WRR – Chapter 21

By the time Xu Shi had Yu Lingshan pinned to the sofa, she still hadn’t managed to untie the knot in her mouth.

Neither of them was focused on the knot; in fact, they both found it rather obstructive. But Xu Shi didn’t pull it out. She seemed to think that if she did, Yu Lingshan would definitely get angry.

So, with this obstruction still in her mouth, she kissed Yu Lingshan again and again.

The air gradually grew thick, and Yu Lingshan’s light yet heavy breaths escaped through her nose.

Those foxy eyes were now half-closed, exuding a different kind of charm. Breathing through her nose was no longer enough; her mouth opened, exhaling with each breath.

At this moment, Xu Shi loved kissing Yu Lingshan, loved hearing her sounds. When she bit Yu Lingshan, Yu Lingshan would hum. When she teased Yu Lingshan’s tongue, her breathing would become heavy. No matter what, Xu Shi was excited—so excited that her arms tightened and her mouth pressed harder.

Later, she didn’t even know when she had finally gotten rid of the thing in her mouth.

Yu Lingshan was also dizzy from her kisses, completely lost in the moment.

During a pause for breath, Yu Lingshan called out to her in a low voice, “Xiao Zhi.”

Xu Shi loosened her hold slightly.

Yu Lingshan said, “Don’t you want to kiss other places?”

Yu Lingshan’s words were soft, not her usual voice. Because of this sentence, Xu Shi seemed to have a sudden realization: so, other places could be kissed too.

But she didn’t know which places Yu Lingshan would allow her to kiss and which she wouldn’t. So, she tilted her head and first nuzzled the tip of her nose against Yu Lingshan’s ear.

Yu Lingshan’s whole body flinched, and her hand, which had been resting beside her head, grasped at the empty air.

This signal seemed to tell Xu Shi that it was okay, so she lowered her head completely.

Soon, Yu Lingshan’s fists gradually tightened, and just as quickly, they gradually relaxed.

Xu Shi lingered on Yu Lingshan’s ear for a long time. The reaction Yu Lingshan gave her was more than enough, and a deep sense of satisfaction filled Xu Shi’s heart.

Xu Shi continued downward, using the tip of her nose to lift Yu Lingshan’s chin, but she only touched her neck lightly before stopping.

Yu Lingshan shivered at the touch but made no other move. Xu Shi grew bolder.

So she feasted, nibbling her way from the neck all the way down to the collarbone before stopping.

Then her mind told her that she couldn’t go any further.

Xu Shi was already satisfied at this point. It felt like she could continue on to do something else, but she didn’t dare.

She propped herself up a little to look down at Yu Lingshan, seeing that her hair was a mess and both of her wrists were restrained by her, lying limply at her sides.

Yu Lingshan’s clothes were disheveled, her breathing was ragged, and a rare blush colored her face, with the corners of her eyes also a little red.

She wasn’t looking at Xu Shi, her head tilted to the side as if lost in thought.

A few seconds later, Yu Lingshan’s voice cut through the air.

“Fuck.”

Xu Shi’s head was spinning more and more. Yu Lingshan’s sudden curse made her heart pound with panic.

She really wanted to get off the sofa and pull Yu Lingshan up. She felt that Yu Lingshan looked so pitiful right now, bullied to the point of being unable to move and even swearing. But her legs felt a bit weak. The leg that was supposed to step onto the floor missed its mark, and she tumbled right onto the ground.

Xu Shi was exhausted and sleepy, and her head felt heavy, as if she had just done something that took a great deal of effort. She couldn’t get up.

So after lying on the floor for less than ten seconds, Xu Shi fell asleep.

Later, Xu Shi was startled awake by a dream—a very ordinary dream of falling off a cliff.

When she woke up, her head was throbbing. Xu Shi let out a low groan and opened her eyes, finding the surrounding light to be quite dim.

She was lying on the floor, still wearing the dress from that evening. A quilt pulled from the bed was covering her, and a pillow was under her head.

Xu Shi’s heart was pounding. Gradually, she realized she was still in B-City, and this was Yu Lingshan’s room.

Only a floor lamp by the window was on. Xu Shi looked over and saw Yu Lingshan sitting alone in front of the full-length window, propping her head up as she gazed outside.

Yu Lingshan had already changed into her pajamas, her hair looked freshly washed, and her legs were curled up together on the chair.

She looked so beautiful, as if she had merged with the night.

“Yu Lingshan,” Xu Shi sat up and called out to her.

Yu Lingshan didn’t respond.

Suspecting her voice was too quiet, Xu Shi cleared her throat and called again, “Yu Lingshan.”

“I heard you.”

Yu Lingshan answered immediately, a hint of impatience in her tone.

