BTMDY Chapter 105

With a loud slam, both of them froze, their eyes locking instantly on the office door that had just been shut tight.

Lin Shen’s thoughts stalled for a few seconds. His grip on Lu Chengxuan’s collar loosened slightly, but he didn’t let go entirely. Instead, he turned his head to look at Lu Chengxuan again.

Lu Chengxuan had already returned his gaze long before.

Now, face to face, Lu Chengxuan was leaning back against the desk, pushed into it, his height just matching Lin Shen’s. Their noses were so close that they could feel the warmth of each other’s breath.

Lin Shen had a temper like a firecracker—once it went off, it exploded in a blaze, then immediately vanished as if nothing had happened.

Lin Wangye’s sudden interruption had snuffed out Lin Shen’s anger like a dud firecracker. After processing what had just happened, he couldn’t help but chuckle. With a mischievous tilt of his brow and a sly curve at the corner of his lips, he teased Lu Chengxuan: “Did he misunderstand something?”

Lu Chengxuan looked back at him, his voice serious.

“He did.”

“Well, we definitely can’t let him misunderstand.”

Lin Shen smiled lightly. Just as Lu Chengxuan thought he was about to step out and explain, he suddenly felt his collar tighten, followed by a force pulling him forward.

Soft, pliant lips pressed against his own—warm, wet, and insistent.

The first touch sparked a tingling, teasing friction, quickly followed by a faint sting—Lu Chengxuan deliberately bit him just enough to mark his territory.

Lu Chengxuan’s breath faltered for a moment, then he leaned in, closing his eyes and forcing his way past Lin Shen’s lips. Lin Shen didn’t back down; he gripped Lu Chengxuan’s collar and fought back with his own head, meeting him blow for blow.

The sound of wet, intimate contact echoed through the quiet office.

They moved together with every skill they had, twisting and tangling against each other. The saliva escaping their lips went unnoticed, the heat of their breath igniting blood and shaking something deep in their souls.

At some point, Lu Chengxuan’s hands moved to Lin Shen’s lower back, tightening his hold.

The closeness made the air feel heavy and hot, their body temperatures climbing with every second.

Lin Shen turned his head, breaking the passionate, lingering kiss. He steadied his ragged breathing, eyes flashing with a sharp, intoxicating sense of control over the man in front of him.

He cast a quick glance downward and said, meaningfully,

“You can’t handle teasing like this. Your self-control isn’t great.”

Lu Chengxuan’s breathing didn’t change, his gaze remained clear, calm, and steady. His tone was as cool as ever: “Take your hands away first.”

Lin Shen immediately stepped back, raising his hands in surrender. He blinked, deliberately looking innocent, a playful smile curling on his lips.

The next second, a force he couldn’t resist pressed him forward. Lu Chengxuan raised a hand, gripping his chin and pressing a powerful, unyielding kiss onto him, prying apart his teeth and conquering him with near-violent determination.

Downstairs at the Linhong headquarters building.

Lin Wangye, having taken the elevator down a step ahead, squatted by the edge of the roadside greenery. His left hand propped up his head, while his right poked at an ant nest in the soil with a dried branch he had picked up.

He stayed there, bored out of his mind, for quite a while before his gaze finally landed on Lu Chengxuan’s car parked across the street.

Damn—it was a limited edition from over ten years ago, and it still looked so damn tempting!

In his previous life, Lin Wangye had been the epitome of a rich second-generation kid—pampered from birth, wrapped in luxury, never having to worry about anything, always getting whatever he wanted.

He hadn’t picked up the bad habits—gambling or chasing girls—but aside from playing games, he had a genuine interest in material things like luxury watches and fancy cars.

Most people chase uniqueness; they don’t want to blend in.

Lin Wangye used to chase individuality, always wanting to stand out. So most of the clothes he wore were personally designed by Shi Yuan—unique in the entire world.

The watches on his wrist and the cars he drove were naturally expensive, chosen deliberately.

But that didn’t mean he worshipped luxury; he still loved street food and cheap snacks. Limited editions and high prices were just one of the few ways to make rare things feel more satisfying to get.

