VGSB Chapter 51

I'll give you the antidote

Lu Jinbei felt that his emotions might be out of control.

Not only did he inexplicably wanted to follow Ling Huan during the day, but at night he also couldn’t control himself from turning into a beast form and crawling into Ling Huan’s bed.

He didn’t even know why he still stubbornly remembered the incident of a peacock displaying its tail feathers to Ling Huan during the day.

He still wanted to hear a compliment from Ling Huan.

A voice inside him was tempting him, wanting not just today’s praise and affection, but every day after that, forever.

This was extremely abnormal.

Ling Huan’s influence on him was somewhat unexpectedly large.

He had previously experienced physical problems due to severe mental strain or intense negative emotions, but this was completely different from now. He was now more like someone poisoned by Ling Huan, with no antidote in sight.

Feeling a gentle kiss on his sensitive tail, Lu Jinbei held his breath. He had only regained his composure and calm for three seconds before being overwhelmed by surging emotions.

The tip of his tail unconsciously bent into a small question mark because of an inexplicable good mood.

He rubbed his back against the soft mattress, stretched out his paw towards Ling Huan, stretched it out and slowly moved it away. In his line of sight, he saw the youth with a slight smile on his lips. The bright yellow light from the bedside lamp reflected in Ling Huan’s pupils like shattered starlight.

A warm palm covered his chest, enveloping the wound. Lu Jinbei slowly withdrew his hand and placed it on the back of Ling Huan’s hand.

“Does the wound still hurt?” Ling Huan gently pressed his long, slender fingertips on the area near the wound.

He felt that Beibei’s injury was healing quite well. He had just looked at the wound against the light and there was only a red mark left. It should be fully healed in a few days. However, today Beibei was unusually clingy to him, ignoring the newly bought luxury cat bed and instead getting onto his bed. Now, when his belly was touched, Beibei was holding his hand tightly with both paws and wouldn’t let go.

He couldn’t figure out the reason, and could only guess that Beibei was being so clingy because his wound was hurting.

Ling Huan originally only intended to touch him briefly and then withdraw, but after exchanging a glance with Beibei, he was suddenly moved by the sight of Beibei’s naturally round golden eyes in the darkness.

His round eyes, as beautiful as jewels, were fixed on him, reflecting only his image.

“Don’t you like the new cat bed?” Ling Huan raised his hand to point to something placed by the door, but his hand was held down tightly and he couldn’t lift it.

Lu Jinbei found Ling Huan’s restless movements annoying, so he rested his chin on the back of Ling Huan’s hand. The place touched by Ling Huan’s warm palm was slightly hot. The gentle spiritual energy probed into his body, which was like a bottomless pit, along the wound and was forced to absorb it all impatiently.

He had originally thought that his injuries were almost healed.

But now, after Ling Huan asked him about it with concern, the pain started again.

He was usually very tolerant of pain, but perhaps the bed Ling Huan’s family bought was too soft, causing him to sink deeply into it, and he began to find even the slightest pain unbearable.

Why was he buying him a cat bed today?

Why doesn’t he want to sleep with him anymore?

Lu Jinbei couldn’t help but curl up and bury his face in Ling Huan’s hand.

Why did he felt a sense of unfamiliarity and aversion in his eyes when he looked at him during the day?

He was almost at his breaking point from the pain.

“Then let’s sleep in the bed tonight, but don’t do it again, Beibei.”

Feeling his hands being gripped tighter and tighter, unable to pull away, Ling Huan sighed helplessly. He hugged the fluffy little thing to his chest, following Beibei’s movements, pressed down on the headboard with his other hand, and turned off the light to go to sleep.

Such a charming little male cat!

Just let him sleep with him for now.

See if he could properly train Beibei tomorrow and get him to change his mind and come back to the cat bed.

He still need to learn to sleep alone as a cat.

How can he always sleep with his dad?

……

When Ling Huan woke up early, he found that Beibei was holding his hand tightly even when he was asleep.

He gently pushed it and pulled his hand out. Beibei immediately retracted its paw, curled up, and tucked its tail close to its head to sleep in a ball.

This was how Beibei slept at night on the first day he brought him home.

Ling Huan frowned slightly. This sleeping posture showed a lack of security and a strong resistance to the outside world. Even though it had been by his side for several days, there was no improvement. It seemed that Beibei must have suffered a lot outside before he picked him up.

Silently adding a somber touch to Beibei’s Wanderings in his heart, Ling Huan got up very quietly, a crisp electronic voice ringing in his mind.

【Helper props: The Memory Pill has been dropped and is now in the left pocket of the host’s pajamas. Based on the items that have already taken effect on Lu Jinbei, it is estimated that Lu Jinbei will return home around 7 PM tonight and then fall into a deep sleep. 】

【The memory pill is a free helper props. It takes effect slowly and needs to be soaked in water ten hours in advance. Before you leave, soak the pill. Before you part ways with Lu Jinbei tonight, watch him drink the water. The memory replacement will be successful when Lu Jinbei wakes up tomorrow. 】

Ling Huan raised an eyebrow slightly, walked to the door, and tapped twice on the wall displaying a white fluorescent screen. A moment later, a rhythmic but stiff knocking sound rang out.