Xu Shi said softly, “Oh.” She thought for a moment and asked, “What time is it?”

Yu Lingshan: “Three.”

Xu Shi was shocked. “Three? Three in the morning?”

Yu Lingshan: “Or three in the afternoon?”

Xu Shi glanced out the window at the sparkling city nightscape.

Xu Shi knew she had gotten drunk again, and must have been so unsteady that she fell right onto the floor and fell asleep. She suddenly remembered Yu Lingshan telling her not to drink tonight, the reason being that she didn’t want to take her back.

She hadn’t taken her back, indeed. Giving her a quilt and a pillow was probably the greatest kindness she could offer.

Xu Shi’s head was really spinning. She had been drunk so many times before, but never this dizzy. Right now, she even felt a little nauseous.

She was the one who insisted on drinking, and she was the one who got drunk. She had no self-awareness. If she were Yu Lingshan, she wouldn’t want to talk to her either.

“Um,” Xu Shi’s voice was slightly meek, “where’s my phone?”

Yu Lingshan: “Sofa.”

Xu Shi threw off the quilt and went over, feeling for her phone on the sofa.

She first opened Xiao Yu’s WeChat; no new messages. Then she checked her call log and saw that Xiao Yu had called her at 10:30 PM, a call that lasted 1 minute and 9 seconds.

“Did, did Xiao Yu say she was coming to pick me up?” Xu Shi stood by the sofa and asked in a small voice.

Yu Lingshan: “She did.”

Xu Shi wanted to ask more, but Yu Lingshan spoke again, “I didn’t let her.”

Xu Shi paused. “Why?”

Yu Lingshan finally turned around, but she didn’t answer Xu Shi’s question. Instead, she asked, “Sober now?”

Yu Lingshan’s voice was even, without any inflection, but it made Xu Shi very scared.

Not scared of her as a person, but she felt that she was angry.

Xu Shi crossed her hands. “Yeah.”

Yu Lingshan fell silent, just looking at Xu Shi.

Xu Shi stood by the sofa, not daring to move.

The two of them just stood there, you looking at me, me looking at you.

The stalemate was broken only when a small lock of hair on Yu Lingshan’s forehead fell due to gravity, and she reached up to brush it away.

Then Yu Lingshan asked, “Have you ever watched porn?”

Xu Shi was stunned. “What?”

Yu Lingshan enunciated clearly, “Porn.”

Xu Shi’s face turned red instantly, even before she answered. “I-I have.”

Yu Lingshan seemed a little surprised. “You’ve actually watched that?”

When Yu Lingshan said this, her tone was light and carried a hint of amused mockery. Although it was a negative emotion, it instantly put Xu Shi at ease.

She felt that if Yu Lingshan was in the mood to joke, it meant she still had a chance.

“I watched it in college, my freshman year,” Xu Shi explained earnestly. “I watched it with my roommates. None of us had ever seen it before, so we were curious and watched it together. We even said whoever didn’t watch was a dog.”

Yu Lingshan finally smiled. She asked, “Was it good?”

Xu Shi shook her head. “Not good.”

Yu Lingshan: “What was it about?”

Xu Shi hesitated. “It was just… kissing and stuff, and then, that…” She quickly added, “I only watched it that one time, never again.”

Xu Shi didn’t know what Yu Lingshan meant, or what she wanted to ask. It… it couldn’t be that she wanted to watch porn together, right?

Then Yu Lingshan fell silent again, her hands resting on the chair as she tilted her head.

Xu Shi didn’t know what to do again. She looked at Yu Lingshan’s very minimal pajamas and, after a moment’s thought, asked, “Aren’t you cold?”

Yu Lingshan immediately replied, “I am.”

Xu Shi: “Then put on more clothes.”

Yu Lingshan didn’t say anything.

Xu Shi remembered there was a jacket on the coat rack, so she went over, took it, and walked over to hand it to Yu Lingshan.

Yu Lingshan didn’t take it, but she didn’t say no either. Xu Shi stood there stiffly for a few seconds before taking matters into her own hands and draping the jacket over Yu Lingshan’s shoulders.

In the process, Xu Shi touched Yu Lingshan’s arm and was surprised. “Your hands are so cold.”

Yu Lingshan: “They are. What should I do?”

Xu Shi: “I’ll turn off the air conditioner.”

Yu Lingshan said, “Don’t.”

Xu Shi thought for a moment. “Then you should go lie in bed.”

Yu Lingshan: “Don’t want to.”

Xu Shi: “You’ll be cold.”

Yu Lingshan: “I will. What should I do?”

Xu Shi was completely at a loss.

Just then, Xu Shi suddenly saw the quilt on the floor and had a great realization.

