forums, and other public social platforms blew up too.
#ShiJingGeWenXuSheng# shot straight to the top of the trending topics, climbing at an alarming rate. Countless CP shippers spread the news like wildfire—they actually made it real!
The ShengGe CP ladies were overjoyed, vowing to pull all-nighters to churn out 20,000-word confessional or newlywed fics to celebrate. This was their babies’ confession anniversary!!
And then, a major sweet moment exploded.
Peace and Safety Are the Greatest Blessing V: >> AAAAH I’VE SEEN THIS GUY BEFORE!! Back when a certain production team had a set visit event, I finally snagged a spot but got separated from my bestie—you all know what that seat arrangement meant, right? Well, this guy was sitting right next to me!
He didn’t have any fan gear, and I had no idea who he was there to see. I just swapped some extra, useless fan items with him. He switched seats with my bestie—his spot was way up front, hers was way in the back. You know how it is.
He was dressed super discreetly, wearing a mask and everything, but you just couldn’t hide that great aura and sharp features. So my friend and I kept glancing over at him. He was hunched over writing on his fan gear, but he didn’t seem happy with it, like he was mad at himself. He even pinched himself lol.
When the production crew arrived, someone spilled bubble tea on him, and then he got ushered away. I was totally focused on my idol at the time, so I didn’t pay much attention. Later we found out Wen Ge was filming a special cameo scene on set.
So who do you think this guy came for? Need I say more? [Image][Image] <<
These two photos were clearly snapped surreptitiously. Shi Jingge wore a mask and hat, holding a blank fan, likely a fan gift.
He was intently writing something, sunlight streaming through the car window onto him. Though blurry, it carried a certain aura.
—Devotion.
In an instant, countless people exploded.
>> Did anyone notice how this young master’s vibe resembles Brother Wen’s appearance just now? <<
>> Could this be the husband-husband aura? <<
>> Has anyone noticed how exquisitely detailed the young master’s stars are? Because stars represent Brother Wen. Yet in Brother Wen’s gift, the moon is a thousand times more intricate than the stars—and in Brother Wen’s heart, the moon represents the young master. What does this signify? It means that in each other’s eyes, the other is the most important!! <<
>> Ahhhhh what kind of divine love is this?! <<
>> I’m dying from shipping overload, I’m dying!! <<
Amidst this joyous world of CP fans reveling, only Shi Rongqing’s expression remained grim. Minutes later, he exhaled a heavy breath, his eyes flashing with a murderous glint.
Wen… Xu… Sheng…
You think you can just sweep our Shi family’s little prince off his feet so easily?
Hmph.
The air around Shi Rongqing felt frozen solid, chillingly terrifying. Aunt Bai cast a worried glance at him and sighed.
It took Shi Rongqing a full half-hour to regain his composure before picking up his phone to contact friends.
“Hello? My kid’s suddenly got the urge to work hard. Find him some classes—anything related to showbiz, really. Throw in some basic business lessons too, if you can.”
“Hello? Old Lu, my kid wants to become an agent. See if any of the agents you’re managing would be willing to mentor him. I’m counting on you for this.”
“Hello, Old Su. My kid wants to break into showbiz as an agent. I’d like him to shadow your production crew first, just to get a taste of the real world. Better than him giving up after a few days.”
“How could I not let him? He’s an adult now, not some seven- or eight-year-old kid. If I hold him back, I’d be ruining his future!”
“Oh, and sign him up for calligraphy lessons too. Look at that messy handwriting—it makes me cringe for him!”
“There are twenty-four hours in a day. Ten hours for sleep, two for meals, one for rest, two for commuting… that leaves nine hours. Studying for nine hours—is that too much?”
Shi Rongqing made a round of calls, then hung up his phone with gritted teeth.
Trying to snatch away my little prince? Well, that depends on whether I agree!
Shi Rongqing opened WeChat. Seeing Wen Chenyu’s profile picture, his blood boiled.
Not a single Wen is any good!
Blocked.
What stung the most was that he, Wen Xusheng, was the same man he’d personally introduced to Xiao Ge.
Shi Rongqing clutched his chest. Brother, oh little brother, my heart aches!
