PTBLSI chapter 33

Don’t Look

The private hospital ward didn’t smell of disinfectant or medicinal odors. The heating system kept the room at a constant temperature. After spending a long time inside, Qi Xi forgot that it was a hospital room.

The moisture clinging to his lips cooled in the air, losing the warmth from when Fu Yanchuan had sucked and ground against them. He looked at Fu Yanchuan, pressed his lips together lightly, leaned closer, and asked, “Do you like it?”

Fu Yanchuan didn’t move, allowing Qi Xi to grab his hand. Through the fabric of the hospital gown, his palm felt warm. Qi Xi was so close that he could have bitten Fu Yanchuan’s lips just by opening his mouth. Knowing exactly what he was talking about, Fu Yanchuan asked back, “Like what?”

Qi Xi’s cheeks were red, flushed like ripened fruit. He took a deep breath, but his voice was still as soft as a mosquito’s when he answered, “Like you touching me—”

Fu Yanchuan didn’t catch the rest. He let out an extremely brief chuckle and remained silent. Qi Xi looked up at him, utterly bewildered. The hand that Qi Xi had pinned down finally moved. The other hand clamped around Qi Xi’s neck, pressing firmly against his throat.

Qi Xi let out a hoarse whimper. His hands clutched at him, trembling lightly, like a young beast that could only survive by clinging to him. He was so obedient that it made one’s heart ache and stir up wicked thoughts.

“Qi Xi.”

He suddenly called Qi Xi’s name. Only after Qi Xi opened his eyes did he continue, “Do you like it?”

Bullied until he felt wronged, Qi Xi answered, “Like what?”

“Like me—”

Fu Yanchuan stopped halfway. Qi Xi’s heart jolted violently. Then, leaning close to Qi Xi’s ear, Fu Yanchuan continued, “Touching you like this.”

In an instant, Qi Xi dropped the thought that had suddenly popped into his head earlier. He moved closer and hid his face against Fu Yanchuan’s chest and said, “How am I supposed to answer when you ask like that?”

Fu Yanchuan was still wearing a suit. He sat on the hospital bed with one leg bent up. Qi Xi leaned against him, facing Fu Yanchuan with his legs stretched out toward the other side of the bed.

Suddenly, Fu Yanchuan hooked Qi Xi’s waist and pulled him over, positioning him in the space created by his bent leg. Qi Xi leaned against his chest. Because of the sudden movement, Qi Xi instinctively wrapped his arms around Fu Yanchuan’s waist and asked, “Why did you suddenly pull me?”

Fu Yanchuan lowered his head until it was right by Qi Xi’s ear, his breath blowing into it. “You still haven’t said whether you like it.”

Embarrassed, Qi Xi was too embarrassed to answer or look at Fu Yanchuan. However, Fu Yanchuan’s words made it seem like an answer was necessary. He lowered his eyes, hesitating about what to do, when he suddenly realized that he was completely exposed and that Fu Yanchuan’s hand was there as well.

He realized something and abruptly raised his head. Sure enough, Fu Yanchuan followed his gaze downward and stared straight at what was in his hand.

He had read comics before, but they always had things covered up. He had also studied human anatomy, but never in this state, never so directly thrust into his view. The few times he had handled it himself, he hadn’t dared to look closely, always feeling that it was like an indescribable monster that couldn’t be looked at directly.

In an instant, it felt like a skyrocket shooting straight to the top of his head. He hurriedly pulled down the hem of his clothes to cover it and bent his whole body downward to block Fu Yanchuan’s line of sight.

“Don’t look!”

Fu Yanchuan also felt that he might have overreacted. He propped himself up to wipe Qi Xi’s tears, but the more he wiped, the more tears fell, as if he had done something unforgivable. Leaning down, he kissed the corner of Qi Xi’s peach-blossom eyes, licking away a tear and promising, “If you don’t want me to look, then I won’t. Don’t cry.”

Qi Xi sniffled and said in a thin, hoarse voice, “Hurry up.”

Fu Yanchuan didn’t know how someone could make him laugh and feel heartache at the same time. He pulled the blanket over them, held Qi Xi by the throat, and kissed him, biting his lip as he asked, “Is this okay?”

Qi Xi’s face instantly flushed red again. He let out a soft laugh, kissed him back, and left no chance for Fu Yanchuan to think about what he had said.

