Chapter 019 The Young Master – “ [Wen Xusheng, something is wrong with you! You are really wrong!!!] ” (19/35)

Chapter 019 The Young Master – “ [Wen Xusheng, something is wrong with you! You are really wrong!!!]  ” (19/35)

The pulses in all the live streams were rising.

As a variety show veteran, Meng Yisong was well aware of what kind of reaction Shi Jingge’s response would provoke. However, Wei Zhiyun’s subtle wordplay, which had set a trap for the young master, was even more chilling.

The young master had never done anything to Wei Zhiyun, yet Wei Zhiyun had deliberately targeted him.

The young master’s reaction might have been excessive or unpopular, but the one plotting against him was someone whose true intentions were malicious!

Who’d want to be in a variety show and encounter someone with such deceitful intentions?

Variety shows could boost your fan base quickly, but if you got in trouble, you’d lose followers even faster!

Meng Yisong rubbed his temples and cursed under his breath, and even his gaze toward Wei Zhiyun was no longer gentle.

Wei Zhiyun, however, put on a look of confusion and helplessness, urgently asking, “Did I say something wrong?”

Unfortunately, Wei Zhiyun’s acting skills were mediocre at best. The viewers in the live stream might not have noticed, but Meng Yisong, who was there in person, certainly did.

Meng Yisong cursed under his breath and moved a few steps away from Wei Zhiyun, saying, “I’ll go find out what’s going on.”

“I’ll go! I’m going too!” Wei Zhiyun hurriedly followed, looking frustrated and muttering, “This damn mouth of mine! Why does it always get me into trouble whenever I open it? I just wanted to build a relationship with Shi Shao, but not only did I fail to do that, I also ended up offending him…”

However, Wei Zhiyun didn’t turn off his mic, so the viewers in his live stream heard every word clearly.

This sparked a new round of chaos in the live stream.

>>Wah wah wah, our Wei Wei is so kind. Even now, he’s defending that stupid rich kid. He’s just a pure idiot. Wei Wei helped him create a meme and generate buzz, and this is how he repays us?<<

>>As expected, rich kids have no heart. They just pretend to be nice, but in the end, they can’t keep it up, can they?<<

>>I feel so sorry for Wei Wei. He was just being friendly to him, teaching him how to behave, and explaining the show’s rules, but look at how he reacted. Good deeds don’t always get rewarded.<<

>>He can’t even take a joke. What a jerk.<<

>>This is so frustrating! Wei Wei is still defending him, and it’s making me even angrier!<<

>>I’ve said it from the moment the official announcement was made yesterday—this guy is definitely a troublemaker. I knew it! Haha.<<

>>Shi Jingge, get out of ‘Starting with Cohabitation’!<<

Wei Zhiyun showed off his kindness from the very beginning, even coming over to explain the rules to Shi Jingge and share his experience with him. He was clearly treating Shi Jingge like a friend. As a joke between friends, who would’ve thought that Shi Jingge would be so petty and turn on him like that?

As the “victim,” Wei Zhiyun was humiliated and lost face yet he went out of his way to make excuses for Shi Jingge. How could the fans not feel sorry for him?

It was so heartbreaking!

At this point, the live stream comments were overwhelmingly one-sided, and Shi Jingge’s live stream was all but impossible to see through the bullet comments.

Meng Yisong rubbed his temples, realizing that in order to calm things down, he would have to at least get the young master to come back.

He felt that Shi Jingge wasn’t the type to flip out over a minor disagreement.

Meng Yisong took a step forward to chase after him, but Wei Zhiyun called out repeatedly, “Meng Ge! Meng Ge!”

Meng Yisong didn’t want to acknowledge him, but the live stream was still up, and Wei Zhiyun was shouting loudly, so he couldn’t just ignore him. He had no choice but to stop.

“Meng Ge, Meng Ge, let’s go find the young master together.” Wei Zhiyun reached out and patted Meng Yisong’s shoulder, ignoring the other’s stiffness. He spoke guiltily, “I must’ve said something wrong earlier. I probably offended the young master. I should go with you and apologize to him.”

“I’m scared though.” Wei Zhiyun paused, then mumbled something indistinctly, “ When we get there, please say a few good words for me, Meng Ge.” Saying that, Wei Zhiyun bowed to him in a proper manner.

Immediately, the live stream exploded with more energy.

