Chapter 051 Senior Brother – “Demonic Beasts Appear” (16/19)

Chapter 051 Senior Brother – “Demonic Beasts Appear” (16/19)

At that moment, the senior brother of Lingyue Peak felt as if his head was about to explode. Even when the Peak Master of Lingyue left, he was still in a state of desperate denial.

It may not necessarily be Shi Jingge undergoing his tribulation.

What if one of the junior brothers or sisters was advancing from the Qi Cultivation Stage to the Foundation Establishment Stage?

But the moment he stepped outside, Senior Brother Sun knew it was definitely not a Foundation Establishment tribulation.

He wasn’t a fool; he’d established his foundation before, so how could he not recognize that stage?

This tribulation was far more powerful than any he had ever experienced.

C-Could it possibly be a Golden Core cultivator ascending to the Nascent Soul stage?

Though he knew it was impossible, Senior Brother Sun still wanted to cling to that sliver of hope.

……It was… it was just one day away!!

But in the very next moment, the Peak Master of Lingyue Peak personally crushed his last shred of hope.

“Go to Shuixing Peak,” the Peak Master uttered those four words slowly.

Senior Brother of Lingyue Peak: “…QAQ!”

Shi Jingge’s tribulation was actually a good thing for the Liuchong Sect. After all, what sect would ever complain about having too many Golden Core cultivators?

Moreover, once Shi Jingge became a Golden Core Immortal, he would be fully entitled to take charge of Shuixing Peak. Although Lingyue Peak and Shuixing Peak were not particularly close, they were, after all, part of the same sect, so naturally, he wished Shuixing Peak well.

Furthermore, according to sect regulations, disciples were required to assist one another during meditation, tribulation-crossing, and other such events.

Therefore, both for the sake of the sect and personally, the Peak Master of Lingyue Peak hoped that Shi Jingge’s tribulation-crossing would go smoothly.

Just… it would’ve been better if he’d faced the tribulation a day later.

The Peak Master of Lingyue Peak’s gaze slowly swept over Senior Brother Sun, his eyes inadvertently revealing a hint of disdain.

This disciple of his—everything else was fine, but he was always ruled by his emotions. Once his emotions took control, he truly lost his mind.

“After you return from Shuixing Peak, go into seclusion. Don’t come out for two years.”

The Senior Disciple of Lingyue Peak froze for a moment, but then it dawned on him: if his master had ordered him to go into seclusion, he wouldn’t have to go to Shuixing Peak and experience the terror of being controlled by elixirs!

A surge of joy, as if he’d survived a catastrophe, instantly overwhelmed him.

“Yes, Master,” he replied, his voice brimming with delight. “Thank you, Master, for your kindness.”

With that, he bowed deeply.

Peak Master of Lingyue Peak: “?”

Had this disciple of his been driven mad by the ordeal?

By the time he arrived at Shuixing Peak, most of the other Peak Masters were already there. Two representatives from the main peak had arrived—one was the Disciplinary Elder and the other was the Sect Master, while the other elders from the main peak were still nowhere to be found.

The Sect Master nodded to them, then singled out four secondary Peak Masters and instructed the others to leave first, entrusting the matter to them.

Moreover, the four secondary Peak Masters chosen by the Sect Master were quite astute; they had once been under the care of True Immortal Gu Yun or maintained close ties with Shuixing Peak; they were also among the first to step forward in support when the Sect Master initially proposed that Shi Jingge succeed as the Peak Master of Shuixing Peak.

The Peak Master of Lingyue Peak was naturally not among them; fortunately, he had long anticipated this outcome and had already departed with his disciples.

The Sect Master smiled at the other Peak Masters. “Xiao Ge is finally about to undergo his tribulation. As his elders, it is only natural that we stand guard for him, so he has no worries. What do you all think?”

The crowd responded in unison, “We shall obey the Sect Master’s orders.”

At that moment, the massive thunderclouds churning in the sky looked menacing and terrifying. The lightning had not yet struck; it merely hung in the air, as if waiting for something, intent on delivering a fatal blow!

