WCHM Chapter 20

[First World – Campus Romance Plot] Chapter 20

However, as the story’s “Protagonist Shou”, Gu Yanyan was clearly the kind of stubborn mule who just wouldn’t listen. He still had his thin, slightly frail arms wrapped tightly around Lu Chi, gritting his teeth as he met Liang Jiashu’s black eyes. Though intimidated, he still forced out the words: “We’re all just suitors, what’s the point of arguing about who’s first or last?! Even if you two are together, so what? The one who isn’t loved is the real third wheel! I have faith and I’ll keep waiting until Teacher Lu chooses me!”

His reckless declaration of love echoed through the quiet alley.

Before Liang Jiashu could react, the ever-so-troublesome system let out an excited shriek in the data stream: [That’s right, Protagonist Shou! Attack! Attack! Freshman versus senior, charge!!]

But pinned in Gu Yanyan’s arms, Lu Chi was surprised to find that, even if he struggled, he couldn’t easily break free from the boy’s hold. The system cackled again: [Did you forget, Baby? The novel mentioned more than once that “Gu Yanyan was harder to seize than a New Year’s pig.” He’s done farm work, so when it counts, he’s got real strength!]

For some reason, that line struck Lu Chi’s funny bone. His eyes curved as he suddenly burst into laughter, leaning against Gu Yanyan’s trembling shoulder and laughing so hard he couldn’t stop. It was a long while before he finally pushed himself back upright, still smiling.

“Alright, Gu Yanyan. Go inside.”

Those words, spoken by Lu Chi, carried far more weight than any death threat from a gloomy ghost. Gu Yanyan’s stiff neck faltered. His head drooped, and after a moment, he reluctantly nodded.

“…Alright.”

Enduring that icy glare, he finally let Lu Chi go and slowly stood up. However, right before leaving, he looked into the man’s light brown eyes and whispered: “Thank you, Teacher Lu.”

Many times, when people took the wrong path, they stubbornly believed they were right. Just one wrong thought, and they lose control, sliding into a pit of fate. Gu Yanyan’s bitterness and resentment were understandable, but still, that wasn’t an excuse for lashing out indiscriminately.

He had to learn to express anger, but not express himself with anger.

Often, once calm, one would realize there had been many other solutions, so Gu Yanyan spoke earnestly: “Loan sharks and violent debt collection are illegal. I’ll call the police and ask for protection. As for my dorm situation, I’ll explain things to the school and try to transfer out and get away from them[mfn]Hell yeah, I never understood why, in novels and webtoons, the “poor shou that’s riddled with debt and threatened by thugs and loan sharks everywhere” doesn’t just go and report it to the police?![/mfn].”

Lu Chi nodded carelessly, clearly uninterested in how Gu Yanyan planned to handle things. Left with no other choice, the boy cast one more reluctant glance at Liang Jiashu before finally turning away.

The alley fell silent again, with only the night breeze brushing past.

Under the streetlight, the tall young man slowly crouched down, lifting his gaze to meet Lu Chi’s. His expression remained unreadable, and his silence heavy. The system’s earlier excitement vanished on the spot, and it now trembled as if its bladder had given out, struggling to say: [H-Host… I-I think I’ll just log off for now…]

Lu Chi chuckled, his blue hair shimmering in the light like delicate fairy wings. As he sat lazily on the steps, he stretched out a hand toward Liang Jiashu and said with unshakable confidence: “Don’t even think about sending people after Gu Yanyan.”

He hadn’t missed the flicker of cold menace in Liang Jiashu’s eyes just moments ago. With Gong No.1’s vicious personality, Gu Yanyan’s survival was anything but guaranteed.

Liang Jiashu paused, then instinctively took hold of that pale, soft hand. In the next instant, his arms tightened, pulling this flamboyant man into a crushing embrace.

It was their first hug in over a week.

Like a dying traveler stumbling upon an oasis, Liang Jiashu finally exhaled, burying his face at Lu Chi’s neck, inhaling like a starving wolf. The fairy in his arms smelled intoxicating, the damp fragrance of his body wash spilling into the entire alley.

Lu Chi raised a brow. He happened to be tired, so he simply went limp, letting himself be held without resistance.