This was all calculated to make Shi Jingge look bad. Meng Yisong’s eyes turned cold, and he made a mental note against Wei Zhiyun.

But now wasn’t the time to solve accounts. The young master was quick on his feet, so they had to go find him first.

Meng Yisong was able to distinguish between what was important and what wasn’t, so even though he felt disgusted, he just nodded.

The live stream continued with wave after wave of negative comments, and Mr. Troll was having a field day.

He’d been struggling all morning, and now he was finally satisfied! Now he was in a good mood!

The young master was running too fast, and Wei Zhiyun was dithering around, delaying time. Meng Yisong was getting really annoyed.

When they finally spotted Shi Jingge’s figure, Meng Yisong’s eyes lit up. He said to Wei Zhiyun, “I see the young master! I’ll go catch up with him first!”

Before Wei Zhiyun could say anything, Meng Yisong had already run ahead.

Wei Zhiyun had originally wanted to stall for time, but seeing how fast Meng Yisong was running, he could only grit his teeth and give chase. However, he was still a bit slower, and when he looked up ahead, he had a bitter smile on his face.

That smile was particularly sad. Seeing that, people in his live stream had already started cursing Meng Yisong as well.

Finally, Meng Yisong caught up with Shi Jingge. Before he could catch his breath, he heard the staff say, “No.”

Then the young master persistently asked, “I caught the fish myself. Don’t I have the right to decide what to do with it?”

The staff member coldly replied, “Sorry, but the answer is still no.”

The young master clenched his teeth. “Then can I treat him to a meal?”

The staff member looked at the young master with pity. “Be assured, the program team won’t give you that opportunity.”

The young master: “…”

Shi Jingge, furious and embarrassed, exclaimed, “I can’t even treat him to a meal to strengthen our camaraderie? How are we supposed to build a friendship like this?”

“Don’t worry,” the staff member said slowly. “There will always be opportunities to fight side by side in the future, and your friendship will grow then.”

The young master: “???”

Shi Jingge couldn’t argue with him anymore, so he glared at him, turned his head, and came face to face with Meng Yisong.

“What are you here for?” the young master asked awkwardly.

“You ran off without a word. We were worried about you.” Meng Yisong smiled and subtly alerted him.

“Oh.” The young master realized, speaking casually, “I came to ask if I could share the fish I caught with you. That way, I can catch more, and everyone will have something to eat! We could even store the extra for tomorrow. That way, we won’t have to go hungry!”

Suddenly, Meng Yisong felt both amused and exasperated.

The production team really had no sense of decency! Look at this child! Look at the psychological trauma that the search for “prohibited items” had left on the young master!

Shi Jingge continued, “Who knew the production team was so heartless? They said this was specially provided by them and couldn’t be traded, given away, or sold. If you cannot eat it today, you have to hand it over to them in exchange for other items. Two fish can be exchanged for a container of instant noodles, but they don’t even provide hot water.”

The young master paused for a moment, but ultimately couldn’t hold back his anger and said hatefully, “Swindlers!”

Meng Yisong: “…” When I hear the young master say that word, it sounds strange.

Suddenly, the comments in Shi Jingge’s live stream stopped.

Then, all sorts of question marks appeared.

>>???<<

>>?????<<

>>What? The young master wasn’t giving them the cold shoulder, he just wanted to ask someone about the rules?<<

>>Oh my god, maybe we misunderstood the young master?<<

>>Is this the psychological trauma left over from searching for banned items earlier??<<

At that moment, Wei Zhiyun belatedly arrived.

Wei Zhiyun deliberately hesitated, looking hesitant, then gritted his teeth, took two steps forward, and said, “I’m sorry, Shi Shao, I didn’t know you were bothered by this, I…”

The young master looked completely confused and asked, “What are you talking about?”

Wei Zhiyun stared blankly. “You’re not angry?”

“Why would I be angry?” the young master asked in return.

“It’s just that earlier…” Wei Zhiyun stammered, then touched his nose and gave an awkward smile.

“Shi Shao just went to ask the production team if he can distribute the fish he caught freely.” Meng Yisong spoke up at this moment, looking relaxed. He teased, “The young master clearly doesn’t understand the production team’s true nature yet. Look, he’s so angry his face is red.”

Shi Jingge covered his face with his hands. “I’m not!”