Aunt Bai rushed over, asking cautiously, “Young Master, what’s wrong? Should we go to the hospital?”
Shi Rongqing shook his head, utterly exhausted. “Just get me a bottle of quick-acting heart medicine.”
Aunt Bai gasped. “Xiao Wang! Xiao Wang, take Young Master to the hospital! His heart’s not right! Quick! This can’t wait!”
Shi Rongqing: “…”
In the end, Shi Rongqing still sent people to pick up his precious little prince. Then he spotted that detestable Wen Xusheng right beside his little prince.
Shi Rongqing growled under his breath and stepped forward to lead the young master away.
Shi Jingge glanced back at Wen Xusheng, who immediately followed after them.
Shi Rongqing could’ve smashed Shi Jingge’s head in.
Shi Rongqing halted, shooting Wen Xusheng a look that was both a smile and not a smile, a look that was truly brimming with murderous intent.
“Xiao Ge, I found you a teacher. I’ll take you to meet them shortly,” Shi Rongqing said casually.
Shi Jingge froze. “Huh?”
“Huh what?” Shi Rongqing looked at him sternly. “Wasn’t it you who said you didn’t want to be a spoiled rich kid?”
Shi Jingge nodded obediently.
“Wasn’t it you who said you wanted to be an agent?”
Shi Jingge nodded again.
Shi Rongqing raised an eyebrow. “Then let me ask you: Do you know what an agent should do? How much professional knowledge do you possess? Do you know how to cultivate talent? Do you know how to liaise with production teams? You know none of this—how do you expect to become an outstanding agent?
“Those idols clearly have talent and ability. Yet under your guidance, their brilliance is obscured. Doesn’t that make you sad? Doesn’t it break your heart?”
Shi Jingge nodded emphatically. Of course it hurt.
“Then that settles it.” Shi Rongqing sighed. “We’re starting late, so we have to learn by working overtime. I’d rather see you struggle now than watch you suffer helplessly in the future.”
“So, do you want to meet the teacher?” Shi Rongqing asked again.
Shi Jingge obediently nodded. “Yes.”
Shi Rongqing felt satisfied, flashing a victorious smile at Wen Xusheng. “Alright, Xiao Ge, say goodbye to Mr. Wen. I’ll take you to meet the teacher,” Shi Rongqing said casually.
Wen Xusheng’s heart skipped a beat. Judging by Shi Rongqing’s attitude, would he ever see Xiao Ge again?
But Wen Xusheng wasn’t a fool. He knew that saying one more word now would only rub salt in Shi Rongqing’s wounds, making it even more unlikely he’d ever see Xiao Ge again.
He could only concede for now. Thankfully, he still had his phone for video calls. Wen Xusheng sighed heavily inwardly.
“Well… goodbye?” The young master tilted his head up and said to Wen Xusheng.
Wen Xusheng smiled at him. “Yes, take care.” After a pause, he couldn’t resist asking, “Will I see you tomorrow?”
The young master’s lips curved upward as he muttered, “Who wants to see you tomorrow?”
Wen Xusheng stared intently at the boy’s retreating figure. Shi Rongqing, holding Shi Jingge’s hand, felt refreshed and invigorated.
Unfortunately, Shi Rongqing’s happiness lasted less than two minutes. The young master suddenly let go of his hand and ran back.
Shi Rongqing: “?”
The young master ran to Wen Xusheng’s side, tugged at his sleeve, and said, “Look down.”
Wen Xusheng, puzzled, lowered his head.
The young master swiftly planted a fleeting kiss on Wen Xusheng’s cheek before he could react.
Mid-stride, the young master halted. Without turning back, he called over his shoulder, “What are you staring at?! I’ll kiss whoever I want!!”
Then he sped up.
As if fleeing.
Wen Xusheng watched his retreating figure, his fingers lightly tracing the spot where the young master had kissed him, his eyes brimming with warmth and tenderness.
Shi Rongqing: “…”
Extra classes! Double the classes!! Add three more subjects!!!
Nine hours of study a day isn’t enough? Twelve hours is the minimum!!
Study until you drop, no matter what!! Study until you drop!!!
