HTLCCBFT Chapter 171

Has The Lord’s Career Chart Been Filled Today? – Chapter 171

Almost as soon as the words left his mouth, Oliver braced himself for the incoming cat pounce.

Sure enough, the cat-eared secretary froze for only a negligible moment before the pen controlled by the golden mist clattered onto the desk.

It’s coming.

The instant that thought crossed Oliver’s mind, a flash of golden light swept past his eyes. He was immediately pinned by an irresistible force, sinking deeply into the absurdly large, soft bed.

“Oliver!”

Unable to find adequate words to describe his current elation, the deity with handsome features but simple, straightforward instincts could only follow his intuitive impulses.

While joyfully calling out his beloved little believer’s name, he clung to Oliver almost entirely like a cat that had just secured its most precious treasure in its paws, unconsciously planting kisses on those beautifully shaped lips.

Happiness must be the most contagious emotion in the world, Oliver thought.

Just seeing the Cat God become so overjoyed by such simple words made him unable to suppress his own smile.

“I love Oliver the most too.”

After many kisses, the uncontrollable deity gradually calmed down, gently lifting the golden-haired lord’s upper body.

Staring unblinkingly into those deep blue eyes while holding the slender waist of the person in his arms, he seriously emphasized: “I love Oliver the most.”

Oliver, who had always believed he treated the other as nothing more than a harmless big cat to tolerate such intimate behavior, felt his heartbeat suddenly accelerate when their eyes met.

Like dense raindrops beating on an outdoor drum set, creating complex and chaotic rhythms.

What was happening?

Oliver didn’t dwell on it.

He smiled and, preparing for future possibilities, continued giving preventive reassurance to the one who had historically shown strong jealousy: “You’re with me every day, so you should know very well that I only say such things to you, right?”

The Cat God thought quietly for a moment before nodding in agreement.

“To me, Fosse is certainly very important,” Oliver said, thinking that some old subordinates might soon return to his side. To prevent the Cat God’s jealousy from flaring up again, he deliberately softened his voice, reasoning with the particularly agreeable deity: “But you must remember, he’s just my most valued subordinate, while you are my most beloved, most relied upon unique deity.” From any perspective, my subordinates could never be your rivals, and you really don’t need to mind their presence.”

Among all deities, he had only ever personally met this one.

Completely unaware of Oliver’s careful maneuvering, the deity contentedly held his only beloved little believer, his ears giving a slight twitch before tilting outward, clearly deep in thought.

After a short while, he nodded seriously.

But before Oliver could sigh in relief, he spoke somewhat dejectedly: “However, Oliver always assigns tasks to them, but rarely lets me help.”

This time, He had deliberately knocked Spire unconscious specifically to fulfill Oliver’s wish… yet judging by Oliver’s startled expression at the time, he didn’t seem particularly delighted either.

He corrected: “Oliver, you don’t rely on me at all.”

“Of course that’s not true.”

In response to His “accusation,” Oliver immediately refuted without batting an eye.

After drawing the Cat God’s gaze, he quickly contemplated and understood where this simple-minded deity’s confusion lay, smiling as he explained:

“My wisest, most beloved deity, don’t you understand yet?”

Understand what?

The pure golden pupils were clear and bright, clearly reflecting the beautiful little liar’s figure within them.

“When it comes to matters involving other people, I truly don’t want you to personally run about and busy yourself. I’d rather have them resolve things themselves as much as possible, or send Fosse instead.”

To the Cat God’s surprise, Oliver readily admitted this.

However, before He could feel disappointed, the beautiful Angel Duke pursed his lips, revealing a hint of shyness He had never seen before but was instantly deeply captivated by, softly saying: “Exalted and holy deity, I’m afraid you might not comprehend the filthy desires unique to humans—”

“No.”

“Even Oliver,” the tall deity who had been quietly listening couldn’t help but frown, interrupting Oliver’s words, “is not allowed to call himself filthy.”

Oliver is the best.

Though unspoken, this answer was clearly written in His eyes.

Oliver couldn’t help but chuckle and nod: “Alright.”

Suddenly interrupted like this, Oliver almost couldn’t continue his nonsense.

