OFCC – Chapter 63

Yi Wulan emphasized again, “I really won’t.”

Mu Yanxi was lying on top of Yi Wulan, ignoring what she said and just humming “mm-hmm” perfunctorily, clearly not taking Yi Wulan’s words seriously.

She postured to kiss Yi Wulan again, and couldn’t be pulled away.

Yi Wulan tried to dodge twice but couldn’t, so she had to grab the nape of Mu Yanxi’s neck again.

Finally, she managed to calm the person down a little, her voice soft and gentle: “Yanxi.”

Mu Yanxi shook her head, trying to shake off Yi Wulan’s hand. When she failed, she indeed started weaving lies again. Not struggling or making a fuss, she looked at Yi Wulan with deep affection and said:

“Alright, alright, Yi Wulan, of course I believe you. After all, you pined for me for so many years. Now that you’ve finally gotten me, you certainly won’t be easily influenced. I believe you.”

Yi Wulan’s lips pressed together lightly. Knowing that nothing she said now would be useful, she subconsciously didn’t refute Mu Yanxi’s words. She just kept a straight face and pressed Mu Yanxi’s head into the side of her neck, not wanting to look into those eyes that were so adept at unsettling one’s heart.

Mu Yanxi had always been very delicate. When she climbed onto Yi Wulan, she had adjusted her position several times according to her own preference. But now, being held forcefully in her arms, she didn’t feel the slightest bit ‘comfortable’.

Her chin rested in the crook of Yi Wulan’s neck, and the other’s breath fell on her ear, one puff after another. Perhaps it was the little emotions stirring in Mu Yanxi’s heart, but she felt her ear burning hot, and the tips of her ears quickly turned a bright red.

Mu Yanxi didn’t make a sound. The room temperature had been deliberately raised, and with the two of them pressed together, her whole body seemed to be generating heat.

She didn’t know if it was because she was being held too tightly, or because of her inner shame and indignation.

She wanted to escape this confinement, but as soon as she moved, the rustling sound of clothes and bedding rubbing together reached her ears again.

With every movement, she felt her ears turn a shade redder. After struggling for a long time without being able to escape, it seemed more like she was deliberately rubbing against Yi Wulan.

Mu Yanxi finally couldn’t take it anymore. Almost as if begging for mercy, she murmured, “Yi Wulan, let me go.”

Yi Wulan gently held her head, stroking the nape of her neck as if soothing a small animal, and repeated, “I won’t like him.”

Mu Yanxi: …

Mu Yanxi almost couldn’t resist the urge to bite someone.

She suddenly regretted bringing that up with Yi Wulan. Yi Wulan seemed to be genuinely trying to prove something, being excessively serious.

But their position was simply too ambiguous. It looked like Mu Yanxi was on top, yet she didn’t have a shred of what looked like the right to be proactive.

She could only bury her face in Yi Wulan’s shoulder, venting her frustration by taking Yi Wulan’s shoulder into her mouth, bite by bite, like a small animal grinding its teeth.

Normally, when Mu Yanxi ate snacks, she could crunch away nonstop for an entire evening. But now, after just biting back and forth two or three times, her open lips started to feel sore and numb, so weak that she couldn’t even be bothered to open her mouth.

The threat of biting was useless, so she had to beg for mercy. Mu Yanxi’s voice trembled dramatically, “Yi… Yi Wulan…”

Her trembling gasps lingered by her ear. Yi Wulan’s arms around Mu Yanxi suddenly tightened like never before. Mu Yanxi’s head lifted with the force, her pupils tinged with a bit of moisture, and an unnatural flush appeared on her cheeks.

In contrast, Yi Wulan’s face still wore that cool and detached expression, as if she were sitting upright in a study, holding some kind of meeting.

Mu Yanxi felt more and more embarrassed. Whimpering, she buried herself in Yi Wulan’s embrace again, so ashamed and indignant she couldn’t face herself.

But before she could compose herself, she discovered another crisis.