In the end, Fu Yanchuan let go of Qi Xi to get some tissues. However, Qi Xi pushed him away, hid in the bathroom, and locked the door.

There was a mirror in the bathroom. When Qi Xi saw his reflection, the image Fu Yanchuan had mentioned suddenly popped into his mind—Fu Yanchuan forcing him in front of the mirror and making him look at himself.

So shameful!

Qi Xi got angry at the Fu Yanchuan in his imagination. He crouched in a corner where he couldn’t see the mirror, but the images in his head wouldn’t stop. His face turned red, as if blood were about to burst through his skin.

He really hated Fu Yanchuan. How could he be like something straight out of a comic!

Even though he hadn’t done anything, Fu Yanchuan wiped his hands clean and stood in front of the bathroom door for a while. He didn’t hear the sound of running water or any other movement. Feeling uneasy, he called out, “Qi Xi?”

Qi Xi didn’t answer. For the first time, Fu Yanchuan reflected on himself. Then he said, “I was just saying earlier. I wouldn’t do that. Open the door and let me in, or come out.”

Fu Zhenrong walked to the door. As soon as he pushed open the door, he heard Fu Yanchuan’s voice and thought he was hallucinating. He had been Fu Yanchuan’s father for 28 years and had never heard him speak to anyone like this.

Fu Yanchuan suddenly turned around. Qi Xi’s condition had stabilized, and no one dared to open the door and go in carelessly. When he glanced over and saw Fu Zhenrong, he wasn’t surprised. He turned around, walked to the door, and blocked Fu Zhenrong from entering.

Seeing that Fu Yanchuan wasn’t letting him in, Fu Zhenrong laughed. “I heard you stayed here guarding him all night. I thought it was fake. Looks like you really like him.”

“If this is about Fu Yuejiang, the one who forced him there wasn’t me. It was himself.”

Fu Zhenrong let out a breath. “You bought his plane ticket. You say it wasn’t you? He’s your brother; you both share the same surname. Did I ever teach you to be so ruthless toward your own family?”

In fact, once Fu Yuejiang arrived, he could have left the country at any time. Fu Yanchuan didn’t have much of a reach overseas. He couldn’t really stop Fu Yuejiang wherever he wanted to go.

Fu Zhenrong and Fu Cong were both very clear about it. Fu Yanchuan had merely pointed Fu Yuejiang toward a dead end. Fu Yuejiang had barely been clinging to life, but with that single point, he might truly not want to live anymore.

Fu Yanchuan stared straight at Fu Zhenrong and replied, “You never taught me that. You only taught me that when faced with immeasurable benefits, I should use any means necessary.”

“What are you trying to say?”

Fu Zhenrong had never heard Fu Yanchuan speak to him in this tone before. He said angrily, “Immeasurable benefits? What is it? The one inside? What benefit has he brought you? Who are you using any means necessary against? Me?”

Fu Yanchuan didn’t move or speak. Fu Zhenrong suddenly laughed at him. “Back then, you did it for Qin Hui, an outsider. Now, you’re doing it again for that little thing of yours! You’ve always fallen for the naive and pure type. Did you forget what I told you before?”

Fu Yanchuan calmly replied, “I won’t marry a woman. As for who I’m with, that’s not your decision to make.”

This time, Fu Zhenrong really laughed. He didn’t care if Fu Yanchuan was with a man or a woman.

However, as the heir of the Fu family, Fu Yanchuan should leave an heir. That was his responsibility and obligation.

What he laughed at was the fact that this was the first time Fu Yanchuan had opposed him so firmly.

Glancing toward the bathroom door, he said to Fu Yanchuan, “You can try it. See if you end up like Qin Hui in this thorny Fu family.”

Fu Yanchuan remained silent and unmoving. Fu Zhenrong gave him one last sidelong look, then turned and left.

Qi Xi had been frightened by Fu Zhenrong and had even forgotten to stay angry with the Fu Yanchuan in his imagination. Hearing Fu Zhenrong’s voice, he didn’t dare go out. He pulled the door open a crack, but Fu Zhenrong happened to look over. He hurriedly shut the door again.

He only came out of the bathroom after confirming that Fu Zhenrong had left. He went to Fu Yanchuan’s side and looked out. Fu Zhenrong was already gone. He asked Fu Yanchuan, “Who was that just now? Why was he so fierce?”

“My dad.”

