Shen Lin teased, “Let me see what’s inside!” and leaned over to peek into his small backpack.
Su Youli immediately protected it. “Second Brother isn’t allowed to look.”
Shen Lin immediately pretended to be deeply hurt, rubbing his eyes as if about to cry. “Youyou doesn’t love Second Brother anymore.”
Seeing his second brother upset, the little one grew anxious and patted Shen Lin’s head with his little hand. “Second Brother, don’t cry.”
Shen Lin wailed, “Then let me see what treasure you’ve got in your backpack?”
The little one blinked, his small hands gripping the edge of the backpack tightly. This was the gift he had brought for Kunkun and his little Daddy.
“They’re gifts for my daddies,” the little one said.
Shen Minyan, sitting in front of the little one, had had enough. He turned back and gave Shen Lin a sharp rap on the head.
“Ow.” Shen Lin clutched his head and yelped loudly.
Shen Yan and Tang Dou laughed. The car slowly drove out of the villa complex, the atmosphere warm and cozy. Halfway through the drive, Su Youli couldn’t help but lean his head against Shen Lin, feeling drowsy.
“What’s in Youyou’s backpack?” Shen Yan was also curious. He tilted his head and asked Tang Dou quietly.
Tang Dou smiled, thinking of the gift the little one had prepared. His eyes curved. “Nothing much. Just the blueberry tarts he secretly hid this morning.”
The Shen family’s chef cooked deliciously, and desserts were made by a dedicated pastry chef. The little one had eaten two blueberry tarts and thought they were delicious. There were eight in total. He had eaten two, leaving six. Shen Lin had eaten two. Shen Yan had worked through the night filming and hadn’t had any. Shen Minyan didn’t eat sweets. So the little one had quietly put the remaining four tarts into his pocket.
When Tang Dou arrived for work, he saw the little one successfully hiding the tarts, patting his pocket contentedly. He looked utterly pleased with himself, unaware that the aroma of the tarts had already given him away. In the end, the butler, afraid the tarts would spoil in the little young master’s pocket, specially found a gift box and personally helped pack the tarts into the little one’s backpack.
Su Youli was overjoyed that he had prepared gifts for his daddies. His voice was soft and sweet as he said, “Thank you, Grandpa Butler.”
So it was tarts. Shen Yan found it rather amusing. But it wasn’t just tarts. There were many little things in the little one’s backpack: pretty leaves he had picked up in the garden, his favorite small toys; he wanted to give them all to his daddies. The group arrived at the airport just in time. The plane was scheduled to land in a few minutes.
Sunlight streamed through the tall floor-to-ceiling windows, spilling across the bustling airport terminal. Travelers hurried past. Su Youli, held in his eldest brother’s arms, who was wearing a hat and mask, kept his eyes wide open. Shen Lin held up a sign with a welcome message for Qin Kun and Su Siwen. The family was tall and long-limbed, with an extraordinary aura that made passersby stop and stare.
The man standing in the middle was older, his black hair combed back, revealing sharp features. Standing there, he exuded an air of authority without even trying. The teenager holding the sign was clearly his son. He stood tall and straight, wearing limited-edition sneakers from a certain brand, his high-bridged nose giving him a very cool look. But the one who drew the most attention was the little one being held.
The man holding him was very tall, lifting the small child up high. He looked about two or three years old, with rosy lips and white teeth, like one of those New Year’s paintings of a chubby baby that people hang on their walls because they’re so delightful to look at. The baby fat on his side profile was soft and plump, like a pudding that would bounce a few times if turned out of its mold.
What surprised the onlookers was that such a young child wasn’t crying or fussing at all. He behaved perfectly, held quietly in his parent’s arms, only staring intently with his big, cat-like eyes at the passenger exit ahead. Su Youli couldn’t hear what people were saying about him now. His little heart was entirely focused on his two daddies.
“That child is so cute! Look at those long eyelashes!”
“The genes are amazing!”
The comments from passersby reached them. Shen Minyan’s ears twitched, and the corners of his mouth lifted almost imperceptibly.
“Give Youyou to me.”
Su Youli didn’t even turn his eyes to look at his father. His head didn’t move. But his body tilted, and he was taken by a pair of large hands. Over this period of time, Su Youli had finally stopped being as afraid of Shen Minyan as he was at first, so he didn’t resist being picked up.
The soft little one was snatched away. Behind his sunglasses, Shen Yan’s expression was very unpleasant. If there weren’t so many people around and the risk of being recognized by fans, he would have snatched Youyou back. The little one’s gaze was intense, completely ignoring the surrounding noise, focused solely on waiting for his daddies.
“Daddy—”
Soon, as the little one’s loud and joyful little voice rang out, everyone’s eyes followed. The little one, held by his father, saw Qin Kun and Su Siwen in the crowd and immediately started flailing his limbs to get down from Shen Minyan’s arms. Shen Minyan took a soft little elbow to the nose and had no choice but to put him down.
As soon as his feet touched the ground, the little one dashed forward, running and shouting, “Daddy!”
As Qin Kun and Su Siwen approached, they saw their son, whom they had missed day and night, running toward them with his little wobbling gait. Su Siwen forgot everything else. He shoved his bag into Qin Kun’s hands and ran toward the little one, too.
The airport was crowded, but fortunately, with Su Youli’s short arms and legs, even running at full speed, he remained within the protective range of Shen Minyan and the others. Su Siwen crouched down and opened his arms. A little ball of flesh rushed into his embrace. The little one had run hard. His face was flushed, and his hair was slightly damp with sweat.
“Daddy, I missed you so much!” The little one nuzzled his nose happily against Su Siwen’s chest, eager to tell his father just how much he had missed him the moment they met.
Su Siwen touched the little one’s soft hair, his heart melting like water. “Daddy missed you so, so much too. Let me see if you’ve grown taller lately!”
The little one puffed out his chest, standing in front of his father with round, bright eyes. He even secretly stood on his tiptoes to make himself look a bit taller. Su Siwen pretended not to notice. He pinched the little one’s exposed, chubby arm, indulging his wish. “You have grown a little bit!”
Su Siwen’s tone was very exaggerated, making Su Youli absolutely delighted. The little one reached out to hold his arm. When Su Siwen tried to pick him up, the little one looked worriedly at his father’s knees.
“Daddy, Youyou can walk by himself.”
Su Siwen took out portable toddler wipes from his pocket, holding him with one hand while using the other to wipe the little one’s sweat.
“It’s okay. Daddy’s legs haven’t been hurting lately.”
Su Youli was a very easy child to care for, but he was still very young. In the past, Su Siwen and Qin Kun would never let him out of their sight. Even raising an easy child like Su Youli required a lot of energy. For the past half month, with Su Youli in Beicheng, Su Siwen and Qin Kun had had plenty of time to rest.
They had visited the old traditional Chinese medicine clinic in town. After ten days of treatment and recuperation, Su Siwen’s health had finally improved somewhat compared to before.
Such a heartwarming reunionヾ(≧▽≦*)o
