SBWE Chapter 01

Title: Seeking Answers from Medical Researchers: Why Was My Spiritual Body Eaten by Another Spiritual Body? Also, Help! How Do I Make the Spiritual Body That Ate My Spiritual Body Spit It Back Out?

Original Poster: I swear, I will absolutely never! Ever! Ever treat that annoying jerk again!

1L: OP, have you been practicing tongue twisters lately? This title is so convoluted…

2L: Upstairs, your IQ must be low. Let me translate for everyone: the OP’s problem is that their Spiritual Body was eaten… Wait, Spiritual Body?! EATEN?! Is it the kind of ‘eating’ I’m imagining?

3L: *Grinning lewdly* (OP’s definitely just exploding with rage after being topped).

4L: PDA alert! Get out!

5L: Seconded! Us lonely old people[mfn]孤寡老人 (gū guǎ lǎo rén): lit. an elderly per son of no family. ‘Lonely elderly’ is a popular internet slang term that originated in 2020. It specifically refers to people who, during the Qixi Festival (Chinese Valentine’s Day), imitate the “lonely” croaking sound of frogs to tease others about their single status, but are actually single themselves.[/mfn] can’t afford to eat this dog food[mfn]狗糧 (gǒu liáng): lit. dog food; (slang, neologism) display of affection seen from the perspective of a third, lonely person.[/mfn].

6L: Hey, wait a minute! Don’t just read half the title! The OP also asked how to make the other Spiritual Body spit theirs out!

7L: ……

8L: …………

9L: Holy shit, could it actually be the ‘eating food’ kind of eating?!

10L: How is that even possible? As everyone knows, neither Sentinels nor Guides’ Spiritual Bodies ever eat. So how could an incident of one Spiritual Body devouring another Spiritual Body possibly happen?

11L: I agree with the comment above. OP, if you’re going to make up a sensational title to get attention, at least make it plausible. If your Spiritual Body were truly eaten, you’d essentially be a Guide without a Spiritual Body right now. When a Spiritual Body dies, the host dies too, okay?!

12L: Maybe it’s still being digested? The Spiritual Body might still be there ( ̄▽ ̄)~*

13L: Digested… Pfft, hahahahaha! Upstairs has some imagination.

14L: Why are you all assuming OP is a Guide?

15L: Taps on the blackboard: Read the Original Post! Read the Original Post!

16L: Sentinels specialize in attack, while Guides specialize in healing. Based on the OP’s wording, we can deduce that OP is a Guide—a Guide who was treating a Sentinel named ‘Annoying Jerk’—a Guide whose Spiritual Body was devoured by the Sentinel’s Spiritual Body during treatment.

17L: Excellent analysis, upstairs!

18L: Why do I find this so inexplicably hilarious…? Let me go laugh for a few seconds first.

19L: Comedy +1

20L: OP, what did your Spiritual Body taste like? It must have been irresistible~~~~

21L: Pfft, ha ha ha!

22L: Pfft, ha ha ha ha!

23L: Pfft, ha ha ha ha ha!

24L OP: You guys are amazing! You’re almost spot-on with your guesses. I am a Guide. 20L, are you asking what my Spiritual Body is? My Spiritual Body is a bird. That annoying jerk—let’s call him Mr. Spade for now. Mr. Spade is a Sentinel, and his Spiritual Body is the natural enemy of birds.

Mr. Spade’s mental barrier is incredibly thick. Currently, only his mother and I can help him comb away the lingering mental residue, those black spots. Not long ago, Mr. Spade engaged in a fierce battle that left his mind in psychic disarray. Mr. Spade’s mother is currently traveling and unable to assist him in clearing the black spots, which is why I’m providing the treatment.

Initially, everything went smoothly. I entered Mr. Spade’s mental barrier without any issues. But as soon as I began combing away the residue, Mr. Spade’s Spiritual Body devoured my bird in one gulp, and then I was immediately ejected from Mr. Spade’s mental consciousness.

25L: OP, did you feel any discomfort afterward?

26L OP: No, my physical body is fine right now, but I can no longer sense the presence of my Spiritual Body.

New novel~ It’s a short one, but it’s quite interesting how the author use forum format for almost the whole story. I hope you enjoyed it.

There’s a lot internet slang—understandable, since this novel format is forum style, which obviously use informal language. I simply translate them to make it easier to understand, but please bear with me if there’s a lot of footnotes. Here’s commonly used term in Chinese forum:

  • 樓主 (lóu zhǔ)/LZ: Original Poster (OP)—thread starter
  • 樓上 (lóu shàng)/LS: Upstairs—poster above (There’s also 樓下 (lóu xià)/LX, Downstairs—poster below)