He opened the door, and a robot, its mechanical arm holding a small glass aloft, slid in and turned to face him. The water in the glass was gently swirling. The robot tilted slightly upwards and, with a “snap,” switched to an emoticon on Ling Huan’s black screen: ^_^

Just as Ling Huan took the glass, a swift golden figure flashed past in front of him.

Beibei climbed up the robot’s angular body, then unceremoniously stepped on the smiling display screen with one paw. When it lifted up, a plum blossom footprint appeared on the clean screen.

The robot spun around in a panic twice, struggling to rotate its mechanical arm without being able to touch its display screen.

“Beibei, you can’t step on this. You’ll break it if you step on it too hard. The robot at home isn’t a very high-end model.” Ling Huan pinched Beibei’s proudly erect pointed ears as punishment, grabbed Beibei by the scruff of its neck and threw it back onto the bed. Then he found a clean cloth to wipe the robot’s screen clean, opened the door, and let it leave.

Ling Huan sat down at the table and took the memory pill out of his pocket.

It was a white, round piece about the size of a fingernail, and it looked quite ordinary.

He checked the time on his personal terminal. He had arranged to meet Lu Jinbei at 10 a.m. today after dropping him off at home yesterday. Now that he was starting to prepare the pills, the timing should be perfect.

A rustling sound came from the side, and Beibei, who had easily jumped onto the table, squatted down next to him and followed him to look at the things on the table.

Ling Huan reached out and touched Beibei. As he turned to grab the cup, he caught a glimpse of a light golden figure moving out of the corner of his eye.

Beibei curiously leaned his head close to the pill and smelled it.

“This isn’t a snack! It’s not for you to eat.” Before Beibei could open his mouth and lick the medicine away, Ling Huan pressed down on her fluffy head, took the pills away, unscrewed the lid of the glass, and threw it in.

The white tablet fell into the water, tumbling and rising to the surface with a series of tiny bubbles.

【This glass of water will become colorless after one hour and tasteless after nine to ten hours. 】

Ling Huan seemed to be deep in thought. He noticed that Beibei was staring intently at the dissolving pills in the cup. He closed the lid, stroked Beibei’s fur, and thought that if Lu Jinbei drank this spiked water today, he could successfully clear away the terrible memories between them these past two days and start a tender love affair with the protagonist, Luo Sheng. He couldn’t help but feel happy.

Feeling Beibei’s head keep jutting forward, pressed tightly against the transparent glass, as if he really wanted to drink, Ling Huan smiled and lifted him off the table, casually placing the glass out of Beibei’s reach.

“Beibei can’t drink this water. If you does, you might forget me.”

He wondered how effective the items provided by the system would be if they were placed on the cat.

However, Beibei’s movements were always incredibly fast, and he couldn’t keep up at all, and there were some things he couldn’t stop. Sometimes he even felt that Beibei deliberately slowed down when he caught him, willingly letting him catch him.

Beibei was very interested in this glass of water; if he accidentally knocks it over, all his efforts will be wasted.

Ling Huan glanced at the time and realized there was still time. Thinking he could go downstairs and use the kitchen, he adjusted Beibei to a more comfortable position, held her, and pushed open the door to leave. “There are two dried fish left in the fridge. How about I fry them for you before I go out?”

The cat nestled in Ling Huan’s arms looked up at him, its long, thin tail wrapping tightly around his arm.

……

Ling Huan drove the aircraft to Lu Jinbei’s house to pick him up. In a good mood, he took Lu Jinbei to the nursery. On the way, he received a call from Instructor Qin.

Because Lu Jinbei was sitting right next to him, Ling Huan turned off the camera and watched Instructor Qin’s face appear on the screen.

“Xiao Ling, the class can start when there are three cubs. Since the parents are paying the same amount of money, I’m letting you know in advance that the end time here will also be postponed by half a month, otherwise the parents will definitely have objections.”

Ling Huan said tactfully, “Let me rethink again about the date of start class. I want to wait until we have four cubs before starting the class, so it should be another week.”

“The two parents who came to check on the nursery yesterday had both had some issues before, which is why their children were kept. Now other nurseries have stabilized, and I’ve had your information posted on the official website for several days. It’s really difficult to find a fourth child…”

While Ling Huan was talking to Instructor Qin, the thing he had been holding in his arms suddenly went empty and was taken away.

He turned his head and found that Lu Jinbei had taken the cup away.

“What are you doing?” Instructor Qin’s enthusiastic suggestions kept coming from the screen. Ling Huan lowered his voice, frowned, and reached for the cup in Lu Jinbei’s arms.

This should have been given to him at night.

The man looked down at the familiar glass in his hand, his clenched fingers tightening, his dark eyes narrowing slightly. “It’s inconvenient for you to make a call, so I’ll hold it for you.”

This was the cup that Ling Huan added something to this morning.