Yi Wulan had actually picked up the phone from the side and started searching for Mu Yanche’s name.

Mu Yanxi almost couldn’t stop herself from wanting to throw Yi Wulan’s phone off the bed.

She moved in to kiss Yi Wulan again, chiding her as she did, “Good Elder Sister, isn’t having me enough for you? How do you have the spare time to look at someone else?”

Yi Wulan cooperated for a few seconds before letting her go. “I want to see if he’s the person I know.”

“Of course he is. Don’t tell me he went and got plastic surgery to change his face over the years?” Mu Yanxi pouted and complained, then suddenly asked, “Who do you think is better looking, him or me?”

“You.” Yi Wulan didn’t hesitate at all.

Now, Mu Yanxi was satisfied. When Yi Wulan frowned, unable to find any information, she offered a rare reminder, “Drop the ‘Mu’. He stopped using that surname after he left.”

The page that reloaded was finally bustling with activity.

The entire webpage was flashy and gaudy, swept over by all sorts of overwhelming announcements. A man in a magnificent performance costume faced the dazzling stage lights, bathed in starlight, radiating brilliance.

Besides that, there were also many candid photos and meticulously edited pictures. His figure was thin and slender, his expression languid and leisurely, like a noble young master who could only be raised with pampering from a young age. Even through the screen, one could feel that infectious charm.

Yi Wulan didn’t speak, her gaze still fixed coldly on the person in the pictures.

It was no different from how she usually looked at Rongjia Entertainment’s artists, as if she were merely assessing their value in making money for her, and nothing more.

Unlike Yi Jingming, the supporting protagonist with his overpowered counter-attack story, Mu Yanche, the author’s clear favorite, had hardly suffered any setbacks. The novel’s author had given him almost all the beautiful things in this world.

He went abroad at a young age, became famous early on, and no longer used the surname Mu, yet he reaped all the benefits because of that name. His path was smooth sailing, and at the peak of his popularity, his contract expired, and he made a magnificent return.

Just as Mu Yanxi was in a daze, Yi Wulan clicked on a recent stage performance video of Mu Yanche.

Mu Yanxi also watched it seriously with her.

Watching this person who was both familiar and strange to her, listening to that familiar melody playing back in the quiet bedroom, it felt as if the world before her eyes had been completely occupied. When the song ended, the fans below the stage screamed continuously. Yi Wulan turned off the phone.

Seeing this, Mu Yanxi actually started to laugh, saying lightly, “Why did you stop watching?”

Yi Wulan said indifferently, “There’s nothing worth watching.”

But Mu Yanxi wouldn’t let it go, a gentle smile playing on her lips. “You see, all those fans adore him.

Yi Wulan, this is the kind of prestige a top celebrity should have. I’m still far from it.

See, I lied to you again.”

Yi Wulan’s pupils trembled slightly, but she quickly regained her composure and chided, “If you were to wear those messy clothes to…”

She paused, remembering the sensual, slightly vulgar dance moves in the video, and changed her wording, “…to perform, your elder sister would be the first to drag you home.”

“My elder sister would drag me home?” Mu Yanxi said, as if showing off, pressing her face affectionately against Yi Wulan’s. “What about you?”

“Nonsense.”

As soon as the words fell, Mu Yanxi burst out laughing. “Yi Wulan, his performance was approved by the censors. Don’t act like an old fossil from the Qing Dynasty. Besides, I wanted you to look at the person, not the performance.”

Yi Wulan remained silent, indicating her refusal.

For the first time, Mu Yanxi was a little curious about the stage performances of the top celebrities under Rongjia Entertainment.

But at this moment, she found Yi Wulan’s old-fashioned way of doing things exceptionally endearing. She had no doubt that if she continued to press, Yi Wulan would probably criticize every single one of Mu Yanche’s provocative dance moves.

Mu Yanxi blinked, then suddenly bumped against Yi Wulan’s lips. As if to prove something, she pressed her palm against Yi Wulan’s heart.