He turned and walked away, taking large steps, but gradually his pace slowed. He rubbed his cheeks, still feeling something was off, and turned to look at Meng Yisong behind him. Meng Yisong looked over in confusion. The young master took a couple of steps back and asked in a muffled voice, “…Is it really that red?”

Meng Yisong almost burst out laughing.

But seeing the young master’s mix of shame and anger, he forced himself to hold back his laughter. “A little,” Meng Yisong said sincerely. “Just a little.”

The young master hesitated for a moment, then stretched out his finger and gestured, “This much?”

Meng Yisong’s expression twitched for a moment, but he forced himself to endure and nodded. The young master finally let out a sigh of relief and said thank you awkwardly.

Watching the young master’s back, Meng Yisong slowly squatted down.

Once he was sure the young master was far enough away, Meng Yisong couldn’t help but bury his head in his legs and burst into laughter.

Although this action muffled most of the sound, he was wearing a microphone, so the viewers in the live stream could still hear him.

Meng Yisong laughed so hard he couldn’t help but slap the ground.

The live stream already had a large audience laughing uncontrollably, and his action caused the other viewers to burst out laughing too.

After a while, Meng Yisong struggled to stand up and exclaimed, “This little master is just too cute!”

>>Indeed.<<

>>He even used his fingers to gesture ‘a little’. My seven-year-old niece only does that when she’s being spoiled by her mom!<<

>>Damn, the face slapping came too fast, like a tornado. Now I look like an idiot for spitting passionately at the little master just a moment ago.<<

>>Me too…<<

>>The little master just ran away, and his running back was so deceiving. Who would’ve thought he was running to ask the production team? QAQ.<<

>>I don’t know if it’s just my imagination, but I have a feeling that the little master is really silly, hahahaha.<<

>>Seconded. He’s so cute when he’s silly.<<

>>I’m going to the young master’s live stream to send some apology gifts. Wuwuwu, I was a bit harsh earlier.<<

>>Take me with you! Take me with you!<<

>>I’m going too! I’m going to apologize, wuwuwu—<<

This twist wasn’t just shocking to the viewers watching the live stream; even Wei Zhiyun was taken aback.

Shi Jingge wasn’t angry; he instead went to ask the staff about the rules?

Is this something a stupid rich second-generation kid would do? Can anyone believe it? Can anyone imagine it?

Fortunately, Wei Zhiyun remembered he was live streaming and quickly adjusted his face.

“This is what you should call a good brother! The young master is definitely a good guy. It’s the program team that’s not human. They must be afraid that the young master and I will develop feelings for each other, no?

“The program team doesn’t want us to cultivate a relationship, but I’m going to dedicate myself to it!” Wei Zhiyun stated with a smile. “Today’s goal: become good brothers with the young master and steal Wen Ge’s spot!”

Wei Zhiyun said all this jokingly, and the live stream’s comments gradually calmed down. Since he had performed well before, most viewers didn’t notice his ulterior motives, and many even offered advice on how to steal the young master as a partner.

It was as if the intense criticism of Shi Jingge had never happened.

Shi Jingge’s live stream still had some traces of the apology comments. However, as the comments disappeared, the incident ended up being completely forgotten.

Mr. Troll numbly watched the live stream, but eventually let out a long sigh and slumped in his chair. Three seconds later, he slammed his fist on the table.

“Ahhhhhhh!!!” His happiness didn’t even last five minutes!

Soon, the production team announced that the fishing was over.

The other group of guests who had gone farming returned. They were carrying baskets filled with vegetables such as pumpkin, corn, and tomatoes.

The young master ran over to Wen Xusheng, who had some dirt on his face and several scratches on the back of his hand, looking somewhat disheveled.

The young master bit his lip but did not speak.

Wen Xusheng asked in a low voice, “What’s wrong?”

Shi Jingge hesitated. He looked at the scratches on the back of Wen Xusheng’s hand, but remained silent.

Wen Xusheng followed his gaze and saw the scratches on his hands. He smiled softly and said, “Don’t worry, it doesn’t hurt.”

“I didn’t ask if it hurt,” the little master retorted unhappily. After a pause, he lowered his voice and asked, “…It really doesn’t hurt?”

A smile appeared in Wen Xusheng’s eyes. “Really.”

At that moment, the program team began announcing the order of the draw.

