As the needle was pulled out, the heat he had been barely holding down surged back like a storm, crashing over Ji Chenxi all at once.
The susceptible period was already hard enough to endure, and now this man was saying things like that. At first, Ji Chenxi felt annoyed, convinced Chi Zhuo was deliberately trying to provoke him. But by the time he heard the last line, his lashes fluttered slightly.
Those tempting words tugged hard at the last thread of his reason. Maybe because it was exactly what he wanted most right now, Ji Chenxi instead grew wary. His gaze dipped, settling on the man’s lips as he asked in a low voice, “Having fun at my expense?”
Chi Zhuo’s fingers brushed gently along Ji Chenxi’s neck, almost touching the swollen gland there from the injury. His fingertips hovered again and again, close enough to graze it, yet never quite daring to press down. At the question, he actually smiled. “Yeah,” he said softly, “I’m having fun with Your Highness. Right now, I just want to eat you up like a little cake.”
Ji Chenxi frowned, coldly spitting out, “Insolent.” Yet his body still pressed down on Chi Zhuo, not pulling away in real anger despite the man’s bold words.
Looking up into those blue eyes, Chi Zhuo let out a low chuckle. The hand that had been hesitating at his neck slid up to Ji Chenxi’s cheek, fingers tracing downward before he murmured, “Does this count as overstepping my bounds?”
“Who knows what you—” Ji Chenxi’s voice was icy, but before he could finish, he was suddenly pulled down.
Their lips crashed together. The air in his mouth was seized, taken without mercy. The kiss was fierce and rough, like Ji Chenxi was something irresistibly delicious.
Ji Chenxi had never liked this kind of kiss from Chi Zhuo. Even though most alphas got like this when they lost control, he had no intention of forcing himself to accept it.
He grabbed Chi Zhuo’s jaw, slowing things down by force, and soon enough, he took control of the rhythm himself.
He liked it when the other man gave in like this. Just as Ji Chenxi was about to deepen the kiss the way Chi Zhuo seemed to want, a sharp sting hit his tongue. A beat later, he realized—he’d been bitten.
A little pain during moments like this could turn into something exciting, a spark that made everything burn hotter. But this pain wasn’t like that at all—it was proof that Chi Zhuo was resisting him.
Ji Chenxi grew irritated. Already in his susceptible period, he couldn’t tolerate even the slightest pushback. Now, his reason was truly on the verge of snapping.
Close contact with someone you love was supposed to be the cure during this time. But that didn’t quite work between two alphas—especially when one of them had been pushed into this state by another omega. The closer he got, the more he wanted; the more he wanted, the less satisfied he felt.
It was like drinking poison to quench his thirst.
The more they kissed, the emptier it felt—like it only made him crave something deeper, something more.
Somewhere in the middle of their struggle, their clothes had already fallen into disarray. Chi Zhuo casually tugged at Ji Chenxi’s clothes, trying to soothe him, his movements slow and deliberate.
But before his hand could go any further, Ji Chenxi grabbed it and pinned it down.
“Your Highness, what’s wrong?”
“What are you doing?” Ji Chenxi had stopped him quickly, but his resolve wasn’t nearly as firm as it looked.
“Then… should I take mine off first?” Chi Zhuo teased lightly. “Your Highness, what’s with that expression? It’s not like I’m taking advantage of you.”
Ji Chenxi didn’t answer. He just looked at him. There was something unmistakably suggestive in Chi Zhuo’s tone, and precisely because of that hint, Ji Chenxi found it even harder to believe.
“You… don’t have to force yourself.”
His eyes were already flushed red, his whole expression screaming how much he wanted this—and yet he still managed to say something like that. Seeing it, the bit of awkwardness in Chi Zhuo faded quite a lot.
“It is a bit forced,” Chi Zhuo admitted, his voice low, almost amused. “But this is our first time. Making it feel like some cheap transaction would be boring. Giving in a little to our dear Highness isn’t a big deal.”
Ji Chenxi parted his lips, but no words came out.
Under Chi Zhuo’s deep gaze, with his reason hanging by a thread, Ji Chenxi gave a final warning, “I hope you won’t tell me tomorrow that you regret this.”