Yi Wulan’s steady heartbeat soon began to fluctuate.

Mu Yanxi’s lips curved up, but as they kissed, she took the initiative to stop.

Yi Wulan looked up at her, puzzled.

Mu Yanxi hesitated for a moment, then said vaguely, “Yi Wulan, have you ever thought that maybe I’m not as good as you imagine?”

Before Yi Wulan could speak, while she was still stunned, Mu Yanxi pressed against her again. “Look at him, so radiant and loved by so many people. Just like in the past, he was also very popular with the family.”

Yi Wulan finally reached out and held Mu Yanxi’s chin, getting a moment to breathe. She said with certainty, “You are very good.”

“Do you know why Mu Yanche went abroad back then?” Mu Yanxi completely ignored Yi Wulan’s attempt to stop her. She licked Yi Wulan’s fingers with the tip of her tongue, successfully making Yi Wulan pull her hand back.

Yi Wulan saw that something was off with Mu Yanxi’s state and didn’t want to ask.

But Mu Yanxi looked as if she had been waiting for her to ask, her eyes screaming, ‘Ask me, ask me, if you don’t ask soon I’m really going to burst.’

So, Yi Wulan had to play along and ask softly, “Why?”

“Because…” Having gotten her question, Mu Yanxi finally smiled.

She placed another affectionate kiss on her already moist lips. Their breaths mingled, but their eyes, in exactly the same way, held not a trace of romantic sentiment. “During that camping trip, he almost died in the mountains. I did it.”

Mu Yanxi was even still smiling. “So you see, I’m really not as good as you imagine.”

The music from the phone had long since faded. As her words fell, the bedroom became so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

Yi Wulan and Mu Yanxi looked at each other. After a long moment, the warm pad of her finger wiped heavily at the corner of Mu Yanxi’s eye, slightly dampening her fingertip. “I don’t believe you.”

Mu Yanxi looked at Yi Wulan with a bright smile, then suddenly had a realization. “Ah, you finally realized I was lying to you.”

Her eyes darted around as she praised, “President Yi is truly worthy of leading Rongjia at such a young age, seeing through my little trick at a glance.”

Yi Wulan’s fingertips, hidden under the covers, curled tightly, but her expression didn’t show it. “There must have been better ways back then, and your personality was clearly not that extreme. Why would you do that?”

“You and Yi Jingming share half your blood, yet you’ve fought for so many years.” Mu Yanxi’s smile didn’t fade. “It was even harder for me and Mu Yanche to get along.”

Yi Wulan released her hand and stared straight at Mu Yanxi’s face, posturing as if to kiss her.

Using Mu Yanxi’s own method: a kiss for the truth.

Who would have thought that this time, Mu Yanxi would reach out and block her lips.

“Hey, Elder Sister, Elder Sister, you already used that trick just now.” Mu Yanxi casually touched Yi Wulan’s lips, unwilling to talk about it anymore, and said offhandedly, “I really think my acting has improved recently. Do you want to throw a few hundred million at a movie for me? Hmm, it’s a bit of a rush, but it could probably make it for a Spring Festival release.”

She didn’t want to think about the events of those years right now. Her mind was groggy, and many things, even if she wanted to think about them, seemed to be locked away, the answers elusive.

Mu Yanxi’s mood started to turn irritable. Every time she tried to remember, she could clearly feel how those memories of hers had been erased bit by bit. Annoyed, she removed the hand she had placed on Yi Wulan’s lips and lay back down, nuzzling against Yi Wulan’s long hair.

Only the faint fragrance from Yi Wulan could make her feel a little better.

Just then, a soft sigh came from above her head. “You really want to?”

Mu Yanxi froze, thinking she was hearing things. “What?”

Yi Wulan said lightly, “Didn’t you say you wanted to make a movie?”

As if she wasn’t the one who had just been criticizing Mu Yanche.

