Act with Impunity – Chapter 44

Little X

During the process, Tan Xingwei had been coaxed by Su Xu into letting loose too much. Now that it was over and she had calmed down, she was overwhelmed with a burst of shame.

She nestled in Su Xu’s arms, her mind filled with scenes from just now. The hand covering her mouth had been moved away by Su Xu, and when she tried to pull the blanket over to cover herself, Su Xu had pulled it away too. With repeated calls of “Let Sister see,” and “Be a good girl, Little Sister,” Tan Xingwei had ended up being completely open.

Right now, Tan Xingwei felt waves of heat and then waves of pleasure. The heat came from wondering who that person just now had been; she seemed so unfamiliar.

As for the pleasure, well… hmm.

Just as she was savoring the aftertaste, Su Xu suddenly moved. Like a startled bird, Tan Xingwei immediately buried her head.

Su Xu had only wanted to brush aside some hair that was covering her face and getting in the way. She hadn’t expected such a big reaction from Tan Xingwei, and her attention was immediately captured.

She lowered her head to look at Tan Xingwei, but all she got was Tan Xingwei burying her face deeper, and deeper still, until she was almost lying flat on the pillow.

Su Xu understood.

Su Xu smiled.

It wasn’t surprising. Tan Xingwei knew Su Xu would definitely laugh.

“Hmm?” Su Xu placed a hand on the back of Tan Xingwei’s head, applying a little pressure.

Of course, that little bit of force wasn’t enough to turn Tan Xingwei’s head.

Su Xu’s smile widened. “What’s wrong?”

Tan Xingwei’s voice was muffled. “I’m asleep.”

Su Xu made an “ah” sound. “Asleep, are you.”

Tan Xingwei squeezed her eyes shut. The hand resting on Su Xu’s waist tensed up involuntarily, becoming very stiff.

Su Xu felt it, of course, but she had her own way of dealing with this stiff block of wood.

Right now, only one of Tan Xingwei’s ears was exposed. That was fine. She would just kiss her ear.

The moment Su Xu’s lips touched her, Tan Xingwei let out a muffled cry and jerked away. But before Su Xu could do anything, Tan Xingwei came back on her own, inching her way back to her previous spot.

Su Xu didn’t hold back. Without another word, she leaned in and kissed her.

Tan Xingwei’s muscles tensed up again, but she couldn’t maintain it for long. Soon, her arm relaxed.

It wasn’t just her arm that relaxed. The kisses made her go soft all over. Now it was easy. Su Xu simply hooked a finger under her chin and turned her head to face her.

From having her face buried for so long, she was flushed red.

“Weren’t you asleep?” Su Xu propped her head on her hand to look at Tan Xingwei. “Your eyes are so wide.”

Tan Xingwei instantly squeezed her eyes shut, but she quickly opened them again and wrinkled her nose at Su Xu, as if to show she wasn’t that childish.

“Of course, you woke me up,” Tan Xingwei retorted.

Su Xu’s eyes curved into crescents. “Is that so.”

As if following a script, Tan Xingwei should have continued her stubborn act for a few more lines. But she liked Su Xu a little too much; as soon as their eyes met, she couldn’t keep it up at all.

Who could say harsh things to such a beautiful big sister?

She let out a silly giggle and threw herself back into Su Xu’s arms. “I love it when you hold me.”

Su Xu asked, “Then why don’t you hold me when you sleep?”

The question stumped Tan Xingwei.

Although they had been sleeping in the same bed for many days, they had always kept to their own sides. If there was any difference from four years ago, it was that the distance between them had shrunk, so close that their arms would occasionally touch as they slept.

Of course, Tan Xingwei wanted to be closer to Su Xu, but she wasn’t sure if it was because the shift in their relationship hadn’t fully sunk in, or if they just couldn’t break their old habits. She always felt the atmosphere wasn’t quite right for it.

She had backed away several times, always telling herself it was still too soon.

She was also afraid Su Xu might not want it. She couldn’t figure out Su Xu’s feelings about physical intimacy and worried she might scare her off by being too hasty.