Wen Xusheng’s popularity went without saying while Shi Jingge’s live stream started off with mediocre viewership. However, due to the incident with Wei Zhiyun, the live stream’s viewership skyrocketed, though it still couldn’t match Meng Yisong’s and the others’. The combined viewership with Wen Xusheng’s was enough to secure the top spot.

“This is the most important draw out of all of them. There are seven pieces of paper inside: two for luxury homes, two for ordinary homes, and three for homes in less desirable locations. What you get is entirely up to luck. The one with the higher viewership in the live stream will draw first, which is Wen Xusheng.”

“The chance of getting a luxurious house is only two out of seven, while the probability of getting a poorly conditioned house is a full three out of seven. That isn’t fair!” The young master widened his eyes in indignation.

The director smiled and said, “Sorry, I’m not good with words. I don’t know what fairness means.”

The young master: “…”

Three seconds later, Shi Jingge turned to Wen Xusheng and whispered, “We should’ve asked my older brother to come and experience this. He said I was arrogant. Compared to these people from the production team, how am I arrogant?”

Wen Xusheng couldn’t help but chuckle and asked, “How’s your luck?”

The young master nodded confidently. “Of course it’s good. How could I catch a fish with bad luck?”

“But my luck has always been bad,” Wen Xusheng said with a hint of frustration.

Shi Jingge also grew tense. “What should we do?”

“Do you want to live in a nice house?” Wen Xusheng asked in a low voice.

The young master hesitated. “…Everyone wants that, right?”

“Yes.” Wen Xusheng smiled. “I want to live in a nice house too. But my luck isn’t good. Can you lend me some of your luck?” Wen Xusheng gazed at the young master with intense eyes.

Shi Jingge looked up at Wen Xusheng, completely confused. “Huh?”

Wen Xusheng spoke earnestly, “I need your help, Xiao Ge.”

“Oh, oh, oh.” The young master scratched his nose and nodded obediently. “Alright.”

“What should I do?” the young master asked with his head down.

“Put your hand in mine. That’s how you’ll lend me your luck,” Wen Xusheng spoke casually and extended his hand first.

The young master hesitated for a moment, then thought that they were all brothers, so what was the big deal about holding hands?

He and Mu Jincheng had shaken hands countless times!

Shi Jingge placed his hand on top of Wen Xusheng’s. He didn’t know why, but this act felt so familiar. In a daze, a fragment flashed through his mind, but it was too fast for him to grasp.

But at this moment, he could only push these doubts into the back of his mind.

Wen Xusheng sighed deeply in his heart. He had no idea how much he wanted to turn his hand over and hold the young master’s hand, intertwining their fingers.

But he couldn’t do that now. It would scare him.

Wen Xusheng lowered his eyes and used all his strength to pull his hand away from Shi Jingge’s.

“Thank you, Xiao Ge.” Wen Xusheng’s voice was slightly hoarse as he walked quickly toward the raffle box.

It was just a matter of probability. Ordinary rooms and luxury suites accounted for four-sevenths of the total, which was a higher proportion than the less desirable rooms. At least he should be able to get one of those, right?

Wen Xusheng had never cared about these things, but in that moment, he hoped that Lady Luck would smile down at him.

At least he should get an ordinary room.

Otherwise… The young master would be sad, wouldn’t he?

He didn’t want to see him sad.

Wen Xusheng lowered his eyes and stood quietly for a while before slowly pulling out a slip of paper.

It read, “Standard Room 1.”

Wen Xusheng exhaled deeply. “If it weren’t for you lending me your luck, we would’ve ended up in the worst room. My luck has always been terrible. Thank you, Xiao Ge,” he spoke solemnly, comforting the young master’s disappointment with a few words.

Shi Jingge lifted his head, his eyes sparkling. “Of course!”

Wen Xusheng suddenly felt a bit dazed.

…Those eyes were really beautiful.

At this moment, the two live streams had merged into one, and the comments were so dense that they completely covered the two people’s faces.

>>Wen Ge, something’s wrong with you!!<<

>>Wen Ge! Wen Ge!! Have you been possessed by someone else’s soul!!!<<

>>Is this really my Wen Ge?<<

>>Wen Ge, cheer up! The upper echelons isn’t something you can just join whenever you want!!<<

>>Wen Ge, listen to me! We’re not joining the upper class! We’re not!!<<

>>Wen Ge! Wen Ge, calm down!!<<

>>Holy crap, I’ve been a fan of Wen Ge for so long and I’ve never seen him this nervous!<<

>>Wen Xusheng, you’re acting weird! You’re acting really weird!!!<<

At that moment, the otherwise harmonious live stream was completely set off, igniting Mu Jincheng’s anger.

