Parenting principles

Thank you @Kimunchi. Here is another update <3

Recently, President Min has learned to smile with his eyes. Although still terrifying in his appearance, it was not as creepy as before. However, other people who were not familiar with President Min would be sting by that smile. If that’s the case, it’s not that President Min has changed, it’s that Jun-Kyung has gotten used to it.

Jun-Kyung wanted to order a drink but decided not to since drinking and driving wasn’t good. He didn’t want to have a secretary bring them back home.

“It’s okay. Order it.”

“How about driving?”

“It is a hotel. You can rest until the alcohol wears off.” President Min didn’t care too much, so Jun-Kyung nodded his head involuntarily.

A bottle of pure Chinese liquor came out with the dish. During the meal, President Min mainly talked about the company, and Jun-Kyung talked about his classmates. President Min was popular among his peers. On days when President Min is included in the gathering, not only does the food and liquor quality rise vertically, but it is also free, so there’s no way he wouldn’t be popular.

The main topic was Mina. Jun-kyung was dissatisfied that President Min was too weak against her.

“Don’t indulge Mina too much. She gets spoiled.”

“She’s still a baby.”

“The kids from other families aren’t that stubborn. She is too much.”

“It will change as she grow up.”

“It wont change if you continue raising her like that,” Jun-Kyung replied.

“I…” President Min, who had been eating well, put down his chopsticks. It was a serious talk.

“I want Mina to grow up without any shortcomings. I am not talking about the material side. I’m talking about the parents’ unconditional love.”

“If you say so…”

“There is only one thing I want from Mina. That is that she doesn’t bully someone who is weaker than herself. Regarding that, did I not scold her whenever she did something wrong?”

That’s right. An incident from the past flashed into Jun-Kyung’s mind. It was the first day he went to an indoor playground with Mina.

President Min was taking pictures with his mobile phone of his daughter. Perhaps she was nervous in her own way, Mina barely greeted a boy of the similar size as her. Then she held out her doll she had taken to show to the boy.

“Ahhh.” The boy tugged at the doll as if it were a given. It was an ordinary reaction to an infant.

Since she’s only met adults who complimented her on how cute she was as she handed out a doll, Mina was surprised to have her doll taken away by someone who she met first in her life.

“Oh, what are you doing?”

As soon as Jun-kyung started screaming, the mother of the boy came running and scolded her child. The mother scolded the boy for taking other people’s things carelessly. She didn’t scold Mina at all, so Jun-Kyung tried to scold Mina for pushing her friend.

However, President Min stepped in first.

“Min Ah-young.”

Mina was startled by the low and firm manner in which her name was called.

Even though her face was frowning and tears welled up, President Min did not back down. On the contrary, he pushed away Mina who was acting cutely to ask him not to be angry.

“Apologize to your friend quickly.”

“Oh, no. My child stole her toy on his own. Don’t blame her too much.” In the harsh atmosphere, the boy’s mother stopped President Min as if she was embarrassed.

Jun-Kyung also stood up. “Mina will understand.”

“No. You haven’t apologized yet.” Whether she understood or not yet, President Min seriously explained what she had done wrong and explained why she couldn’t do that, which frightened Mina even more. Equally frightened, Mina made sure to apologize to the crying baby.

“Hugggg.” In the end, Mina who was crying equally was forced to hug the crying child. Then, she immediately fell into Jun-Kyung’s arms. The doll was already on the back burner.

After that, she did not leave the playground, but when another child came and touched her doll, Mina only glanced at President Min and did not get annoyed or push the children away.

It was the proper discipline. President Min didn’t raise the voice or scold harshly.

However, when Jun-Kyung thinks of President Min’s body and voice which scares most adults… Jun-kyung was worried inside that it would be almost traumatic for Mina.

“At that time, it was too strict.”

“I made it as soft as possible.”

That was as soft as possible? With that standard, President Min would be reported for child abuse if he got angry properly. Well, Jun-Kyung will step in anyway if he crosses the line.

Anyway, President Min appealed to Jun-Kyung that he has his own parenting principles, so Jun-Kyung also agreed to some extent. As far as Jun-Kyung knows, President Min does not tolerate bullying or harassing animals, if nothing else.

