Either way, it would require a very deep network to be connected to these gatekeepers.

“So, how much does S-rank cost?”

“One billion.”

“…And SS-rank?”

“Three billion.”

As soon as he heard this, Kagura felt his right wrist, wrapped around the invitation card, grow noticeably heavier.

Kiriyama was providing an unusual amount of information, but it was probably just for the pleasure of seeing Kagura’s reactions. Kagura could practically sense him licking his lips beneath his mask.

…Two SS-rank cards would be six billion yen.

Equivalent to the cost for a private civilian to visit the International Space Station.

It was hard to believe that Kiriyama or even Zero had paid for them out of pocket. Most likely, they had obtained them through some form of gift from a gatekeeper.

As Kiriyama fiddled with the device on his right wrist, he spoke.

“This has virtual currency loaded onto it, which can only be used within this place. The currency itself is designed to be bought exclusively with another high-anonymity cryptocurrency.”

In this castle of anonymity, all illegal activities were allowed.

“As a police officer, I’m really starting to feel uneasy here,” Kagura muttered with a grimace.

Kiriyama placed the napkin from his lap on the table and stood up.

“I know your purpose here. Keep any of your professional tendencies or sense of justice in check.”

Kiriyama was aware that Kagura’s objective was to dismantle the Eastern Alliance. Inviting him to the ‘Invincible Castle’ meant that Kiriyama likely intended to use Kagura once again for something related to the Alliance.

…I won’t be manipulated this time. I’ll be the one doing the using.

Vowing this to himself, Kagura also rose and followed Kiriyama out of the private room.

They took a purple elevator and got off on the second basement level.

This was a different corridor from the one he had used before with the green B-rank elevator. Apparently, VIP areas were set on separate floors from the start.

“Are you exclusively using the Kilik room today?” Kagura asked Kiriyama, who was opening a door marked with a Siddham character that glowed faintly.

“As long as I hold this SS-rank invitation card, all Kilik rooms in this building are reserved for my use only.”

In other words, on days Kiriyama didn’t visit, the rooms would remain unused.

It was extravagant, but considering the three-billion-yen treatment, maybe it made sense—Kagura almost convinced himself of this, then sneered inwardly.

…This place is enough to make you lose your sense of reality.

Following Kiriyama through the door, Kagura found himself in a private viewing room. A deep crimson leather sofa, large enough to seat about ten, faced a fixed window.

The last time he’d visited, he hadn’t noticed this window while looking over the underground fighting arena, likely because it was a one-way mirror.

On the low table in front of the sofa lay a pair of opera glasses, a remote control, and a lacquered box.

Kagura approached the window and looked down at the arena.

From here, he could view the entire venue and, with the opera glasses, observe each spectator individually.

Two weeks ago, Kiriyama had watched him and Zero from this vantage point.

The sound of stomping feet and roaring cheers echoed. A fighter who’d been thrown into the octagonal wire fence was electrocuted and collapsed onto the ring. As his opponent moved to pin him down, he too was kicked upward into the fence from below.

A crackling sound of electricity buzzed nearby. Startled, Kagura turned to see Kiriyama holding the remote control. The fight was displayed on a large TV screen embedded in the wall, likely captured by a drone.

Though Kagura winced at the fighter’s anguished cries, he was transfixed by the brutality of the match. A sense of pressure at his back jolted him back to reality.

Kiriyama had somehow moved behind him. His hands were pressed against the window on either side of Kagura.

“Back off.”

“Today, you’re my pet.”

Whispering, Kiriyama slid his tongue into Kagura’s right ear. The thin tongue reached deep, and Kagura shuddered.

He wanted to push him away, but he hadn’t yet made use of the three-billion-yen invitation card strapped to his right wrist. Gritting his teeth, he tried to focus on the fight instead. When his right ear was left damp, Kiriyama then assaulted his left ear, pressing his body even closer.

“…!”

Something hard was pressed against his backside.

“That’s enough.”

When Kagura twisted his waist to escape, he was pinned in a headlock. Through his clothes, Kiriyama’s hand rubbed against him deliberately. A sweet, enclosed scent wafted heavily from Kiriyama.

Revulsion spread like an electric current through Kagura’s body.

Finally unable to bear it, Kagura attempted to kick Kiriyama’s shin, but his body was pressed firmly against the glass, immobilising him. Kiriyama’s tongue slithered into the depths of his ear, sending shivers through Kagura. His mask, crushed against the glass, made breathing difficult.

Just as Kagura was mustering the strength to push Kiriyama away with full force, the mechanical sound of a monotonous melody echoed through the room.

Kiriyama casually withdrew his tongue from Kagura’s ear and released him. He turned, checked the intercom screen on the wall, and unlocked the door.

Kagura, wiping his ears with his palms, leaned against the glass and blinked at the person who entered.

The figure wore a female Noh mask with an elusive, ambiguous expression. They were dressed in a sleek black, high-neck sleeveless top with tight black pants, and a large chain necklace hung around their neck. Their hair, cut in a two-block style, was tied back.

…Renjou.

Kiriyama had once been connected to Toono Ryouji, but that relationship had severed after Kiriyama set up the Eastern Alliance in a trap several months ago—or so Kagura had believed.

If that was true, then why was Renjou, Toono’s primary fanatic, here?

As Kagura tried to make sense of it, the mask turned directly toward him, and he pressed his palm against the stinging pain in his neck.

“Who should Renjou take care of?”

Renjou asked, looking at Kiriyama, who turned off the large television screen, sat down on the sofa, and looked at Kagura.

“Would you like him to take care of you as well?”

Not entirely understanding the question, Kagura responded, “I’ll pass.”

“Just me, then,” Kiriyama replied.

Without a word, Renjou sat on his knees before Kiriyama and, without any hesitation, unfastened Kiriyama’s belt and pulled down his zipper, which Kagura observed.

“Sit down and watch,” Kiriyama instructed, prompting Kagura to sit on the sofa in stunned silence. The match in the ring was already over.