Plus, since Tan Xingwei had moved into Su Xu’s house, she was farther from her office. Su Xu had to drive her to work in the morning before heading to her own company. This round trip meant they had to wake up thirty minutes earlier than before. So, unsurprisingly, they got sleepy very early at night, and the bed became just a place for sleeping.

But she never expected Su Xu’s next words to be: “You get so sleepy the moment you get into bed every day. By the time I join you, you’ve already put down your phone and are ready to sleep.”

Tan Xingwei’s eyes widened, and her voice caught in her throat. “I… I?”

Su Xu said, a hint of grievance in her voice, “Yes, you.”

Tan Xingwei screamed internally. Good heavens, she was really, truly…

“Alright,” Tan Xingwei couldn’t deny it, but she felt aggrieved too. “I might have acted that way, but you have to believe me, that’s not what I was thinking on the inside.”

Su Xu asked, “What were you thinking?”

Tan Xingwei grew shy. She didn’t say anything, expressing herself with her actions instead. She clung to Su Xu, wriggling and nuzzling against her in her embrace.

Amused, Su Xu let out a low laugh. “So it seems I misunderstood you?”

That was an easy one to answer. Tan Xingwei nodded immediately. “A misunderstanding. A huge misunderstanding.”

“And,” Tan Xingwei continued, “I think I misunderstood you, too.”

Su Xu asked, “Misunderstood what?”

Tan Xingwei thought for a moment. “Because, well, some people are… very indifferent about, you know, this sort of thing.”

Su Xu said, “I’m not.”

Tan Xingwei broke into a smile. “Oh.”

Su Xu asked, “If I were, would you still be okay with it?”

Tan Xingwei didn’t have to think for long. “Of course,” she said, nodding repeatedly. “I’m okay with you no matter what.”

Su Xu lifted Tan Xingwei’s chin. “You like me that much?”

Tan Xingwei’s eyes darted playfully. “Are you only just realizing that?”

Of course, Tan Xingwei had to ask in return, “Then what if I were the indifferent one? Would that be okay?”

Su Xu said, “I’m pettier than you. I wouldn’t be okay with it.”

Tan Xingwei burst out laughing and slowly covered her mouth.

Su Xu actually seemed a little embarrassed. “What is it? Didn’t expect this side of Big Sister Ah Xu, did you?”

Tan Xingwei’s words came through the gaps between her fingers. “I didn’t say a thing.”

Su Xu said, “Kiss me.”

Grinning, Tan Xingwei leaned in.

“Then what if,” Tan Xingwei said after the kiss, still not satisfied and continuing her hypothetical scenario, “what if I fall asleep the moment I hit the bed again tonight?”

Su Xu let out a long sigh. “What else can I do? I’ll just go to sleep too.”

Still not satisfied, Tan Xingwei pressed, “What if I’m like that every single night from now on?”

Su Xu said, “Let me think about it.”

Tan Xingwei’s eyes were wide with anticipation.

Su Xu said, “I’d have to seduce you, I guess.”

Tan Xingwei’s anticipation grew. “How would you seduce me?”

Su Xu smiled. “Does this look like someone who’s indifferent?”

Tan Xingwei calmed herself down, coughed, and returned to her hypothetical persona. “What if the seduction fails? What if I’m just not interested and all I want to do is sleep?”

The moment the words left her mouth, Su Xu pinched her cheeks.

“Hey,” Tan Xingwei protested.

“Then we’ll just have a platonic relationship,” Su Xu said, deliberately feigning a sense of helplessness. “It’s not impossible to just be each other’s soulmates.”

Tan Xingwei had been the one to ask, but now that Su Xu gave this answer, she wasn’t satisfied. “But didn’t you just say you wouldn’t be okay with it?”

“That was before we’d done it,” Su Xu sighed. “Just empty boasting, that’s all.”

Tan Xingwei burst out laughing.

See! Her big sister was just that interesting.

She loved her to death.

