Chapter 29: Sexy Wildcat Available 24/7
Holy crap! What the hell did they just see?
Selling salted duck eggs is one thing, but what the hell is this kid?
【Shock Level 2000】Rong Ziyin’s veterinary classmates were all stunned. For several seconds, they couldn’t react.
It took a full minute before someone finally mustered the courage to ask Rong Ziyin, “Genius, did someone hack your account?”
In less than a minute, Rong Ziyin replied, “Nope. Want some salted duck eggs?”
The asker, usually a joker himself, offered advice: “Top student, this won’t do! Your tone’s too stiff. You gotta be as friendly as you are with us classmates.”
In the veterinary chatroom, Rong Ziyin pondered the comment and found it somewhat reasonable.
He promptly replied: “Gotcha, kiddo. Your old man’s grabbing lunch now. Link below—order yourself.”
Rong Ziyin’s classmate: “…”
【Confused Level 333】
System: Rong, seriously—with that attitude, if you manage to sell a single salted duck egg, I’ll kneel and call you Dad!
But before the System could finish, a WeChat notification popped up—someone had actually placed an order on Rong Ziyin’s newly created Weidian store, though it was only for five eggs.
And after that first order, several more trickled in one after another.
Rong Ziyin: Kid?
System: …Dad.
So what the heck was going on with Rong Ziyin’s classmates?! The System was utterly speechless.
But Rong Ziyin actually understood perfectly. It was just like how he’d pitched to those top students earlier that morning.
College students really are the quintessential hoarding hamsters when it comes to daily life. After all, once the supermarkets close at night and the dorm building gates shut, if you get genuinely hungry for a late-night snack, even delivery can’t reach you.
Thus, instant noodles, spicy jerky, and mini hotpots became essential staples for nearly every college student.
Even after lights-out, the tempting aromas of these convenience foods wafted through the halls every other night.
Therefore, as the perfect companion to these foods, salted duck eggs might not be a staple for everyone, but they certainly had a market.
As for the whole “son” and “dad” thing? Guys occasionally crack jokes like that without taking offense.
But since he was the sugar daddy, Rong Ziyin quickly updated his WeChat Moments again.
This time it was salted duck eggs paired with dry noodles. Rong Ziyin photoshopped a line of text on top: “Buy my duck eggs, and you’ll be my forever sugar daddy!”
Attached was an emoji—the same bald little man, but this time sporting an adorable pink fluffy cat on his head and a pink fluffy tail trailing behind him.
Above his head, cartoon text read: Sexy Kitten Available 24/7 for Your Service.
System: …Rong, what on earth have you been watching online lately?!
But the absolute best part was the veterinary department’s bunch of big shots. They actually placed the order while laughing their heads off.
College friendships are generally pretty mellow most of the time. Sure, there might be little spats and disagreements here and there, but when it comes down to it, a department is like one big family. When trouble hits, you gotta stick together.
Rong Ziyin was family, after all. Everyone needed to stock up on supplies anyway—supporting a fellow student’s business meant keeping the profits within the family.
Plus, Rong Ziyin’s recent feat of rallying a group to pull an all-nighter on a paper was still the talk of the campus. He was undoubtedly the face of the veterinary department.
So, if you’re a brother, you gotta step up! Buy it! Buy it! Buy it!
A roaring start! In just a short while, Rong Ziyin sold over three hundred salted duck eggs. Combined with the morning’s sales, the total exceeded four hundred.
System: That was incredibly fast! Normally, selling a hundred or two in a day at the town market is considered a good haul.
Rong Ziyin: Because it’s the first day. It won’t be this fast later. Nobody eats salted duck eggs every day—ten should last them over half a month.
The System understood Rong Ziyin’s meaning. Still, it was quite pleased. The sales volume proved Rong Ziyin’s approach was correct.
Time was running out. After packing up his things, Rong Ziyin planned to head home to rest.
Passing by the snack shop on the way, Rong Ziyin paused, then went inside to ask the shop owner to pack two dishes and a large bowl of rice for takeout.
System: Host, did you not eat enough tonight?
Rong Ziyin: No, it’s for Ji Shu.
It had only occurred to him as he passed by that he hadn’t seen Ji Shu all day. None of the villagers coming to the livestock station had mentioned him either—as if he hadn’t left his house at all.
But then again, maybe not. Remembering how Ji Shu had been sleeping when he left that morning, he recalled him yesterday, crouching by the door with a goose in his arms, waiting for him to come home.
If he really slept through the entire day, he’d probably still be without food. Since their time together had been pleasant enough, he couldn’t just watch someone starve to death in his own courtyard. So Rong Ziyin decided to bring Ji Shu a meal.
But when Rong Ziyin arrived home, something felt off.
From afar, he heard the sharp, frantic honking of geese echoing from the small courtyard, sounding as if they were in extreme distress.