Fu Yanchuan answered with two flat words. Qi Xi’s eyes widened in shock. “Did he not allow you to find a stand-in? Generally speaking, this isn’t a good thing. It really shouldn’t be done. Especially you—even if it’s a stand-in, you should treat me more gently.”

Fu Yanchuan was immediately amused. “Not angry anymore?”

Looking at his handsome face, Qi Xi said forgivingly, “Can’t you not look in the future? We can turn off the lights, stay under the blanket, or cover your eyes!”

“What if I look?”

If he looked, it would certainly be embarrassing. Qi Xi felt that Fu Yanchuan really wasn’t shy at all. He asked incredulously, “Do you even look at your own?”

Fu Yanchuan was actually stumped by that question. He hadn’t deliberately paid attention to it before. As for one of his own body parts, whether he looked or not didn’t stir any emotion.

Suddenly, Qi Xi said with great disdain, “You’re so perverted! You even look at your own body!”

For the first time, Fu Yanchuan was left speechless by someone else’s words.

That night, Fu Yuejiang boarded the plane. While Fu Yanchuan and Qi Xi were eating, his sixth uncle stopped by.

Back then, his sixth uncle was the one who fought Fu Zhenrong the fiercest. Now, the other Fu family members only wanted their grandsons to inherit from Fu Yanchuan. Only his sixth uncle still wanted to bring him down and take the position himself.

He had come to see him because of Fu Yuejiang, to see if he was truly going to oppose Fu Zhenrong.

“Yanchuan, you’re just eating now?”

There was a special table for meals in the ward. To avoid filling the room with smells, the door was open.

Hearing the voice, Fu Yanchuan raised his eyes. His sixth uncle was wearing casual clothes, as if he had come for a walk. He looked kindly at Qi Xi and asked, “This little friend, are you feeling better?”

Qi Xi didn’t know who he was, but he looked a bit like Fu Yanchuan and wasn’t as fierce as his father. He immediately felt that the other person must be good and quickly replied, “My name is Qi Xi. I’m much better already. Thank you, Grandpa.”

Fu Yanchuan put down his chopsticks, stood up, and stood in front of Qi Xi. He looked toward the person at the door and asked, “Sixth Uncle, you didn’t come just to see Qi Xi, did you?”

His sixth uncle was named Fu Jinshen. He smiled twice and said, “Not really. I was just passing by and wanted to ask what happened with Yuejiang.”

Not wanting to beat around the bush, Fu Yanchuan asked directly, “Sixth Uncle, would you consider cooperating with me?”

Fu Jinshen’s gaze sharpened as he stared at Fu Yanchuan without answering. Fu Yanchuan continued, “I never chose to be the Fu family heir, and I don’t want to be. Sixth Uncle must understand what I mean.”

He understood but didn’t believe it. He laughed it off. “You kids are getting better and better at joking around.”

“I’m not joking. You know about my mom’s situation. I’ve never forgiven him.”

Qi Xi instinctively felt that Fu Yanchuan was talking about something important and was about to listen carefully when Fu Yanchuan suddenly turned back to him and said, “Go find Doctor Li and get the evening medicine. He’s in his office.”

“Huh? Oh.”

Qi Xi felt regretful about missing something important. He glanced at Fu Jinshen and went out.

Doctor Li was the same doctor from his first visit. Qi Xi already knew where the office was and ran straight over. Doctor Li said the medicine would be delivered, but Qi Xi didn’t think much about it. Since he was already there, though, he took it himself.

When he returned to the ward, Fu Jinshen was already gone. Qi Xi didn’t pay much attention and continued eating with Fu Yanchuan.

By the time someone came to collect the dishes, it was almost eight o’clock. Seeing Fu Yanchuan tidying his coat, he couldn’t help asking, “Brother Yan, are you going back tonight?”

Seeing the obvious reluctance in Qi Xi’s eyes, Fu Yanchuan hung the coat back up and asked instead, “Do you want me to go back?”

“No.”

Qi Xi pounced over and hugged Fu Yanchuan. Fu Yanchuan replied, “There’s no bed here for me to sleep in.”

“There is!” Qi Xi looked at his hospital bed. “You can sleep on my bed, just like last night.”

Fu Yanchuan didn’t say anything. Qi Xi hurriedly promised, “I’ll sleep right on edge. I won’t squeeze you. Don’t go, okay?”

“Reason.”

Fu Yanchuan only gave him one word. After thinking for a long time, Qi Xi said frankly, “I want to sleep with you.”