When the official announcement was made, Mu Jincheng had already lost his temper once. Later, thinking about Shi Jingge’s temperament, he realized that appearing on a live reality show would definitely not end well, which made him feel a little better.

However, after staying up all night and agonizing over it for the entire morning, he eventually opened it.

When Mu Jincheng entered the live stream, it was the moment when Wei Zhiyun and Shi Jingge were blowing up. At the time, the rhythm was completely negative, with people cursing Shi Jingge left and right, and those who didn’t welcome him were everywhere. Mu Jincheng felt a little smug, thinking, ‘See, this is what happens when you stray away from me.’

Without him directing and watching over him, someone like Shi Jingge could never get away with anything.

Shi Jingge was being criticized more and more fiercely, and Mu Jincheng even pretended to send a few messages in support of him, but his choice of words and tone were so ridiculous that it only provoked more anger from the audience.

But Mu Jincheng didn’t have much time to gloat before everything took a sudden turn!

Fuck!

Mu Jincheng blurted out a few swear words on the spot, then tried to switch sides and stir up the audience, but unfortunately, Wen Xusheng and Shi Jingge had joined forces, and their live streams merged into one. The screen was flooded with comments, and no one could see his attempts to manipulate them anymore.

Mu Jincheng was furious.

What angered him the most, however, was the way Wen Xusheng acted toward Shi Jingge.

—This Wen Xusheng must have feelings for Shi Jingge!

But Shi Jingge… didn’t seem completely disinterested in Wen Xusheng either.

Shi Jingge trusted Wen Xusheng so much, just like he had trusted him back then…

No.

Shi Jingge trusted Wen Xusheng even more than he trusted Mu Jincheng.

Mu Jincheng’s gaze was cold.

In fact, he hadn’t been doing very well lately.

He hadn’t managed to connect with anyone he wanted to, his finances were in a bit of a mess since he had lost contact with Shi Jingge, and he didn’t have anyone who could give him money to cover his expenses. On top of that, his siblings were eyeing him greedily, eager to get their hands on his money, and the projects he’d been working on had encountered one setback after another. He was also facing pressure from all sides, which made it difficult for him to breathe.

Although he had connected with Du Mingxu, the other man was a tightfisted individual and harbored some resentment toward him. Without showing genuine sincerity, Du Mingxu naturally wouldn’t offer him anything.

And in reality, even if he did show sincerity, Du Mingxu might not give him anything either.

Not every spoiled rich kid was like Shi Jingge. This thought crossed Mu Jincheng’s mind, making him pause for a moment.

“Damn it,” Mu Jincheng muttered under his breath, his gaze slowly drifting to the water cup beside his computer.

The water cup was a gift from Shi Jingge. The decorative item beside it was also from Shi Jingge. The wooden picture frame, the figurine, and even the computer itself were all gifts from Shi Jingge.

Shi Jingge had seduced him like this back then. Now, was he doing the same to Wen Xusheng?

Mu Jincheng’s eyes betrayed his jealousy when he looked at the computer screen once more.

At that moment, Shi Jingge was tilting his head up while talking to Wen Xusheng. His eyes shone so brightly that one could clearly see Wen Xusheng’s reflection in them.

Shi Jingge had never looked at him like that before.

Not even during the best times of their relationship.

It was as though such a gaze was reserved solely for Wen Xusheng.

Why?

After all those years of scheming and plotting, why did Mu Jincheng have to let something he couldn’t obtain slip away to Wen Xusheng?

After all those years Mu Jincheng had spent with Shi Jingge, was he really no match for Wen Xusheng?

Now that Shi Jingge had Wen Xusheng, did he no longer want Mu Jincheng?

As he thought of Shi Jingge’s recent cold shoulder, Mu Jincheng’s eyes hardened. He stared at the screen, his gaze as poisonous as ever.

Shi Jingge, don’t even think about getting rid of me.

You’re coming back in three days, right?

I’ll be waiting for you.

I’ll start waiting for you right now.

Will everything return to normal, or will we both be destroyed?

It all depends on your choice.

Shi Jingge.
