Chen Jiu was startled and abruptly opened his eyes, seeing the glowing jade pendant quickly flying to Zhao Chen’s hand.
Feeling something biting his hand, Zhao Chen instinctively slapped it, thinking it was a mosquito.
Instead of a mosquito, he felt a warm, jade-like object.
Looking at his right hand, he saw a jade pendant emitting a faint glow attached to the back of his hand, with blood flowing through the patterns on the pendant.
Zhao Chen remembered that he had accidentally cut his hand on some firewood while cooking earlier, causing a bit of bleeding. Since the wound didn’t seem severe, he had simply covered it with some common hemostatic grass from the door.
Now, the jade pendant was absorbing his blood?
All the assets left by Silly Zhao’s father were either taken by his mother, who had abandoned her husband, or seized by his second uncle, Zhao Shi Ming, and grandmother, Zhou Shi. Zhao Chen had worn the same set of clothes for years, so how could he have a jade pendant?
Since it wasn’t his, it must belong to Chen Jiu.
Thinking this, Zhao Chen turned to look at the person beside him.
Sure enough, Chen Jiu was staring blankly at his hand, the light from the pendant reflecting the panic in his eyes.
“Are you, are you alright?” Realizing Zhao Chen was looking at him, Chen Jiu snapped out of it and quickly sat up to ask.
At the same time, he reached out to retrieve the pendant.
He never expected this pendant to be so wicked, actually absorbing blood!
Could the secret of the pendant that Chen Ling mentioned involve using it to kill silently and seize others’ property, helping that general gather troops to seize the throne?
The thought of this possibility made Chen Jiu break out in a cold sweat, making him even more anxious to remove the pendant, fearing that if he was too late, Zhao Chen would be drained of blood and die.
However, when he tried to take it, the pendant seemed to be nailed to Zhao Chen’s hand, not moving at all!
What was going on!?
Did it really intend to drain all his blood?
For a moment, Chen Jiu’s face turned pale as he looked at Zhao Chen’s furrowed brows, unsure of what to do.
“What, what should we do?” His voice was hoarse and trembling.
Zhao Chen, however, remained calm. He sat up, patted Chen Jiu’s shoulder with his unoccupied hand, and comforted him, “Don’t worry, I’m fine. It’ll stop once it’s had enough.”
Maybe because the pendant was absorbing his blood, Zhao Chen felt an inexplicable sense of closeness to it.
He had a sense that once the pendant was done, something good would happen.
Since Chen Jiu didn’t share a blood connection with the pendant, he couldn’t feel this, making it hard for him to be at ease.
His eyes fixed on the pendant, Chen Jiu asked in a trembling voice, “But, what if it never gets enough?”
Wouldn’t Zhao Chen turn into a dried-up corpse then?
“Not at all.” Zhao Chen felt a sense of closeness to it but also stayed alert.
If it became dangerous, he would detach the pendant even if he had to peel off a layer of skin.
Chen Jiu was still worried, but seeing Zhao Chen’s casual demeanor, he didn’t want to seem immature, so he quietly waited, his eyes fixed on the pendant stuck to Zhao Chen’s hand.
In just a short time, the pendant had absorbed a lot of blood. The bright red blood flowed through the intricate patterns on the pendant, gradually forming a beautiful design.
Chen Jiu didn’t have time to see what the design was before he heard Zhao Chen say, “Chen Jiu, drop a bit of your blood on it.”
Chen Jiu didn’t understand why Zhao Chen was asking this, but feeling guilty, he nodded.
He bit his fingertip, squeezed out a drop of blood, and let it fall onto the pendant.
As soon as his blood touched the pendant, it emitted a blinding light.
Chen Jiu instinctively closed his eyes. In the darkness, a broad hand grabbed his, and then he felt a spinning sensation. When he opened his eyes, they were in a different world.
At the same time, a cold, emotionless voice echoed in his mind.
“Congratulations, the two of you have triggered the personal space and obtained an initial area of 1.5 mu of personal space! The space can be upgraded. For detailed procedures and requirements, please visit the Space Mall to purchase the ‘Personal Space User Manual.'”
Chen Jiu was stunned and instinctively turned to Zhao Chen.
Zhao Chen was equally surprised.
He had only felt the pendant absorbing his blood as a sign of recognizing its owner. Since the pendant belonged to Chen Jiu, he thought that even if it recognized him, Chen Jiu should benefit too, so he had asked Chen Jiu to feed it a drop of blood.
But he hadn’t expected it to be the legendary personal space!