If you want something rare and cool, luxury items are the only option.

His family had the means, and whatever he wanted, they never said no. Uncle Shi lived alone, and almost all his money went to spoiling Lin Wangye—luxury watches and cars worth millions were gifted as easily as giving candy.

When you’re in it, you don’t realize it. Looking back now, Lin Wangye thought, damn, I really lived in a world of indulgence back then.

Compared to that, this life was pitiful.

When he first came here, he was dirt poor—he’d treat a single coin like gold. He hadn’t even touched a luxury car’s steering wheel. A car accident in the past left him with a mental block, so he hadn’t dared to get a driver’s license.

Fortunately, Uncle Shi had taught him the value of material things from an early age, so he never developed a deep obsession with luxury items; he just loved to play.

Otherwise, the contrast between these two lives would’ve been brutal.

Thinking this, Lin Wangye tossed the branch into the greenery, stood up, and walked over to Lu Chengxuan’s limited-edition Bentley. He circled it slowly, admiring every line and curve, muttering praise under his breath.

He could ignore it if he wanted, but once he thought about it, his hands itched.

Maybe it was time to finally get a driver’s license.

With a guy like Lu Chengxuan, he might even lend me the car to drive!

Thinking that, Lin Wangye started considering buying a car himself. Having his own car would be convenient for daily commutes and trips. He couldn’t keep treating Lu Chengxuan like his personal chauffeur.

Given his current finances, buying a Bentley like this would be over the top, but something in the tens of thousands range was doable.

Before Shi Yuan returned to the country, he’d get one—perfect for self-driving trips later on.

Feeling a little tired from standing, Lin Wangye sat down on the car hood. His calves ached from squatting earlier. Pulling out his phone, he began browsing for the best car models from recent years.

Halfway through his research, he noticed some noise nearby. He looked up and saw three or four guys standing in front of him.

The leader, a chubby guy, spotted him and spoke first.

“Hey kid, move aside.”

“Huh?”

“I said move, don’t just stand there.”

“Why should I move?”

“No reason, just hurry up and stop taking up space. Did I make myself hard to understand? Move a little, is that so hard?”

Lin Wangye paused, staring at them for a moment before finally realizing what was going on.

They wanted to snap photos of the car for social media, just showing off.

He’d seen plenty of people like this in his past life, but this was his first encounter in this one.

Everyone has a bit of a show-off streak, and cars parked on the street are hard to avoid. In the past, Lin Wangye didn’t really care; as long as it didn’t waste his time, he’d even wait nearby for people to finish taking pictures before driving off.

But this chubby guy’s tone was really unpleasant, grating in a way that made him annoyed.

Lin Wangye still had that ‘young maste’ temper. Faced with this situation, he naturally felt annoyed. He stayed put on the hood, raised his chin, and said to them coolly, “I’m not moving. I’m not in your way. Did the road suddenly become your property?”

Hearing this, the others also got angry. They moved in aggressively, trying to use numbers to intimidate him.

The chubby guy noticed Lin Wangye wasn’t wearing any brand-name clothes and sounded even more overbearing: “Is this your car, sitting here like this?”

Lin Wangye straightened his back and responded even more firmly:

“It’s not mine. Or is it yours?”

“Hey, you really don’t know when to shut up, huh?” The chubby leader snapped instantly, anger flaring. It was broad daylight on the street, so he couldn’t resort to violence—only verbal jabs. “It’s not your car, so why the hell are you sitting there? Look at you, poor little punk—you probably never even touched a car this nice in your life! Better enjoy it while you can, or once it drives off, that’s it for you!”

Lin Wangye grinned. “Big brother, your self-introduction is just… spot on.”

“You…”

Those few words hit the chubby guy like a punch. He lunged forward, ready to curse.

Just then, Lin Wangye felt the car shudder beneath him, followed by the soft click of the door unlocking.

He turned his head and saw Lu Chengxuan and Lin Shen walking toward them.

Lu Chengxuan’s aura was obvious, commanding even, while Lin Shen, relaxed and casual as always, wore a work-appropriate casual suit.