“Forget it, being the female lead is too tiring.” Mu Yanxi tugged on Yi Wulan’s strap. “You might not see me for several months then.”

Making a movie isn’t like filming a TV series. With a few hundred million invested, forget about an indoor green screen; even a film studio wouldn’t be enough. They’d have to go shoot on location somewhere else.

Besides, for a reborn person like her, being able to heal Yi Wulan and let the people around her live well was enough.

“But…”

“I don’t want to be like Mu Yanche, using money to buy that kind of fame.” Mu Yanxi paused, remembering the unsigned document Yi Wulan had shown her, and immediately refused. “I’m making the decision on this. No reckless spending.”

Yi Wulan explained, “It’s not exactly reckless spending. Rongjia Entertainment approves funds to invest in some movies every year.”

Mu Yanxi was very thick-skinned. Although she usually spent money like water without restraint, at least it was all spent on adorning her own peacock feathers. This current idea of spending Yi Wulan’s money—no, you could say spending her own money—to buy fame was something she wanted no part of.

“Isn’t it just a movie? If you like, I can perform it just for you. Having so many people watch me during the Spring Festival release, how embarrassing.”

Yi Wulan looked at Mu Yanxi thoughtfully, trying to discern the truth in her words.

Mu Yanxi felt a little embarrassed from being stared at. She wrapped her arms tightly around Yi Wulan’s neck and said listlessly, “Yi Wulan, I’m so tired.”

Yi Wulan released her arms from around the person, her gaze falling on the empty space on the bed beside her, gesturing for her to sleep.

Mu Yanxi: …

Although there was nothing majorly wrong with this logic, given that Yi Wulan had already pinned her down on this bed twice today, Mu Yanxi subconsciously felt this action was out of the ordinary.

She said gloomily, “You’re just going to let me sleep like this?”

Yi Wulan frowned, not understanding.

Mu Yanxi rolled over to the side and lay down quietly.

Seeing Mu Yanxi actually lie down so obediently, Yi Wulan couldn’t help but sit up, a little surprised, and turned her head to look.

Mu Yanxi was staring at the wall with a vacant gaze, her thoughts unknown, her breathing growing heavier and heavier.

Yi Wulan’s heart suddenly trembled. She hesitated for a moment, then asked, “Why aren’t you sleeping? What are you thinking about?”

Mu Yanxi sensed Yi Wulan approaching but didn’t stop her. Her mood had been on a rollercoaster all day, and on top of that, she had been out in the cool wind in the garden for so long that her legs had gone numb from the cold. After all the commotion, her whole body was burning with a dense heat.

Fortunately, after her rebirth, Mu Yanxi had experienced the high fever of her ability upgrades several times. In comparison, this fever wasn’t too severe. Therefore, she had managed to put on a strong front in front of Yi Wulan just now. But now that she had quieted down, her mind was already dizzy and her consciousness was fading.

Facing Yi Wulan’s question, she just responded casually. A moment ago, she could still pretend and bluff her way through, but now fatigue washed over her, and she herself didn’t know if she was awake or asleep. With half-closed eyes, she mumbled, “Sister, when are Mom and Dad coming back?”

Yi Wulan finally noticed Mu Yanxi’s abnormally high body temperature. She softened her voice as much as possible, “Do you miss your mom and dad?”

Mu Yanxi stared at the wall with empty eyes for a long time. Suddenly, her feathered lashes trembled, and the corners of her eyes, which usually tilted upwards, drooped. Without warning, two streams of tears slid from the corners of her eyes.

Yi Wulan’s heart tightened. After quickly sending a message to the family doctor, she gently gathered Mu Yanxi into her arms and coaxed her like a small child, “You just sleep obediently. When you fall asleep, you’ll be able to see them in your dreams.”

Mu Yanxi’s shoulders trembled slightly, her unfocused eyes still vacant. She slowly turned and randomly grabbed Yi Wulan’s hand. Her view from above was blocked as she was held even tighter, her senses filled with a warm scent, just like when she was first brought back to the Mu family and held in her parents’ arms.