System: Is that the gosling?
Rong Ziyin: Probably.
As he spoke, Rong Ziyin gave the gate a hard shove.
It wouldn’t budge?
The geese inside seemed to hear the commotion at the gate and honked even louder.
Through the door, Rong Ziyin could almost see the stream of cries wafting out: “Daddy! Father! Waaahhh…”
This chaotic mess was baffling. Rarely flustered, Rong Ziyin frantically searched his pockets for keys.
But the more he panicked, the harder it was to find them. Finally, setting his meal aside, he raised his foot and kicked the gate with all his might.
“Bang!” The gate swung open. The recoil from the kick sent a dull tingling through Rong Ziyin’s calf.
But he had no time to think about that. Rushing into the yard, he found Ji Shu collapsed face-down on the table, seemingly unconscious.
“Ji Shu!” Rong Ziyin hurried over to check on him, only to have Ji Shu suddenly grab his hand.
The next second, Ji Shu wrapped his arms around Rong Ziyin’s waist, practically collapsing into his embrace.
System: Holy crap! Holy crap! What kind of plot twist is this?!
Rong Ziyin froze for a moment. Something was off with Ji Shu. He could feel the person clinging to him trembling uncontrollably.
“Ji Shu? What’s wrong?” Rong Ziyin whispered.
But Ji Shu remained unresponsive. Only after a long while did he wearily rest his head against Rong Ziyin’s abdomen and murmur, “Little Doctor Rong is so mean. Locking me up this morning to play weird games.”
“Having nightmares?” Ignoring Ji Shu’s nonsense, Rong Ziyin lifted his head to examine his complexion closely.
Though much better than when he’d first entered, his complexion remained deathly pale, making him look pitifully wretched.
A pang of concern tugged at Rong Ziyin’s heart. He pressed softly, “I locked the door. Why didn’t you open it yourself?”
“Couldn’t get it open,” Ji Shu grumbled, tightening his grip around Rong Ziyin’s waist before suddenly blurting out, “You don’t have abs.”
“Stop talking nonsense!” Seeing Ji Shu seemed fine now, Rong Ziyin reached out to brush away the hand clinging to him.
But Ji Shu persisted, leaning closer. “I’m not talking nonsense. Yours just aren’t as defined as mine.”
“…”
“Don’t be mad! How about I let you feel them?” Ji Shu tugged at Rong Ziyin’s sleeve, trying to nuzzle closer, only to bump into a bewildered goose face.
Ji Shu: ???
Rong Ziyin shoved a handful of greens into his hands. “Once you’re done, go feed your goose. It’s starving.”
The goose pitifully shook the tuft of fluff on its head: Yeah, Dad! I’m starving to death, Dad!
So Ji Shu ended up feeding the goose after all. Rong Ziyin, meanwhile, went to the kitchen to reheat the rice.
Throughout this, Rong Ziyin discreetly observed Ji Shu through the window, his brow furrowing as he watched.
System: Is Ji Shu suffering from some kind of illness?
Rong Ziyin: Hmm, likely. It resembles something like claustrophobia, though I’m not a medical professional and can’t diagnose it definitively.
Recalling Ji Shu’s unusual sleeping posture when he left that morning, Rong Ziyin felt a growing sense of puzzlement.
Over these past two days, he felt Ji Shu was quite different from the rumors circulating outside. Especially in personality and habits—they were worlds apart.
But this was better. Ji Shu knew his limits, meaning they wouldn’t clash too much in the future. If he’d been some reckless playboy instead, that would’ve been the real trouble.
Looking at it this way, Rong Ziyin found Ji Shu rather endearing.
System: …So why didn’t you have this same awareness when you were eyeing girls?
Rong Ziyin: Cut the nonsense! You can’t disrespect the young lady.
So you disrespect girls when you look at them, but it’s perfectly fine to stare at men? The system felt struck by lightning, speechless for a long while.
Meanwhile, the cherished little demon Ji Shu, having finished feeding the goslings, also entered the kitchen.
He must have used this time to take a bath and change clothes. Now, with his elegant bearing and deep, affectionate gaze, he was once again the impeccably dressed young master.
He seemed to enjoy watching Rong Ziyin cook, staring intently for long stretches.
“Alright! Set the table in the courtyard. Dinner’s ready.” Rong Ziyin called out to Ji Shu.
“Got it.” Ji Shu complied.
After that, while Ji Shu ate, Rong Ziyin busied himself tidying up the courtyard.
The ducks needed feeding, and that small vegetable patch was due for watering. Rong Ziyin went about his daily routine as usual.
It was all perfectly ordinary, yet Ji Shu, who had been eating, suddenly froze, staring intently at Rong Ziyin.
“What are you doing?” Rong Ziyin turned to look at Ji Shu.