For some reason, with Liang Jiashu, he didn’t feel the need to always stay strong.

After a long time, Liang Jiashu finally spoke, his voice hoarse and clearly excited: “You smell different. Changed your body wash?”

Lu Chi laughed again, hooked his fingers into the hair at the back of Liang Jiashu’s head, and pressed him closer. “Don’t change the subject,” he said. “Promise me, you understand?”

Liang Jiashu held his gaze. After a pause, his tone turned cold and detached as he complained, “Lu Chi, Gu Yanyan is special to you.” He was like a precision machine, spitting out one sharp word after another. After a few seconds, he added, “Liang Zhiyu is also special to you. Why? The two of them, aside from their gender and being useless, share nothing in common.”

The system was terrified by his sharpness, screaming inside Lu Chi’s mind. But Lu Chi only looked at him calmly, and after a moment, spoke slowly, with ease: “Liang Jiashu, you’re special to me, too.”

They were all part of the protagonist cast. None of them could die.

“…”

The gloomy young man fell silent for a long moment. Suddenly, without warning, he leaned in close to Lu Chi as their lips almost touched. Heat burned from the palm gripping Lu Chi’s waist, their breaths tangling together. Liang Jiashu’s voice was low and hoarse as he demanded: “I don’t want them around you.”

Lu Chi blinked. “Hm?”

“…”

“Lu Chi.”

Liang Jiashu’s gaze locked onto him. It carried the kind of madness that made Lu Chi feel like, if he dared to disapprove, the man would whip out a gun the very next second, mow down Gu Yanyan and Liang Zhiyu, then dice up their corpses to wrap into dumplings.

But the thought made Lu Chi chuckle once more. Reaching out, he pinched the back of Liang Jiashu’s neck lightly, saying: “Liang Jiashu, don’t push your luck.”

Liang Jiashu paused, then answered stubbornly and seriously: “For the past week, this was the first time I pushed my luck.”

On the contrary, he had restrained himself.

Restrained like a fish hooked by Lu Chi, enduring his hot-and-cold treatment, always coming at his call. Restraining himself as he stared at that rotten hand that had been holding Lu Chi, crushing down the urge to chop it off and feed it to the dogs.

The one who isn’t loved is the real third wheel?!

He had almost crushed that fool Gu Yanyan underfoot for daring to spout such nonsense. But Lu Chi didn’t like illegal, dirty things, and Liang Jiashu wanted Lu Chi to like him. So he had to endure.

But he’d endured long enough.

Under the light, his handsome features twisted faintly with his emotions, as his dark and distorted eyes fixed on Lu Chi with a kind of unconscious, obsessive paranoia. Lu Chi blinked, then slowly slipped an arm around his neck.

Liang Jiashu froze.

Lu Chi blinked again, tilted his face up, and brushed a light kiss against his jaw.

Liang Jiashu instantly went as stiff as a board.

His self-control shattered so easily it was laughable. Before Lu Chi could mock him, he was suddenly yanked into the man’s arms, his mouth crushed in a fierce kiss as the roughness left no room to breathe. His lips were pried open, his tongue was seized and savagely sucked, bitten, and licked.

“Mmph!”

Their mouths melded together, breaths colliding, as the long-familiar taste came flooding back. Lu Chi’s chest heaved, and muffled groans slipped between their lips. In a daze, he opened his eyes, only to find those black eyes staring right at him.

…Liang Jiashu hadn’t closed his eyes once.

Even while kissing him, he watched him obsessively, gaze like a dull knife, stripping his expression bare, cutting him open piece by piece.

It was practically an assault by sight.

The root of his tongue ached from the suction, his body pressed so tightly in the man’s arms that Liang Jiashu’s broad shoulders blocked out half the lamplight, sealing them from the outside world.

Even more like an assault, but in the physical sense.

Lu Chi narrowed his eyes as he shoved the mad dog away, licking his swollen lips. In the end, he sneered in exasperated amusement: “Liang Jiashu, do you have to act like a dog every single time?!”