“Oh?” Chi Zhuo raised a brow. “Your Highness is quite gentle. So it ends tomorrow? I thought it’d be a few unbearable days at least.”
Ji Chenxi: “…”
He was really about to get angry.
It was obvious Chi Zhuo was teasing him. Watching Ji Chenxi’s expression twist into something hard to describe, the usually cold-faced man let out another low laugh. It sat deep in his throat, muffled—half like mockery, half like a lure.
Ji Chenxi narrowed his eyes at him, then leaned down and kissed him.
Chi Zhuo wrapped an arm around Ji Chenxi without the slightest fear, still daring to provoke him. “Your Highness doesn’t need to worry.”
He returned the kiss, light pecks brushing against Ji Chenxi’s lips, almost like the innocent way children showed affection. Yet Chi Zhuo seemed endlessly content with it. Leaning close to his ear, he whispered so softly it was barely a sound—
“Even if it’s just impulse, it doesn’t matter. You’re my moment of impulse… and also the kind of liking I can never erase.”
So there was no such thing as regret.
The way he used the words “impossible to erase” was just right—so much so that even the dangerous look in Ji Chenxi’s eyes paused for a moment.
“If you just talk to me properly,” Ji Chenxi said, his voice lower now, “I actually like you quite a bit.”
“Oh?” Chi Zhuo drew out the word slightly, his tone teasing. “So it’s only ‘like,’ huh?”
Ji Chenxi wanted to say more, but right now, all he wanted was to be close—to feel skin against skin.
Chi Zhuo leaned in close to his ear again, his voice soft and low. “Not sure if I’ve told you before… but your lips are really nice. Perfect for kissing me.”
“And why exactly are they ‘perfect’ for kissing you?”
“Because they’re only meant to kiss me, of course. After all… even you belong to me, Your Highness.”
Chi Zhuo teased him without restraint. Maybe to him, this wasn’t even teasing—just saying something intimate to his own little prince. But to Ji Chenxi, each word chipped away at what little reason he had left.
The heat kept rising, wave after wave, stronger each time. He tried to find some way to ease it, but this wasn’t something an alpha was built to handle. The dryness made everything worse—there was nothing pleasurable about it, only pain.
And it wasn’t just Chi Zhuo who felt it. Even Ji Chenxi flinched from the pain, his mind snapping back to clarity for a brief moment.
He suddenly bit down on Chi Zhuo’s gland. The strong, overbearing alpha pheromones rushed into his senses, leaving his head dizzy and layering even more pain on top of everything else.
After the bite, Ji Chenxi’s eyes were red as he looked at him. “You really aren’t willing… it hurts so much.”
Chi Zhuo, who was also hissing from the pain, forced himself to relax, speaking in a tone as steady as usual. “Feels more like Your Highness is getting back at me.”
Enduring the pain, Chi Zhuo quickly checked something on his terminal. Then he shut his eyes, a trace of despair slipping through. “Suddenly… I’m kind of glad I gave in to you.”
He pulled Ji Chenxi into his arms, biting down on his shoulder to bear the pain.
Ji Chenxi was already in a lot of pain himself, and now he was being bitten on the shoulder on top of that. In his sensitive state, right in the middle of his susceptible period, he almost couldn’t hold it in—his eyes stung, on the verge of spilling over.
After that intense wave passed, Chi Zhuo leaned down and kissed Ji Chenxi’s shoulder, still calm enough to soothe him. “It’ll be fine in a bit,” he murmured. “I don’t think it’s a big problem.”
Reality proved otherwise—there was still quite a problem. But luckily, alphas had strong bodies. Even so, they managed to push through it, stumbling along the way.
With the added effect of the susceptible period, the room was filled with Ji Chenxi’s rose scent. At first, Chi Zhuo had thought the smell was a little too bitter—that was from the damage to the gland earlier. But after the needle was removed and the gland began to heal itself, that rose fragrance slowly picked up a faint sweetness.
The sharp scent of tequila and the soft sweetness of roses clashed, resisted, and blended—until, in the end, they mixed into a rich, heavy fragrance of their own.