Nevertheless, he quickly regained his composure, fully immersed in his role as he lowered his gaze with slight shame in his tone, continuing his explanation:

“My apologies, Cat God. The real reason is something I’ve always been too embarrassed to admit to you.”

The golden-haired deity listening with utmost focus suddenly froze.

As Oliver spoke, a trace of hesitation flashed through his eyes, but he still leaned forward slightly.

Was this some inexplicable impulse?

Before he could properly think it through, he had already done what he intended.

The touch was light, and brief.

But he truly couldn’t resist actively kissing… His lips.

The handsome deity’s eyes slowly widened.

Perhaps encouraged by His foolish reaction, the Lord whose heart was pounding wildly in his chest found the courage to continue “fabricating lies.”

And so.

“Because,” the little believer’s pleasant voice carrying a hint of lazy laughter softly echoed in the dazed deity’s ears, like the most beautiful and proud rose in the divine realm blooming wantonly only before the deity it loved: “that cunning believer… wants to selfishly monopolize this deity’s love, to forever remain the only one in His eyes.”

In most circumstances, the forced rest period attached to the game system only brought trouble to the Lord who attempted to stay up late.

Only on rare occasions would he cunningly exploit it.

Like after speaking those sweet lies enough to confuse a deity, he could avoid worrying about how to deal with the deity when He came back to his senses.

The Cat God could now close his eyes and sink into deep slumber on his own terms.

When he opened his eyes again, daylight streamed in, and the Cat God’s emotions had usually returned to calm—at least relatively so.

This was Oliver’s thought before lifting his eyelids, and then… he was met with a natural, almost assertive kiss.

“Good morning, Oliver.”

The handsome deity, having self-taught the “morning kiss,” greeted him earnestly.

Oliver blinked before replying hesitantly, “Good morning, dear Cat God.”

After absorbing enough pure and powerful faith energy to condense a complete divine body, the deity no longer needed to enter any so-called sleep state.

While Oliver “escaped” into slumber, He unusually refrained from forcibly bringing his soul into the divine realm, instead lying seriously by his side.

Gazing unwaveringly at that handsome sleeping face, He pondered incessantly.

Of course, even if other deities were present, none could discern what conclusion He ultimately reached.

To Oliver, since he woke up, the Cat God’s aura had undergone a subtle, indescribable shift—more composed, more natural, more assertive, and more…

Before the newly awakened lord could find the right words to describe it, the deity seized the opportunity with utter composure and kissed him again.

Oliver: “……”

Had those sweet nothings he used to coax the Cat God last night triggered some strange switch?

“I won’t mind Fosse anymore.”

He said abruptly.

“Nor will I mind Noel.”

He gazed openly at Oliver, expression serious, even stern.

Yet anyone could see the overflowing joy in His slightly twitching ears and the high, fluffy tail held aloft.

As if having transformed overnight into a “mature and sensible” guise, He spoke methodically: “I won’t look at others… I never cared about them anyway. So, Oliver, don’t worry.”

A flicker of confusion and emptiness passed through Oliver’s eyes.

……What was I worried about?

Freshly awakened and not yet fully alert, Lord Laina felt unprecedentedly overwhelmed when faced with the spirited, intensely energetic golden-haired deity.

“I need no one else.”

Uttering words more willful than any deity’s, He kissed his beloved tenderly while making a solemn promise: “I have only you, and want only you. I won’t look at others—only you.”

There were too many things He wished to say, many of which He still didn’t know how to express.

But this time, He felt no rush.

All along, though He had refrained from using Divine Sense to eavesdrop on Oliver’s thoughts for fear of upsetting him, the Source Divine Power from His divinity never lied.

He had clearly sensed that Oliver spoke the truth last night.

“Hearing what you said last night made me very happy.”

Deities grow stronger with more faith energy and fade into slumber as faith wanes.

But such concerns held no place in His thoughts now.

From the moment He first possessed a hazy wisp of consciousness and extended His Divine Sense for the very first time, he had occupied His entirety.

He alone received His love.

He alone held His heart.

From the instant He heard his words of wanting to possess Him exclusively, every rose hidden within His Divine Temple was awakened by His bewitched Divinity, blooming all at once.

“I shall only be your God, Oliver.”

Facing His own Divinity, facing His own Oliver—the God of Wealth made this vow.