Street corners were full of cameras. Normally, if someone wanted to sneak photos of a luxury car, they’d only get close carefully, or else risk scratching the paint and getting caught on surveillance—maybe even having to pay for damages.

But Lin Wangye was still sitting squarely on the hood of a nearly five-million-yuan Bentley. If it weren’t for the slight slip, he probably would’ve been sitting cross-legged mid-hood.

Seeing that the two had come out of the Linhong building, the chubby guy immediately guessed they were the owners.

Noticing the smug, entertained expressions on their faces, Lin Wangye rolled his eyes once, jumped down from the car, and blocked the driver’s side door. He held out his palm toward Lu Chengxuan, curling his fingers in a beckoning gesture.

Lu Chengxuan and Lin Shen had just stepped out—they had no idea what was going on.

But it was obvious Lin Wangye was asking for something. Lu Chengxuan looked down and realized all he had in his hand was the car key, so he raised it and handed it over.

The plan worked. Lin Wangye tossed the key in the air and caught it, then turned around triumphantly. He opened the driver’s door with flair, slid into the seat, and pressed the window button, raising his chin at the two men still standing by the roadside.

“Get in.”

Lin Shen glanced at Lu Chengxuan and, realizing what was happening, let out a soft laugh. He put his hands in his pockets, opened the rear door, and climbed in.

Lu Chengxuan hesitated for two seconds, then followed suit.

As Lin Wangye briefly honked the horn, the men immediately stepped aside and left.

Lin Wangye gripped the steering wheel, sitting back casually. Once they were gone, he jumped out, opened the rear door, and bowed repeatedly to Lu Chengxuan, gesturing toward the driver’s seat.

“Sorry, sorry! I’m just showing off, Brother Lu. You, you take the seat!”

Lu Chengxuan, sitting patiently in the back playing along, didn’t say much. He quietly got out and moved to the front seat. Lin Wangye settled in the rear and buckled up, while Lin Shen was nearly laughing his head off.

Lin Wangye scratched his head in confusion, completely baffled.

“What are you laughing at? Is it that funny?!”

Lin Shen didn’t answer right away. He held his stomach, laughing so hard it took him a while to catch his breath. Then, trying to hold back the laughter, he patted Lin Wangye on the shoulder and said earnestly, “Do you really think, after what you just did, they’d believe you’re the car owner or the driver?”

Lin Wangye froze for a moment. When it finally sank in, he slapped his forehead, wishing he could punch himself into oblivion.

“Damn! I knew something felt off!”

Seeing his regretful and embarrassed expression, Lin Shen completely lost it, bursting into another round of wild laughter. While laughing, he reached over and pinched Lin Wangye’s cheek, laughing so hard he could barely breathe. A moment later, noticing the car hadn’t left yet, he couldn’t resist waving at Lu Chengxuan in front of him.

“Hahaha, why aren’t you leaving yet, Mister Driver? Hahahahaha!”

“Buckle your seatbelt,” Lu Chengxuan said calmly.

“Ha!” Lin Shen laughed so hard he almost fainted. He looked down, then finally obeyed: “Oh, right, right! Let’s go, Mister Driver! Hahahahaha…”

Lin Wangye, already embarrassed at having pretended to be a chauffeur-cum-executive, felt even more mortified as Lin Shen laughed uncontrollably. He wanted nothing more than to disappear into a crack in the ground. Luckily, the humiliation didn’t extend outside—otherwise, it would’ve been unbearable.

The three of them were heading to a seaside barbecue restaurant. The scenery was beautiful, and the food was good, though it was a bit far—around forty minutes including traffic.

They had planned this meal together because today was November 11th—Lin Wangye’s twentieth birthday.

The November weather was just right, and by the seaside at night, a gentle sea breeze blew. With jackets on, it wasn’t cold at all. The restaurant required a membership and reservations; it had a refined setting, with both indoor and outdoor seating.

Inside were normal dining halls and private rooms, while the outdoor tables and chairs were set up directly on the beach.