Mu Yanxi was stunned for a long time before she finally couldn’t hold back a choked sob.

Then, as if not wanting to be discovered, she bit her lip tightly.

Her lips, which had just regained their color, turned pale again. Only when she tasted blood in her mouth did Mu Yanxi stop, pulling on Yi Wulan’s hand and choking out:

“…It’s… it’s all my fault. I killed my mom and dad. It’s all because I couldn’t tolerate him. I know I was wrong, I won’t fight with him anymore, I… sob…”

Yi Wulan’s hand gently patted her shoulder, her voice even softer. “It’s not your fault. Uncle and Auntie died in a plane crash. Don’t let your imagination run wild.”

Mu Yanxi was trembling all over, as if trapped in a nightmare, constantly repeating, ‘It’s my fault.’ When Yi Wulan’s hand touched the nape of Mu Yanxi’s neck, she realized the other woman was soaked in sweat.

She quickly laid Mu Yanxi flat, intending to get out of bed to fetch some clean towels. But Mu Yanxi held onto her hand tightly, refusing to let go, randomly calling out “Mom, Dad, Sister” in a loop.

Mu Yanxi was burning up badly. Perhaps unable to bear it any longer, the ability within her body finally began to slowly take effect, and her eyes, driven by it, slowly closed.

It was as if she had been transported to a black space. She couldn’t see her hand in front of her face, and all around her was an endless expanse with no exit. She kept sinking in this space, with nothing to grab onto for support, only able to let herself fall into an ever-darkening abyss.

It was like a bottomless pit. The silence in her ears was gradually filled with all sorts of sounds, which were then gradually stripped away until, finally, the few remaining voices became clear.

“You really think you’re the young miss? Look at you, what part of you fits in here?”

“You pretend to be pitiful in front of Mom and Dad. You dropped out of school on purpose, didn’t you? Just to gain their sympathy?”

“Mu Yanxi, have you gone mute? Speak! Refute me!”

“It was you. It was you who couldn’t tolerate him, that’s why you caused your parents’ death.”

“You shouldn’t have fallen in love with Yi Wulan.”

“Mu Yanxi, you should be in love with Yi Jingming…”

Listening to the continuous, inescapable roars in her ears, Mu Yanxi couldn’t help but find it absurdly laughable.

This world served the protagonist. The so-called world consciousness was high and mighty, never treating the rest of them as real people.

After growing up, everyone envied her family background. The daughter of a tycoon, doted on and loved, the family she was engaged to was also extremely prominent. No one in Yuncheng’s upper-class circles dared to provoke her, and even the fledgling protagonist had to revolve around her.

But no one had ever asked her…

…if she actually liked this kind of life.

She would rather be an ordinary person from another world, so she wouldn’t have to lose her parents over one incident, wouldn’t have to lose her childhood memories for the protagonist’s needs, and wouldn’t have to hurt Yi Wulan’s sincere heart.

Mu Yanxi had never considered her family background to be something to be proud of.

Rumble—

The sound of thunder broke through the quiet night sky, also dispelling the incessant roars in Mu Yanxi’s mind, striking her muddled thoughts and bringing sudden clarity.

In a state between dream and wakefulness, Mu Yanxi felt an arm wrap around her, pulling her into an embrace. A damp towel gently wiped across her skin, taking away the sticky sweat.

She blinked her eyes in confusion. The dim light was unusually dazzling at this moment, making it impossible for her to see things clearly in front of her; everything dissolved into halos of light.

Faintly, she seemed to hear someone calling her name.

The voice was very familiar.

It wasn’t until the hand holding her body gradually tightened, a cold scent of perfume drew near, and a kiss as light as a dragonfly touching water landed on her lips that Mu Yanxi finally relaxed, allowing the other person to pry her lips open.