Jun-Kyung wondered if it was necessary to keep the education this strict, even though it was a necessary education for a 4th-generation conglomerate with great wealth and power. Even if the doll was taken away by another child, she was not allowed to get angry. Sometimes, Jun-Kyung felt unfair on behalf of Ah-young.

Instead, President Min accepted the rest of Mina’s temper and stubbornness. He went so far as to tell her not to bully the other kid and to bully her dad instead.

It is at first glance similar to home education at other homes, which instructs the child to not hold back and tell the parent when someone does wrong to you. However, Jun-Kyung couldn’t stop feeling something strange.

“Why is that?” He impatiently asked for the reason. Normally, he keeps quiet but when it comes to his daughter, Jun-Kyung can’t stand it well.

“Mina is very special. It’s okay for her personality to be a bit sharp and she can be a bit mean with adults. But she can’t bully the weak or the child. If the victim is a child, they cannot properly express their resentment. And if Mina gets into any trouble, there’s a chance she’ll make things up in her favor.”

Is this the rumored President Hyun-Seung Min who would die for his daughter. Aside from being blindly fond of her, it is that he doesn’t completely trust Mina. President Min was a person Jun-Kyung didn’t know even after two years.

“You promised to give her unconditional love.”

“That’s a different matter. I’m sure you’ll fill in what I lack in that area.”

“It’s too one-sided.” Jun-Kyung frowned and protested.

“Sorry. There are no concessions regarding this educational policy.”

President Min thoroughly follows Jun-Kyung’s policy regarding education on trivial habits and other manners, so it would be okay to concede at least one major premise. What’s more, President Min’s rules were not immoral. On the contrary, they were very good standards.

As President Min said, it was an environment where it was easy for Mina to become a cunning liar. Her personality is also on the eccentric side, and there is a chairman who believes Mina’s every word.

Also, on days when Mina was being scolded, President Min made sure to play with her diligently before going to bed so that the child’s mood would not last until the next day. That made it all the more difficult for Jun-Kyung to meddle.

“Still, toys are banned for the time being. The playroom is so messy. Even if they are ten housekeepers, they wouldn’t be able to clean it up.”

“Okay, but if the playroom is too small and overflows with things, should we move to a new spacious housee?”

“Ha.” Sometimes Jun-Kyung can clearly feel the difference in mindset. If the house is cluttered, don’t weed out things and just change the house.

After marrying the heir to the great chaebol, Jun-Kyung saw and heard a lot of things and thought he had adjusted quite well. Today, the ‘simple’ building owner’s son was defeated by the chaebol’s son.

Normally, Jun-Kyung was not the type to enjoy alcohol very much. He’s not sure if President Min enjoys it, but he drinks well. Most of the high-alcohol Chinese liquor was drunk by Hyun-Seung. After finishing the meal, they headed to the hotel. Jun-Kyung feels a little strange that he was going to the hotel while the sun was still far away from setting.

Jun-kyung naturally got used to it to a certain extent because he usually had a lot of eyes from being with President Min, but somehow he became very conscious of the unremarkable gaze today.

‘What’s wrong between the married couple?’ Even thinking about it, for some reason, his face felt hot. I mean, they say they’re taking a break to sober up, but in reality, aren’t they booking a room ‘to do it’?

“Currently, there is only one suite left for the event.”

“An event?” Jun-Kyung asked.

“Yes, it is an event for couples. Bath amenities for couples as well as liquor and fruit service are provided. Are you all right with that?” The hotel staff, who confirmed that the party was male, asked cautiously. It was to confirm whether it was a business stay or a relationship like that.

“It’s okay. We are a couple.” President Min had no hesitation. Needless to say, they are a couple. The professional hotelier smiled very kindly, not showing any surprise.

“Then let me help you with this room. Here’s your card key. Your room is ready for use, and we will bring you liquor and fruit service as soon as it is ready.”

“Thank you.” President Min, who left a businesslike greeting, took Jun-Kyung to the elevator. The elevator went straight to the top floor.

“If you’re just taking a break, it doesn’t have to be a suite room.”

“Sleeping in any room?”

“Are you going to sleep here for the night?” Jun-Kyung asked.

“Maybe. I’m fine, but there’s a good chance you need it.”