Since the seats had been reserved, the birthday cake was already waiting on the table when they arrived. Lin Wangye didn’t hesitate and opened it to find his favorite red velvet cake. In cream on top were the words ‘Happy Birthday,’ simple and elegant.

The three of them pulled out their chairs and sat down. Lin Shen lit the ‘2’ and ‘0’ candles on the cake and smiled at him. “Happy birthday, Little Miracle Lin! Make a wish!”

Lu Chengxuan didn’t say a word. He quietly held his hand near the candle flames, shielding them from the sea breeze.

In his past life, Lin Wangye never went out to celebrate his birthday. Every year, he spent it with his family.

Chairman Lin would try his best to make it, and if he couldn’t, Uncle Shi and his aunt would be there.

After staring at the flickering flames swaying in the wind for a while, Lin Wangye looked out toward the horizon over the sea. He stood up from his chair and said softly, “I hope…”

“Hey, hey, hey.”

Lin Shen interrupted him, raising a hand and making a gesture.

“Close your eyes. Don’t say it out loud. Be sincere, or it won’t work.”

Lin Wangye pursed his lips, then obediently closed his eyes, clasping his hands together tightly.

He wished that everyone in this life could be happy.

He wished that Suihe would recover soon.

He wished that my dad would live forever.

Every year, his wishes were simple and pure. After a pause of six or seven seconds, Lin Wangye opened his eyes, leaned forward, and blew out the candles.

“Happy birthday!”

Lin Shen’s smile was deeper than before. Fully immersed in his ‘atmosphere master’ role, he clapped enthusiastically, then asked deliberately, “So… what’s the thing you want most right now?”

Lin Wangye zipped his lips with a gesture, keeping his mouth firmly shut. “I’m not saying! If I say it out loud, it won’t work!”

“Just say one!” Lin Shen clasped his hands together, acting all mystical. “If you dare tell me, I’ll perform a ritual and make it come true!”

Lin Wangye’s eyes lit up. “Really?”

“Absolutely.” Lin Shen nodded, hinting earnestly: “Remember, it has to be the thing you most desire right now, the one you want more than anything else.”

Without hesitation, Lin Wangye slammed the table with a grin: “I want Brother Lu’s Bentley!”

A gentle sea breeze blew, and within three meters around the table, silence fell.

Lin Shen scratched his head, looking around, his gaze finally settling on Lu Chengxuan. “This… damn it…”

Seeing Lin Shen stumble over his words, Lin Wangye laughed so hard he nearly fell backward. He was about to say he was joking when Lu Chengxuan spoke first.

“When the hotel opens its tenth branch, I’ll get you a new one.”

Lin Wangye’s eyes went wide, almost lifting off the ground. “Long live Brother Lu!”

Lin Shen was dumbfounded, his eyes practically popping out. “Holy… you’re serious?”

Lu Chengxuan didn’t say another word, but Lin Wangye knew that what he said counted. He was over the moon, humming a little tune as he got ready to cut the cake—until Lin Shen stopped him.

“Are you sure you have no other wishes?” Lin Shen hinted frantically.

“Nope, I already made them.”

Lin Wangye held the plastic cake knife, sitting in his chair, thinking hard but unable to come up with any wishes he’d forgotten.

He picked up a plate to cut the cake, and as soon as he reached out, he felt warmth above his head.

A hand had gently threaded through his hair, caressing his scalp with an almost unbearably tender touch—its rhythm and pressure so familiar it was instantly recognizable.

Lin Wangye barely had time to think. His body reacted on instinct: he turned and looked up. The moment he saw the person standing behind him, his heartbeat seemed to stop entirely.

Shi Yuan had been standing behind him for who knows how long.

His features had always been striking, but after two years of transformation, he now exuded a more mature, refined presence. Beyond looks, what had changed most was the aura and poise radiating from within.

The change was subtle yet earth-shattering—definitely not something as simple as swapping glasses.

If one had to describe it precisely, it was like a dusty gem, now meticulously polished and shining brilliantly for the first time.

As Lin Wangye looked up, Shi Yuan’s palm moved to gently caress the side of his face, tenderly, as if holding a priceless treasure.

“Happy birthday.”