A bitter liquid gradually stained the tip of her tongue, and in an instant, it filled the space between her teeth.

Her chin was lifted, and no matter how she struggled, she couldn’t drive the bitter taste out. She could only be forced, bit by bit, to swallow it down as a soft tongue pressed against hers.

After the other person withdrew, Mu Yanxi, as if having learned her lesson, bit her jaw tightly despite her muddled state of mind, making a silent protest.

But this protest didn’t last long before her lips were parted again, and the remaining medicine was forcefully poured down her throat.

Not long after the medicine entered her stomach, a rustling sound was heard beside her, and a sharp pain came from the back of her hand. Mu Yanxi grunted a few times, and the arm holding her gently patted her back, while the cold sweat on her forehead was wiped away.

Her body temperature gradually returned to normal, suppressing the burning sensation within her. At the same time, her ability repaired her spirit, devouring the tense fatigue in her mind bit by bit.

Mu Yanxi listlessly fell asleep again. The source of heat beside her never seemed to disappear, right until dawn.

When Mu Yanxi woke up, the sky had just begun to brighten.

After a night’s sleep, her mind was much clearer. She expertly turned over in Yi Wulan’s arms, and Yi Wulan, who was holding her, patted her back soothingly—a clear sign that she had only just fallen asleep and was still acting on instinct.

Mu Yanxi’s drowsiness vanished in an instant. She tilted her head, studying Yi Wulan.

In her sleep, Yi Wulan’s features were much softer and more approachable than when she was awake. She wouldn’t scold her for a particular action or word. Beneath those long, almond-shaped eyes was a faint bluish tint.

Mu Yanxi felt the ability core in her abdomen for a moment, then reached out and nudged Yi Wulan’s arm. “Yi Wulan?”

Yi Wulan didn’t respond, and even her hands remained still. She was clearly fast asleep.

Mu Yanxi called out again, “Elder Sister Yi?”

It was a mystery why Yi Wulan, who had been the eldest sister in the Yi family for so many years, had such a peculiar preference. No matter how dramatic Mu Yanxi had been before, as long as she called out ‘Elder Sister Yi’, Yi Wulan would respond even if she was giving her the cold shoulder.

But at this moment, Yi Wulan was truly asleep, showing no reaction at all.

Mu Yanxi frowned slightly, leaned closer to Yi Wulan, and rubbed her face against Yi Wulan’s chin.

Yi Wulan still carried her usual perfume scent, and her cool-toned skin made her seem like an unapproachable ice mountain. But when Mu Yanxi’s face touched hers, Yi Wulan’s cheek was warm, and a warm breath circulated between them.

Feeling a little guilty, Mu Yanxi moved her head back slightly, her eyes fixed on Yi Wulan’s face. She reached out toward Yi Wulan, her fingertips hovering as they traced her features, a stream of her ability flowing slowly from her fingertips.

Her upgraded ability now had a storage function. It wouldn’t need to be used up daily as soon as it was full like before; even if Mu Yanxi wasn’t punctual every night, the ability would be stored.

Perhaps because Mu Yanxi had been so well-behaved last night, not transferring any ability to Yi Wulan while kissing, Yi Wulan had become less resistant to prolonged intimate contact. Mu Yanxi certainly couldn’t scare her off again now.

Besides, they were at the old Yi family residence. It would be hard to explain if Yi Wulan slept too late because the ability made her sleep too deeply.

While transferring her ability, Mu Yanxi’s fingertips traced Yi Wulan’s face as if she had discovered a new continent, unable to put it down.

After Mu Yanxi had gazed her fill, her eyes slowly moved downwards. When the collar of the nightgown was accidentally lifted, Mu Yanxi’s gaze froze.

She slowly frowned, then, with a sense of curiosity, gently lifted the outer layer of Yi Wulan’s robe and saw several deep red bite marks, half-hidden by the thicker strap of the garment underneath.

Mu Yanxi’s hand, which had been as steady as a rock while transferring her ability, suddenly trembled as if scalded by hot water, and she quickly pulled it back.

