Yan Qing, a veterinarian at Aijunbao Pet Hospital, never expected his peaceful day to be disrupted. One of the cats, already reserved for adoption, suddenly ran out of the clinic. Moments later, it was brought back by a man with a face that practically screamed “heartbreaker.”

Ding Qi, who had been riding his motorcycle, narrowly avoided hitting the cat when it darted into the road. In doing so, he suffered a minor injury. Despite not being fond of animals, he decided to take the cat to the pet hospital.

After Yan Qing examined the cat, he casually treated the scratch on Ding Qi’s hand as well.

Ding Qi said, “Dr. Yan, let me treat you to a meal,” gesturing with his hand. “As a token of gratitude.”

When Yan Qing met his gaze, he inexplicably nodded.

The next day after a shared night together, Ding Qi sent a “Good morning” message—and then vanished.

Later, the receptionist at the pet hospital, Xiao Gao, noticed that Dr. Yan seemed to have started dating someone. But that person… didn’t look like someone you’d call “decent.”

Especially after overhearing snippets of their conversation—

“I’m about to head back to prison.”
“Alright.”
“When I get out, I’ll come find you. Wait for me.”

Xiao Gao: Dr. Yan! Are you sure you’re not tangled up with some dangerous person?!

Yan Qing: …He’s just an idiot.