In truth, even if Su Xu hadn’t said it, Tan Xingwei could sense it. She was sure Su Xu would have been fine if she were the indifferent one. If Tan Xingwei hadn’t launched a surprise attack while Su Xu was brushing her teeth, they might have already been asleep by this time.

The first step is always the hardest, but once it’s taken, everything else becomes easier.

Su Xu’s talk of seduction wasn’t just empty words. Don’t be fooled by her prim and proper tone when she spoke; her hands were anything but proper.

They would wander!

So, inevitably, Tan Xingwei’s craving returned.

Between the two of them, both were quite lecherous.

With such an alluring big sister lying beside her, it was hard not to have thoughts.

And this wicked big sister, after tormenting her enough, still had to ask, “Do you want more?”

It was a question that came with an expected answer, and Tan Xingwei naturally gave it. “Yes.”

Yes, yes, yes.

The first time, Tan Xingwei’s mind had been in a bit of a daze. While it wasn’t as bad as the saying about Zhu Bajie eating the ginseng fruit, her nervousness had been so overwhelming that she’d missed many of the details.

This time was different. She quickly got into the right state of mind, feeling everything with both her body and her heart.

Su Xu was so gentle. So, so gentle.

It was almost too much to bear. Could they stay like this forever?

Taking advantage of the weekend, the two of them were completely unrestrained. Tan Xingwei didn’t know what time they finally fell asleep, only that the sky was already beginning to lighten on the horizon and the summer insects had started their chirping.

Tan Xingwei slept dreamlessly. When she woke up, it was one in the afternoon, and Su Xu was right beside her.

Her big sister had been much more tired than her last night and had gone to sleep a little later. She was currently sleeping soundly.

As if her words had become law, they were sleeping in an embrace. Su Xu’s arm was wrapped around Tan Xingwei.

Having slept her fill, Tan Xingwei was wide awake and full of energy. This was the first time in a long while that Su Xu had been this close to her in bed.

Tan Xingwei recalled certain moments from four years ago. Back then, she had wanted to possess every possible moment of Su Xu. So, on the very first day she successfully moved into Su Xu’s home, she had secretly vowed to wake up earlier than Su Xu so she could memorize her sleeping face.

But that had proven too difficult for her. She was too good at sleeping. The holidays had instilled in her a biological clock set to wake up at noon, while her “opponent” was a working professional who had to get up for her job. How could she possibly compete?

After failing to wake up before Su Xu for several days in a row, Tan Xingwei had given up on the idea and settled for the next best thing: her sleeping face at night would have to do.

Unfortunately, it was too dark at night, and with them sleeping so far apart on opposite sides of the bed, that activity had never been realized four years ago.

It didn’t matter. It was being realized now.

The light filtering through the curtains was just dim enough, and the distance between them was perfect. Tan Xingwei could admire her Big Sister Ah Xu clearly.

Hehe, haha, I’m so happy. It’s like a dream.

Tan Xingwei admired Su Xu’s expressionless face, her thick eyebrows, her clearly defined eyelashes, and her high-bridged nose.

She couldn’t resist. Just one kiss.

“Hmm?”

The movement was a little too big; she had kissed the beauty awake.

The beauty slowly opened her eyes. She seemed unaware of what had just happened, and slowly closed them again.

“What time is it?” Su Xu asked.

Tan Xingwei replied, “1:24.”

Su Xu kept her eyes closed. “One in the afternoon?”

If anyone else had asked that question, Tan Xingwei would have thought it was stupid. What other time could it possibly be? But this was Su Xu.

“Yes, yes.”

Aiya, not even knowing if it’s day or night after waking up. How cute.

And I’m not being sarcastic, everyone, don’t get me wrong.

Su Xu let out a long “hmmm,” hugged Tan Xingwei tighter, and said, “I dreamed about you.”

How novel. It was the first time Tan Xingwei had ever heard Su Xu talk about her dreams. “What did you dream about me?”

Su Xu chuckled to herself before answering, “That you wanted to have a platonic relationship with me.”

Tan Xingwei let out a “pfft” and burst into laughter.