Yu Lingshan: “Pajamas are in the closet, the blue set on the far left. There’s disposable underwear in the bathroom.”

As she spoke, Yu Lingshan had already walked over to the phone, but Xu Shi still hadn’t moved.

Yu Lingshan: “Go.”

Only then did Xu Shi say, “Oh.”

Actually, Xu Shi wanted to do something, but it seemed there was really nothing she could do. In the end, after thinking for a long time, she finally said to Yu Lingshan, “Don’t walk around barefoot, it’s cold.”

Yu Lingshan reluctantly took a few steps back to the edge of the rug and put on her slippers. “Is that better?”

Yu Lingshan was already on the phone calling for an attendant, so Xu Shi walked to the closet Yu Lingshan had mentioned. She had thought that someone like Yu Lingshan, who casually tossed things around, would have a messy closet, but when she opened it, she found it was surprisingly neat.

Yu Lingshan had really brought a lot of things. The event was only for three days, but she seemed to have packed for a month—clothes, dresses, jackets, and various jewelry and bags.

Xu Shi felt too embarrassed to look for long and quickly took out the pajamas Yu Lingshan had mentioned.

But after a moment’s thought, she put the pajamas back and took the clothes she had changed out of that afternoon instead.

Then she secretly glanced back at Yu Lingshan, saw that she was on the phone, and quickly slipped into the bathroom.

When she came out of the shower, a new quilt had already arrived. The food and drinks they had, as well as the floor, had been cleaned up. But Yu Lingshan wasn’t in bed. She was leaning against the sofa, still barefoot, her feet on the rug as she looked at her phone.

When Xu Shi came out, she had only glanced at her, but half a second later, her head snapped up.

Then she let out a laugh. “Fine. You can.”

Xu Shi: “I…”

Yu Lingshan: “You can go.”

Xu Shi shook her head. “That’s not it.”

Yu Lingshan interrupted her again. “Want me to see you out?”

Xu Shi: “No.”

Yu Lingshan: “I’m going to sleep.”

Xu Shi: “…Oh.”

Xu Shi’s flight tomorrow morning was at nine, and she had to gather downstairs at the hotel at six. She had to get up very early tomorrow…

But clearly, Yu Lingshan didn’t want to hear her explanation.

In the end, Xu Shi said goodbye and told her to get some sleep before leaving the room.

It was a five-minute drive from Yu Lingshan’s hotel to hers, and also a five-minute walk. When she got downstairs, Xu Shi was hesitating whether to call a car or walk back when a familiar car pulled up in front of her.

It was the private car Yu Lingshan had chartered for the past two days. After the car stopped, the window rolled down, and the driver leaned out. “Miss Xu, please get in. Teacher Yu asked me to take you back.”

Xu Shi: “Thank you.”

The drive was smooth at night, and it wasn’t long before Xu Shi was back in her own room.

The first thing Xu Shi did after entering the room was to send Yu Lingshan a message saying she had arrived, and then she went to wash up.

But Yu Lingshan never replied to the message. Xu Shi didn’t know what was wrong, whether she had done something wrong, or if Yu Lingshan was angry.

She did seem rather unhappy, and Xu Shi didn’t know if it had anything to do with her.

Because she kept thinking about Yu Lingshan, Xu Shi had a bit of insomnia. She tossed and turned in bed until after 4 AM before falling asleep, and then her alarm went off at 5:10 AM. She had barely slept.

She got up to wash up first, then packed her luggage. At 5:30, Xiao Yu also woke up. She seemed a little surprised to see her back and asked if she had missed the chance to see Teacher Yu. She also asked when she had come back yesterday, why she hadn’t said anything and had been so quiet, and if Teacher Yu had sent her back. She had thought Teacher Yu would arrange a place for Xu Shi to sleep, so why was she back? How much had she drunk? Then she lamented that she was fated not to meet Teacher Yu.

Xu Shi responded with a series of distracted “uh-huhs” and “no’s.”

She hadn’t finished packing, and Yu Lingshan hadn’t replied to her message. Thinking that Yu Lingshan definitely wouldn’t be awake this early, Xu Shi focused on packing first.

Later, when it was time, everyone gathered downstairs to get on the bus. Xu Shi still sent Yu Lingshan a message saying she was leaving.

Thinking that Yu Lingshan was probably still asleep, Xu Shi locked her phone after sending the message.

Just as she put her phone away, it suddenly rang. It was Tingting.

Xu Shi immediately answered.

“Are you on your way back?” Tingting asked as soon as she picked up.

Xu Shi: “Not yet, we just left. We haven’t reached the airport. What’s wrong?”

Tingting said, “Teacher Yu is sick.”