Most of the disciples of Shuixing Peak had also come out. Seeing this scene, they were all deeply concerned. The Sect Master sensed the energy and furrowed his brow slightly. He couldn’t sense where Shi Jingge was!

The Disciplinary Elder, noticing the Sect Master’s astonishment, stepped forward. “What’s wrong?”

The Sect Master shook his head slightly. “I can’t sense where he is.”

“How is that possible?” the Disciplinary Elder exclaimed in shock. “The thunder is still here, which proves he must still be on Shuixing Peak. He’s there, and he’s a disciple of our sect. How could we not find him?”

The Disciplinary Elder closed his eyes briefly and began to search for Shi Jingge’s location as well, but soon he opened his eyes and looked at the Sect Master in bewilderment.

“I really can’t sense him…”

What was going on?

As the Disciplinary Elder and a powerful cultivator at the Nascent Soul stage, it was impossible for him to fail to sense a disciple within the sect’s grounds!

The other four Peak Masters, seeing the expressions on the Disciplinary Elder and the Sect Master’s faces, realized something was amiss and felt a pang of unease.

After the Sect Master tried once more, he sighed softly. “There’s a barrier. It’s completely blocking Shi Jingge’s aura. We can’t sense him; we’ll just have to wait for him to come out on his own.”

The Disciplinary Elder’s expression eased slightly. “Is this a barrier left by True Immortal Gu Yun for Xiao Ge?”

“No, that can’t be. No matter how gifted True Immortal Gu Yun is, he’d still have been only a Golden Core cultivator.”

Therefore, any barrier he left behind could never block him and the Sect Master! For it to block both him and the Sect Master, there were only two possibilities.

One: the power must be far superior to his own and the Sect Master’s, likely conjured by a Tribulation-Crossing cultivator; two: the individual must possess absolute control over the Liuchong Sect.

But the feasibility of both possibilities was practically zero!

In the current cultivation world, the strongest cultivator was the Sect Master of the Liuchong Sect, who was at the late Nascent Soul stage. During the uprising three years ago, everyone had fought for their own disciples without hiding their cultivation levels. Could someone have broken through in the past three years? It was highly unlikely. As for control over the Liuchong Sect, that was even less likely. He was the Sect Master; who could possibly have greater control over the sect than the Sect Master?

That left only one possibility: a Demon Cultivator.

Shi Jingge was taken away by a Demon Cultivator.

So, was Shi Jingge’s Tribulation this time a natural occurrence, or was it orchestrated by a Demon Cultivator…?

The Disciplinary Elder and the Sect Master exchanged glances, both seeing grave concern in each other’s eyes. Clearly, their thoughts had converged.

“Search,” the Sect Master said, pressing his lips together. “Today, we will turn the earth upside down if we must. We must find Shi Jingge!”

Whether dead or alive, they must find him. Some repulsive Demonic Cultivators were known to refine corpses.

If they allowed Shi Jingge to fall in their hands and meet such an end, how could they ever face Gu Yun?

The Sect Master and the Disciplinary Elder’s eyes were filled with suppressed fury.

To dare treat a disciple of the Liuchong Sect in such a manner—they would certainly not let this go unpunished!

Meanwhile, at the spiritual vein, Wen Xusheng had already made the final preparations for Shi Jingge. A few days prior, he had sensed that Shi Jingge was about to undergo his tribulation, so he had been gathering various treasures to increase Shi Jingge’s chances of success and minimize the risks.

The Dao was exceptionally fair when it came to tribulation trials; it did not permit any cultivator to interfere with a fellow cultivator undergoing the trial, whether out of goodwill or malice. Once the trial begins, Wen Xusheng would be unable to offer any assistance. To intervene rashly would only multiply the difficulty of the trial several times over. While it wouldn’t harm him personally, the consequences for Shi Jingge would be entirely different!

His partner’s cultivation level was still a bit too low; Wen Xusheng would definitely have to practice dual cultivation with him more often in the future.

After all, he had plenty of cultivation to spare; giving it all to his partner wouldn’t be a problem.

