“A fine display of authority-yakuza behaviour, wasn’t it?”
As they exited the conference room, Sanae gave an exaggerated shiver.
They had just wrapped up what was essentially an interrogation with the Tokyo District Prosecutor’s Office’s Special Investigation Department.
A large-scale subsidy fraud case had been linked to a foreign crime organisation, and the Organized Crime Division was called upon to provide information.
The officers in Organized Crime were often compared to yakuza themselves, but their work on the ground gave them a certain raw, human quality. In contrast, the prosecutors from the Special Investigation Department possessed a chilling coldness, capable of crushing even the most powerful figures in politics and finance without flinching.
“Prosecutor Kiriyama could pass as a young yakuza boss,” Sanae added, looking to Kagura for agreement. But his pupils dilated in shock, and he let out a small “Eek.”
Kagura turned to look behind him.
There stood the one who looked like a young boss of the yakuza. With his deeply chiselled features and commanding physique, he could almost pass as an actor, yet his expressionless face made him unsettling. One might wonder if he’d gone nearly forty years without ever smiling.
“Detective Kagura Jinya.”
The stony-faced man spoke.
“I need a word.”
With a glance, he motioned back toward the conference room, and then turned to lead the way.
“What… what do we do? He must’ve heard us, right?” Sanae whispered in a daze, while Kagura turned back into the room.
The fact that he knew Kagura’s name and called him out directly was a bad sign.
“Close the door.”
“Is this something you don’t want overheard?”
“For you, yes.”
As expected, this was bound to be trouble.
“So, what is this about?” Kagura asked, keeping a slight distance. Kiriyama leaned against one of the long tables, beckoning him over with a subtle motion of his index finger.
With an openly displeased expression, Kagura stepped into the spot Kiriyama had indicated.
Kiriyama was taller than Kagura, but with him seated slightly on the table, their eye levels were closer. The unblinking upward stare from Kiriyama sent a chill down Kagura’s spine.
Those black eyes.
There was only one other person he knew with such deeply black eyes.
But whereas Zero’s eyes resembled the infinite depths of night, Kiriyama’s were like a murky, oppressive swamp―――harbouring something unknown and sinister.
―――This guy is dangerous.
When Kagura instinctively stepped back, a long arm shot out in front of him. With the speed of a chameleon snapping its tongue around prey, Kagura was yanked forward by the collar of his suit.
He managed to catch himself by bracing his hand on the long table.
Those unsettling black eyes were right in front of him.
“Don’t get involved with the Eastern Alliance any further.”
Kagura narrowed his eyes sharply, his face taking on its usual hardened expression.
“So, there are people in the Prosecutor’s Office who get favours from the Eastern Alliance, whether it’s for drug habits or something worse? Or is Prosecutor Kiriyama a frequent customer himself?”
Without a single change in his expression, Kiriyama’s gaze grew darker and more slippery. His eyes slid down Kagura’s neck, and the hand gripping his suit collar moved to the collar of his dress shirt, pulling it aside to inspect the right side of his neck.
“Seems you’re into some pretty intense stuff.”
What he could hide from Sanae, he couldn’t from Kiriyama.
When Kagura didn’t respond, Kiriyama tugged harder on his collar, pressing against his throat.
“Ugh―――”
Kagura winced, and Kiriyama’s eyes roamed all over his face, giving him an eerie feeling. It was like a chameleon tasting its prey.
“I see. I can’t say I don’t get where the other guy’s coming from.”
“…Let go.”
Kagura muttered a warning, preparing to throw a punch.
“Are you connected to Enwu?”
Kiriyama whispered, peering into his face with probing eyes.
The shock felt like someone had grabbed his heart, but Kagura quickly suppressed his emotions, meeting Kiriyama’s gaze head-on.
“Far from connected―――we haven’t even been able to figure out what Enwu is. If you have any information on them, I’d love for you to share it.”
Kiriyama scrutinised Kagura’s face in silence for a moment, then released his grip on his shirt collar.
Kagura resisted the urge to cough as the pressure around his throat eased.
He couldn’t afford to show any weakness in front of this man.
As Kiriyama rose from the table and moved toward the door, he muttered in a low voice as they passed.
“Just stay out of the way.”
“…”
Once he was alone in the conference room, Kagura took a deep breath.
The sensation of his throat being gripped still lingered around his neck.
That evening, at the apartment in Nakameguro, Kagura called Zero over and recounted what had happened. Zero tilted his thick neck slightly, as if sifting through his memories.