“Nothing.” Ji Shu immediately lowered his head, the tips of his ears flushing crimson.
Rong Ziyin turned back to his tasks, but before long, Ji Shu had sidled up beside him again, trailing like a little tail.
“Go on, go eat!” Rong Ziyin pushed him away, only to have Ji Shu tackle him from behind.
“No way!” Ji Shu protested with righteous indignation.
Rong Ziyin pinched his hand and yanked him off. “Go eat!”
Ji Shu giggled and wrestled with Rong Ziyin until the food was nearly cold before finally returning to the table.
Even then, his mouth never stopped. “Doctor Rong, what’s your zodiac sign?”
“Rabbit.” Rong Ziyin answered without hesitation.
“Ah, rabbit.” Ji Shu sighed. “I’m definitely not that.”
Rong Ziyin: “Then what are you?”
Seeing Rong Ziyin take the bait, Ji Shu answered cheerfully, “I belong to you!”
That cheesy line was so smooth it was ridiculous.
The System shuddered.
But Rong Ziyin was busy spraying pesticide on aphid-infested roses and didn’t catch Ji Shu’s trailing “you!” He instinctively retorted, “Don’t be ridiculous. Where in the zodiac is there a fish?”
Ji Shu: ???
【Confusion Level 1000】
System: Hahahahahaha, epic. Brilliant. My iron-willed host truly lives up to his name.
Rong Ziyin genuinely didn’t understand why they were reacting so strongly. Seeing Ji Shu had finished eating, he instructed him to clear the table before heading inside to get some early rest.
After all the turmoil these past days, coupled with his thesis getting rejected, even Rong Ziyin felt exhausted. With nothing major happening today, he planned to get a good night’s sleep. Plus, tomorrow was his day off—no need to go to the animal husbandry station—perfect for sleeping in.
So, at 9:30 PM sharp, Rong Ziyin, freshly showered, lay down in bed and drifted into dreams.
But trouble never comes alone.
At eleven, a phone call jolted Rong Ziyin awake. He answered instinctively, only to discover the caller was Yanjing Wildlife Park.
The wild boars they’d helped capture earlier had caused trouble again. The dominant male had gone into heat, and repeated doses of tranquilizer proved utterly useless.
Later, the boar rammed through the fence. Several interns tried to chase it down, only to get trapped in the enclosure themselves. The problem now was that the boar had been identified as a new species and couldn’t be harmed. But the interns were cornered by it and dared not move.
Finally, someone recalled that when the boar was first delivered, it was noted as exceptionally difficult to capture. It was ultimately subdued with the help of Rong Ziyin, a veterinarian from the county town.
With the supervisor unreachable, the on-duty staff decided to try their luck and called Rong Ziyin.
Rong Ziyin paused briefly before urgently asking for details.
What surprised Rong Ziyin even more was discovering that the ones cornered were none other than his university roommates.
Veterinary internships were limited to a handful of placements. When Yanjing Wildlife Park needed interns, Rong Ziyin’s roommates—already clinging to the coattails of a wealthy second-generation heir—got a sweet deal. The heir threw in a favor, bundling all four of them together for the wildlife park placement.
This was a public institution, and securing a position there wouldn’t be too shabby. After all, given their skill level, if they ended up at a private pet hospital, they might find themselves in daily altercations with clients.
Coincidentally, the wild boars’ aggressive behavior was entirely their own doing.
When Rong Ziyin sent this herd away, he offered the wildlife park a humanitarian suggestion. Since the boars all came from the same population and included a dominant male, he advised against separating them. Instead, he recommended releasing the entire herd into a wild area to avoid disrupting their ecosystem.
The staff at the wildlife park were all experienced practitioners.
After reviewing Rong Ziyin’s medical instructions, they understood everything. Consequently, they followed his recommendation.
Rong Ziyin’s roommates happened to be assigned to care for the boars. Upon discovering Rong Ziyin’s instructions, they grew resentful. Thus, relying on their superficial knowledge, they forcibly reassigned them.
The boar, who had been peacefully tending to his harem, suddenly found all his wives gone. Naturally, he set out to deal with these shameless and despicable humans.
This led to the incident where Rong Ziyin and his four roommates were charged into the trap.
So when Rong Ziyin answered the video call from the wildlife park, the first scene he saw was the four useless slackers in the dorm corner, cornered by a wild boar.
The kicker was that they were surrounded by fences—they hadn’t even fired a tranquilizer dart yet.
And the boar was currently pinned against one of them, performing an exceptionall
y lewd act.
Overhead, comments flooded the screen: “This little bitch sure is feisty.”
That accent? Turns out it was a Sichuan boar.
System: So, Host, what exactly are they doing?
Rong Ziyin paused for a moment before choosing a more refined term: mating.