The lifted robe fell back into place.

She stared blankly for a long time, then with a strange expression, she mustered her courage to lift Yi Wulan’s robe again for a peek.

Great. It wasn’t just at the strap; her entire shoulder had bruises of varying severity.

It was self-evident who the culprit was.

Mu Yanxi suddenly covered her face with her hands, letting out two ‘ooh-ooh’ sounds, her blush spreading from the base of her neck to her earlobes.

She replayed the events over and over in her mind. It seemed she hadn’t bitten that hard before she fell asleep, which meant… it must have happened when she was delirious with fever.

Or perhaps, during her nightmare.

But she was confused by the fever, lost in memories of her past life. Yi Wulan had been lucid the whole time, couldn’t she have pushed her away?

A hazy memory flashed through Mu Yanxi’s mind. It seemed she had also struggled and resisted while on the IV drip last night.

The act of resistance was, naturally…

Mu Yanxi gasped. She looked at the back of her hand where the needle had been, then once again, like a thief, lifted Yi Wulan’s outer robe.

As expected, there were marks above her chest too.

Oof.

Mu Yanxi was so ashamed she felt like she was running a high fever again, and she finally let out a frustrated whimper. She curled up into a ball beside Yi Wulan, staring blankly with hollow eyes.

The rain had fallen all night, and the sky, washed clean by the rain, was exceptionally clear. Even the sun had risen early, dispersing the gloom of the previous night.

The first ray of morning sun passed through the gap in the curtains and landed on the large bed inside.

Mu Yanxi looked up and her gaze met the red marks, now illuminated by the light.

She stared at the marks for a while, feeling more and more mortified. She couldn’t imagine what Yi Wulan would think upon waking up and seeing the marks on her body.

Especially since some of the marks near her neck probably couldn’t even be hidden by a high-collared shirt.

Mu Yanxi’s face turned green.

Mu Yanxi checked the time, guessing it would be a while before the maid came to wake them. She cautiously tested the waters, “Yi Wulan? President Yi? Elder Sister Yi?”

Yi Wulan still didn’t respond.

Mu Yanxi sighed in relief, then carefully and quietly propped herself up, slid away from Yi Wulan’s side, and then, like a thief, laid Yi Wulan’s side-lying body flat on her back.

Her ability could heal internal injuries, and as it upgraded, its effectiveness on external wounds also improved, capable of making the skin perfectly smooth again, with no trace of injury.

If these marks were on her own body, she would definitely make a huge fuss when Yi Wulan woke up and embarrass her to death. Yi Wulan wouldn’t do that to her, but just in case, Mu Yanxi decided to destroy all the evidence before Yi Wulan woke up.

She stealthily reached out and untied the sash around Yi Wulan’s waist. The silky robe immediately slipped off her body. Mu Yanxi then pulled the outer robe off each side, slipping it off the sleeves and removing the entire garment.

Mu Yanxi breathed a small sigh of relief and began to heal the injuries on Yi Wulan’s arms and shoulders with her ability. After a busy fifteen minutes, the snowy white shoulders were finally restored to their original state.

But the marks on her chest were still there, taunting her. Mu Yanxi rubbed her burning ear tips and finally summoned the courage to move Yi Wulan’s shoulder strap and pull the garment down a little.

Just as Mu Yanxi was stealthily pulling the nightgown to the right position and was about to place her hand on it, the door was suddenly knocked on twice, rhythmically.

“Eldest Miss? Miss Mu? Are you two awake?”

Mu Yanxi’s hand trembled, and she nearly fell onto Yi Wulan’s body.

Thankfully, she steadied herself and didn’t wake Yi Wulan.

Mu Yanxi let out a breath, covered Yi Wulan with the blanket, got out of bed, and opened the door.

The maid at the door had clearly been sent by Old Madam Yi, and she seemed a bit surprised to see her open the door. “Miss Mu, you’re both awake so early?”