It was just too funny. Through last night and today, Su Xu’s persona had deepened in Tan Xingwei’s mind. She didn’t just have the surface qualities that Tan Xingwei adored, but also these inner qualities that Tan Xingwei loved even more.

Before long, the two of them got out of bed. A whole night had passed, and it was now late afternoon. They were starving.

They had already bought groceries for the day at the supermarket yesterday. They first ate some sandwiches they had prepared, and while they ate, Su Xu started simmering her soy-sauce beef.

As summer approached, the weather became unpredictable. Today happened to be a scorcher, so neither of them wanted to go out. They unanimously decided to stay home and watch TV.

“Speaking of this variety show,” Tan Xingwei said—it had been four years, and the show was still on the air—“the first afternoon I came to your house, this is what you put on for me. Do you remember?”

Su Xu thought for a moment. “Really? I only remember there was a boy band.”

“That’s the one,” Tan Xingwei confirmed, then asked, “Why did you put it on for me? Did you just pick it randomly, or…?”

Su Xu replied, “I thought you young people would like it.” She then added, “Besides, you seemed to be watching it quite intently after I turned it on.”

“I thought it was what you wanted to watch. It wasn’t unwatchable or anything,” Tan Xingwei said, amused. “That day, when I saw you turn on that show, my very first thought was, Wow, a straight girl.

Su Xu laughed. “So that’s how it was.”

Tan Xingwei hadn’t wanted to pick this variety show, but after browsing for a while and finding nothing else interesting, she ended up clicking on it anyway.

Just like four years ago, it wasn’t unwatchable, and it was still somewhat funny. And so, Tan Xingwei and Su Xu sat on opposite ends of the sofa, leaning back comfortably, watching TV while also playing on their phones.

Doing just one thing felt like a waste of time, so Tan Xingwei opened Weibo and switched to her Little X account.

Last time on this feed, she had kissed Su Xu, who was a straight girl. So, this time…

“They’re telling us to treat them to dinner tomorrow,” Su Xu said suddenly, while Tan Xingwei was scrolling through comments.

Tan Xingwei looked up. “Tan Yinqing and the others? Okay.”

They must have been chatting. Su Xu’s fingers were tapping away at her phone. She must have seen something, because she suddenly started laughing.

“Are you ready?” Su Xu asked.

Tan Xingwei asked, “Ready for what?”

Su Xu said, “To accept their criticism.”

Tan Xingwei asked, “There’s going to be criticism?”

Su Xu explained, “They said last week was too sudden for them to react properly. After they went home, the more they thought about it, the more something felt off, and the angrier they got. They said they won’t let us off the hook tomorrow.”

Tan Xingwei feigned grievance. “I’m so scared, Big Sister.”

Su Xu shook her head. “Don’t be afraid, Little Sister. If they want to scold someone, let them scold me. It’s all my fault.”

Tan Xingwei shook her head too. “Big Sister, you can’t say that. It was Little Sister who tempted you.”

Su Xu shushed her. “Hide behind me.”

Tan Xingwei cooed, “Okay~”

Both of them fell silent at the same time, ending their little act.

Then, Tan Xingwei tapped the “Compose Weibo” button.

She couldn’t very well write anything detailed in front of Su Xu, but since she had just met “Little Scissors” yesterday, she could at least post a brief update like last time.

So, Little X wrote, “Hello everyone, Big Sister and I are together now.” Simple and direct. She hit send.

As expected, the unread comment count instantly skyrocketed.

But what she didn’t expect was…

“Little X?” Su Xu suddenly called out from the other end of the sofa.

Tan Xingwei’s hand trembled, and she nearly dropped her phone. “Huh?”

Su Xu asked Tan Xingwei, “Is that you?”

Tan Xingwei’s heart instantly panicked. But considering “Little Scissors” had called her Little X just yesterday, she decided to play it cool for now. “What?”

Su Xu looked back down at her phone. It was unclear what she saw, but she let out a low laugh.

This time, her tone was certain. “Ah~ Sister A,” she said, looking up again. “Is that me?”