“Tokyo Prosecutor’s Office, Special Investigation Department… Kiriyama Shungo?”
Fresh from a bath, Zero’s exposed upper body and hair were damp. Dressed in sweatpants, he sat cross-legged on the sofa, his large body sinking into the cushions.
“Have you had any dealings with him?”
Zero took a long gulp from a can of beer and replied to Kagura, who sat across from him on the coffee table.
“As far as I know, he’s never had any dealings with us.”
“I see…”
“So, he suspects you’re connected to Enwu?”
“Whether he’s suspicious or just fishing for information, I’m not sure.”
“At least he’s not tailing you. I can guarantee that much.”
Kagura grimaced at Zero’s words.
“The ones tailing me are your friends.”
“Oh yeah, I heard you got help from Kataware, Riki, and Haiiro.”
“I could’ve handled it on my own.”
Zero gave an exasperated chuckle.
“Show a bit of gratitude,” Zero said, leaning forward and reaching out. He loosened Kagura’s tie and lifted the collar of his shirt.
Zero brought his mouth close to the marks on Kagura’s neck that looked like bruises, but Kagura grabbed his head with both hands.
“Stop it.”
“Don’t be shy.”
“It’s not that. Kiriyama…”
As soon as he said the name, Kagura realised his mistake.
“What about Kiriyama?” Zero’s gaze darkened as he questioned him.
“…No, it’s just that he commented on the marks.”
“And what did he say?”
Knowing it would be worse to ignore the question, Kagura repeated Kiriyama’s words verbatim.
“He said, ‘Seems you’re into some pretty intense stuff’.”
Even after answering, the situation grew complicated.
A frown, like that of an angry wolf, appeared on Zero’s face.
“Under what circumstances would a prosecutor from the Special Investigation Department say that to a detective from Organized Crime?”
“There was no lead-up to it. He just suddenly closed the distance.”
Recalling the moment, Kagura couldn’t help but rub his own face with his palm.
“What did Kiriyama do to you?”
“He didn’t do anything. He just hooked his fingers on my collar, looked at my neck and face. That’s all… well…”
“Well, what?”
“…It was like a chameleon’s tongue.”
Zero’s expression turned puzzled.
“When he looks at you, it feels like he’s wrapping you up with a chameleon’s tongue.”
“He licked you, did he?” Zero growled.
“I mean, he didn’t actually lick me, he just… looked…-”
Kagura stopped mid-sentence as he felt something slide up from his chin to his left ear, then from his right cheek to his temple.
“Hey, stop that!”
As he tried to push Zero away, his head was firmly held in place. Zero drew his face close enough for their foreheads to touch, and he spoke in a rough, gritty voice.
“I’ll lick every spot Kiriyama looked at.”
Before Kagura could protest, Zero’s tongue began to trace across his face.
His chin, cheeks, nose, forehead, eyebrows, temples, ears, and lips were all licked.
―――His tongue was hot…
Though the tickling sensation and the abnormality of the act made Kagura’s skin prickle, he could feel the unpleasant sensation lingering on his face melt away. The memory of Kiriyama was scrubbed from his mind, leaving him focused solely on the feeling of Zero’s tongue.
“Hah… ah…”
Before he knew it, Kagura had extended his own tongue.
Their exposed tongues twisted together, licking each other in return.
His lower abdomen throbbed intensely. Kagura unzipped the front of his slacks, taking out his hardened dick and stroking it urgently.
Zero’s tongue continued to roam over Kagura’s face and neck as his tongue stayed out.
“Ah…hah…nng…”
The tip of Zero’s tongue repeatedly licked and flicked, bringing Kagura to climax.
As he released, Kagura’s dampened face twisted into an expression of indulgent pleasure.

*Translator’s Note: Well, someone’s being possessive… I didn’t censor this part. I hope it won’t get me into trouble since I think this is just mild. And yeah that’s our second ML, I think so. There’s no love triangle or some sort here and up until now, after finishing with volume 3, I’m still perplexed as to what drove Kiriyama to be interested in Kagura. Lust, maybe? His sexual perversion? To provoke Zero? I have no idea. But he’s not a red flag, I promise you. He’s a BLACK flag!!! Like absolutely black that you really want him to be away from Kagura, but at the same time, it’s kinda hot when a guy like him is pursuing Kagura, if you know what I mean. Well, in real life, I will jump off a cliff rather than get involved with a guy like Kiriyama though. In books, I’m just here for the ride… -K