Mu Yanxi ground her teeth and replied, “Yes, but Yi Wulan is still sleeping.”

“I heard you had a fever last night, has it gone down? The Eldest Miss took care of you all night, she should get a good rest.”

Mu Yanxi nodded, already feeling guilty. Faced with this tactless maid, she just wanted to end the conversation quickly. “Please tell Grandma for us that we’ll join her for lunch.”

The maid nodded. “That’s what the Old Madam was thinking. She sent me to ask if you’d like breakfast sent up, so you two can rest well.”

Mu Yanxi: … “No need, we’ll come down ourselves when she wakes up.”

Although the maid’s expression and words were normal, she somehow heard a hint of teasing in them, like in those TV dramas where the matriarch sends someone to inform the newlyweds they don’t need to come for morning greetings.

After the maid left, Mu Yanxi slammed the door shut with a ‘thud’ and leaned against the back of it, panting.

Mu Yanxi was furious, feeling that her pure reputation had been ruined by this big-tailed wolf Yi Wulan.

After pacing around the bed in a powerless rage for a couple of turns, she moved back to the bed and continued to sneakily lift the blanket off Yi Wulan, gingerly placing her hand on the bite marks above her chest.

Her ability flowed into Yi Wulan’s body. The bruises gradually faded, shrank, and then disappeared.

With trembling hands, Mu Yanxi treated them one by one.

When she lifted her hand again and saw a mark was still there, she frowned slightly, thinking she hadn’t transferred enough ability, and covered it again.

But it still didn’t disappear.

This area was rather private, and Mu Yanxi hadn’t dared to look closely before. Now, leaning in, she realized that a few of the spots weren’t bruises, but splatters of medicinal soup, which were particularly conspicuous on Yi Wulan’s fair skin.

Mu Yanxi felt her face grow even hotter. She took a couple of deep breaths to compose herself, hesitating whether to get a wet wipe to clean Yi Wulan’s body.

But the next second, she suddenly felt a gaze fall silently on the top of her head.

Mu Yanxi’s breath hitched.

Then, the gentle aura that had finally settled around Yi Wulan seemed to be tinged with cold air again, enveloping her.

A strand of hair fell softly onto the back of Mu Yanxi’s hand as Yi Wulan woke up.

Mu Yanxi shuddered violently, as if stung by a bee. Her hand, already on Yi Wulan’s chest, trembled uncontrollably, making it seem as if she were deliberately groping and kneading Yi Wulan’s chest.

Feeling utterly mortified, Mu Yanxi slowly, slowly lifted her head.

Her gaze swept over Yi Wulan’s now-clean chest (apart from the medicine stains), shoulders, jawline, past her scab-free and rosy lips, the tip of her nose…

Then, no matter how slowly Mu Yanxi moved, she still met Yi Wulan’s now-open, almond-shaped eyes.

The sun outside rose higher, illuminating the room.

At this moment, Yi Wulan’s outer robe was gone, the straps of her nightgown were pushed to the sides, and the garment was pulled down some distance. If it went any lower, she would be exposed.

Yi Wulan lowered her eyes. Mu Yanxi looked just like a lecherous scoundrel with ill intentions, one hand on her shoulder, the other claw, not yet retracted, resting above her chest, with almost half her body pressed into her embrace.

Perhaps her sudden awakening had startled the person. The slender fingertips trembled, her finger pads resting lightly on the medicine stain, creating a strangely sensual picture.

Mu Yanxi: …

Yi Wulan: …

They stared at each other, as if time had frozen.

“Ahem…” After who knows how long, Mu Yanxi was the first to snap back to reality. With almost no hesitation, she preemptively struck:

“Yi Wulan, you climbed into my bed without even taking a shower? You’re so dirty! Look at you, here and here, how can you be so sloppy?”

“I’m in a good mood today, so I condescended to change your clothes for you. You’re welcome.”

Yi Wulan: …