“I’m going to remove the barrier now.” Wen Xusheng handed another pair of bracelets to Shi Jingge. “In a critical moment, you can activate these to nullify a single fatal strike.”

Shi Jingge: “……”

Shi Jingge felt something throbbing at his temple. After a long silence, he said indifferently, “You’ve already given me two or three dozen items like this.”

And as for the tribulation thunderbolts, there were only nine strikes in total. He could survive the tribulation entirely with these treasures, without even needing to stand up.

Wen Xusheng blinked and glanced at the small mountain piled beside Shi Jingge. It contained every imaginable type of treasure—offensive, defensive, and life-saving—along with countless vials of elixirs placed nearby for Shi Jingge’s immediate use.

Wen Xusheng heaved a sigh of slight relief. “Better safe than sorry, right?”

Shi Jingge: “……”

He felt like he wasn’t undergoing a tribulation; he was attending some kind of treasure exhibition.

“One last… one last thing. Wen Xusheng walked over, meeting Shi Jingge’s gaze, then gently kissed him on the forehead. “I am willing to give all my fortune to my Dao companion. May you have every wish fulfilled, day and night.”

Shi Jingge froze for a moment. Before he could react, the barrier that had been confusing the Heavenly Dao Thunder Tribulation was removed by Wen Xusheng.

The Nine Heavens Mystic Thunder, which had been coiled up for so long, could no longer hold back and crashed down on Shi Jingge with full force.

Boom—Crash—

The sheer force of the strike was enough to make anyone look away.

The three-tailed cat shrank and jumped onto Wen Xusheng’s shoulder. One tail gently patted his head in comfort, while another covered his eyes, as if not wanting him to watch.

Wen Xusheng reached back and cradled it in his arms. “Don’t even think about taking advantage of me.”

Its little scheme exposed, the three-tailed cat  shrank its neck in guilt, but quickly regained its composure. What advantage had it taken?

It was upright and elegant—it never took advantage of anyone!

The first bolt of lightning struck directly down, and Shi Jingge met it head-on, without using any of the treasures Wen Xusheng had given him.

Wen Xusheng sighed with a touch of resignation, yet his eyes held only Shi Jingge’s reflection—no worry, no fear, just Shi Jingge filling his gaze.

He lowered his head and said to the three-tailed cat, “Xiao Ge is so amazing, isn’t he?”

The three-tailed cat tilted its head and licked Wen Xusheng.

Boom—Rumble—

The second bolt of lightning followed immediately, growing larger at a speed visible to the naked eye. At that moment, on the other side of the sky, several black whirlpools suddenly appeared.

The three-tailed cat noticed them first and tugged at Wen Xusheng’s sleeve to alert him.

Wen Xusheng’s eyes grew colder and colder.

Those black whirlpools were aimed at the summit of every peak in the Liuchong Sect, carrying an ominous aura. The whirlpools grew larger and larger, and faint, excited howls could be heard.

These whirlpools were like portals, transporting terrifying creatures into the Liuchong Sect.

Wen Xusheng said coldly, “Looking for death.”

Stirring up trouble on the very day his Dao companion was undergoing his tribulation—what else could it be but courting death?

Wen Xusheng released the three-tailed cat from his embrace and pointed at Shi Jingge. “My Dao companion.”

The three-tailed cat nodded vigorously, its face full of questions.

“Take good care of him,” Wen Xusheng said, enunciating each word clearly.

The three-tailed cat paused, glanced at the treasures surrounding Shi Jingge, and nodded hesitantly.

…It didn’t seem like he actually needed any looking after 🙂

Meanwhile, outside, the people of the Liuchong Sect had also noticed these black whirlpools.

“What are those?

“What an ominous aura… It must be demonic beasts!”

“Didn’t they just riot three years ago? Why are they back?”

“Return to your peaks! Hurry! Protect the disciples!”

“Activate the sect’s grand formation! All peaks must also activate their internal defensive formations!”

“Disciples of Shuixing Peak, follow your nearest Peak Master and leave immediately! Hurry!”

“Senior Brother—Senior Brother is still undergoing his tribulation!”

“Something… Something is falling down!!!”

The demon beasts have appeared.