But the flash of his crimson tongue only made Liang Jiashu harder, his restraint snapping again. He lunged forward, ready to catch that tongue and suck it dry; however, Lu Chi tilted his face away, yanking his hair hard to hold him back. His light brown eyes shimmered with moisture, reflecting the neon-like soft light. Half-lidded, he gave him a sideways glance, voice hoarse and low, dripping with sensual threat: “I said, stop.”

Liang Jiashu froze at once.

Lu Chi clicked his tongue, stared at him for three seconds, then let out a soft sigh. The next moment, his expression flipped faster than a book as he shoved Liang Jiashu off without mercy, stood up, and started walking toward FOM’s doors.

But he had barely taken two steps when a hoarse voice rasped behind him…

“I won’t do anything to them.”

Lu Chi stopped in his tracks.

Before he could turn, strong arms yanked him back, locking tight around his waist. A palm pressed hard against his abdomen with a raw strength that was out of control.

The voice, too, was broken, ragged, and trembling: “I promise… I won’t touch them. I won’t…”

Their heights were nearly the same. With his head buried against Lu Chi’s shoulder, Liang Jiashu breathed unevenly. After a long time, his voice leveled, calm again: “Lu Chi. Don’t be so cold to me.”

“…”

Lu Chi tilted his head. Fully amused, he eyed the dark, brooding head resting on his shoulder, asking: “What’s going on in that mind of yours?” Then, in a sweet tone of voice, he continued: “I was planning to tell Gu Yanyan to stay away from you for a while. Maybe even apologize for the problems he was about to cause you.”

Well, compared to saving face, staying alive was obviously more important, right?!

Lu Chi thought, a bit exasperated, how come it felt like he was raising two jealous sons fighting for his attention?!

Liang Jiashu froze for a moment, then immediately lifted his head to look at him, his dark eyes suddenly deepened. “…Alright. I’ll listen to you.”

But Lu Chi didn’t believe that for a second. Arching a brow, he smiled slyly: “Really? Then I’ll just go let him hold me for a bit…”

Before he could even finish, the man had already crashed his mouth onto his. Liang Jiashu seemed to lose control of his emotions, forcing him back into the dim, narrow corner of the alley, kissing and sucking him relentlessly. Breathless, Lu Chi raised a brow, tugging on him as he asked between gasps: “What’s got into you this time?!”

Maybe he wasn’t all that normal himself either, messing around with a man in a public place like this.

Liang Jiashu stared at him, too close, his lips constantly brushing along Lu Chi’s beautiful neck and collarbone, biting and licking softly. “I’m just… happy,” he murmured in a rough voice. “Happy that you’d make someone stay away from me.”

“Lu Chi, I’m really happy.”

The timid system suddenly popped up again, clicking its tongue in the data stream: [What script did he just flip into?!He used to be all about control and possession, and now, just because the host told the Protagonist Shou to apologize, he’s this happy…] But the poor digital child only managed to beep for two more times before its voice was abruptly cut off amidst the increasingly R-rated scenes.

Lu Chi raised his hand, catching and forcefully pressing down the fingers sliding inside his waistband. His breath turned heavier now, brow furrowing as he said: “Liang Jiashu, there are cameras!”

It might have been the end of the alley, but surveillance still covered the spot overhead. And yet, Liang Jiashu only gave a low hum, as if he hadn’t heard, lowering his head to suck and lick hard at the tip of Lu Chi’s tongue. His voice was hoarse, frighteningly so, mumbling: “This angle won’t capture you, only me.”

The young man’s gaze was fixed on him, black eyes overflowing with so much twisted obsession that it felt like the darkness itself might solidify in the next moment and coil around Lu Chi, binding him tight. But under such an overwhelming, almost terrifying stare, Lu Chi felt no fear.

On the contrary, he even felt a strange flicker of pleasure.

The very next second, Liang Jiashu dropped to his knees, breathing heavily as he reached for Lu Chi’s waistband. Lu Chi reacted instantly, yanking him back up with force, his fingers gripping that restless throat, refusing him any further movement. Neon lights flickered faintly across the cramped, shadowy corner as their breaths tangled together, desire so heated it felt like it would melt everything.

Lu Chi closed his eyes briefly.

Then he heard Liang Jiashu’s hoarse murmur against his ear: “Teacher Lu, I’ve got condoms in my car.”
