Chapter 020 The Young Master – “Don’t bully Xiaoge.” (20/35)
After sorting out the house matters, the next thing to worry about was lunch.
Of course, he couldn’t expect the young master to cook, so before coming, Wen Xusheng had spent a few days brushing up on his cooking skills. Although his skills weren’t great, at least the food was edible.
Glancing at the vegetables in the basket, Wen Xusheng whispered, “How about potato strips, cold tomato salad, and corn and pumpkin soup for lunch?”
Shi Jingge looked puzzled. “No fish?”
Wen Xusheng repeated, “Fish?”
Shi Jingge shook the small wooden bucket in his hand. “I caught some fish!” His tone carried a hint of pride, which was quite endearing.
Wen Xusheng looked at the small wooden bucket in Shi Jingge’s hands.
Since all the guests who went fishing brought wooden buckets, and the production team’s habits were well-known, Wen Xusheng didn’t think there was anything inside.
Shi Jingge noticed his gaze and opened the lid. A decent-sized carp was jumping around inside.
“Impressive,” Wen Xusheng murmured.
“Of course.” Shi Jingge lifted his head to look at him, his eyes sparkling with pride.
Like a cat basking in its own glory. Even if his tail were sticking straight up in the air, he’d still be adorable.
Wen Xusheng’s hands itched.
But the young master wasn’t on guard, still looking at the fish and turning his head toward him. Wen Xusheng tried to resist, but the temptation was right before his eyes—how could he possibly hold back?
His hands began to twitch uncontrollably.
Shi Jingge didn’t even look up, asking excitedly, “How should we cook this fish? Steamed? Sweet and sour? Braised in sauce?” He said it casually, with a hint of everyday life, which suddenly gave Wen Xusheng a strange feeling.
It felt as though they were truly living under the same roof, discussing the menu every day, their lives intertwined, indistinguishable from one another.
This feeling was unfamiliar to Wen Xusheng, but he found himself enjoying it.
“Sweet and sour and sauce-grilled are too difficult,” Wen Xusheng said in a hoarse voice. “I don’t know how to do them.” After a pause, he suggested, “How about steamed?”
“Sounds good.” The young master was unusually quick to agree. After a pause, he muttered, “At least you know how to steam fish. I don’t even know how to scale one. You’re much more useful than me.” He hung his head.
Wen Xusheng smiled. “Didn’t you catch the fish?”
The young master froze for a moment and looked up at him.
Wen Xusheng naturally took the wooden bucket from his hands. “There are quite a few people here who can steam fish. But the only one who can catch fish is you. Who do you think is more useful?”
Before the young master could respond, the comments exploded.
>>???<<
>>I think Wen Ge has been replaced. This definitely isn’t my Wen Ge.<<
>>Are we sure this show doesn’t have a script? How could Wen Ge say something like that?<<
>>Stop contesting, you two are both impressive and your mother’s favorite children!<<
>>This is clearly the main character trying to make me swoon by saying something so sweet!<<
>>I told you something was off about Wen Xusheng! He is definitely not normal!<<
>>Wen Ge taking the bucket was way too natural! This CP is a must-watch!!<<
Just as the young master didn’t know how to respond, a piercing cry suddenly caught their attention.
“Fuck! Are your hands blessed? You drew a thatched hut? A leaky thatched hut at that! Tell me honestly, did I offend you? How else could you pull this thing out? God, I’m not asking for a luxury room, but you can’t make me fix a roof on my first day!“ Meng Yisong pulled his partner’s arm and pounded his thigh, tears welling up in his eyes.
His partner had no choice but to pitifully reply, “Can I just pray that it doesn’t rain this week?”
“Like hell it won’t!” Meng Yisong smacked his partner on the shoulder.
But the two were clearly very close, and they started laughing as they fooled around.
Shi Jingge hesitated, tugged at Wen Xusheng’s sleeve, and whispered in his ear, “Before we came, I checked the weather forecast.”
“Hm?” Wen Xusheng tilted his head to look at him.
The young master avoided his gaze and instinctively took a step back, his ears turning slightly red. “It’s going to rain for the next few days,” he said in a muffled whisper.
“Oh,” Wen Xusheng replied without moving.
“What are you standing there for? Tell them!” the young master urged.
Wen Xusheng didn’t look up, just smiled lightly. “Why should I go?”
The young master pushed him, furious. “I told you to go, so go!”
“Alright,” Wen Xusheng agreed readily.
Mr. Troll who had been about to speak up for Wen Xusheng stopped in his tracks.
—Why is Wen Xusheng being so accommodating?
Not only were the critics perplexed, but even his fans were also confused.
>>Damn, is my Wen Ge really this soft?<<
>>I’ve never seen Wen Ge be this obedient, except now.<<
>>Why do I get the feeling that they’re an old married couple?<<
>>A spoiled young master and a high-class man, it seems quite appealing?<<
>>Are you sure Wen Ge can live up to the title of “unattainable flower” in front of the little master? He’s as tender as water!<<
>>Damn, this is so good! There are thousands of different kinds of water, but I only drink from one cup. Everyone thinks I’m arrogant and cold, but they don’t know that I only show my tenderness to you.<<
>>Can the author please write 3,000 words today? I’m hungry, I want the author to feed me!<<
>>The CP fans are already here?? Where are the solo fans? Come out and defend your Wen Ge!<<
>>Solo fans: Wait, I’m coming!<<
Before the solo fans could think of the right words to defend their Wen Ge, he had already shut them up.
Wen Xusheng took a few steps forward, then turned to look at Shi Jingge and suddenly smiled . That smile erased most of his coldness, leaving a hint of warmth. “You.” He sighed, his tone tinged with teasing. “Protecting me like this?”
Before the young master could get angry, Wen Xusheng turned and walked away with a wave. “I’ll be right back.”
Shi Jingge stared at his back, then finally stomped his feet. “Who’s protecting you? You’re just spouting nonsense and ruining my reputation! I’m so angry, I’m gonna die!”
But—
The young master, who was shouting that he was going to die from anger, had his ears turning red. Many viewers in the live stream noticed this point and started joking about it until everyone agreed.
—This little master is really cute, isn’t he?
Mr. Troll looked at the colorful and positive comments in the live stream, then looked at the provocative words he’d written halfway.
Finally, Mr. Troll sighed deeply.
Look, he’s gained experience now 🙂
Wen Xusheng stepped forward to remind Meng Yisong of the weather, who was taken aback and thanked him repeatedly. Everyone said Wen Xusheng was aloof, but looking at him now, he didn’t seem so cold after all. He even came over to inform them.
Just as this thought crossed Meng Yisong’s mind, Wen Xusheng pointed at the little master and chuckled. “That guy is being shy. He checked the forecast and knew it was going to rain these two days, but was too shy to tell you, so he made me come over. I just lingered for a moment, and he even prodded me.”
Was Wen Xusheng trying to make the young master well-liked?
The two of them were actually so close!
Wen Xusheng was always so aloof and silent. When did he start saying so much for someone else?
—So these two are a couple!
Meng Yisong suddenly understood and laughed. “Then I must thank the young master later.”
Wen Xusheng didn’t pursue the topic and just asked, “I heard you’re a good cook?”
When this topic came up, Meng Yisong was very proud. “I even have a certificate.”
“Can you teach me how to make sweet and sour fish?” Wen Xusheng spoke slowly, and Meng Yisong agreed without hesitation.
However, Meng Yisong blinked and asked, “Sweet and sour fish is time-consuming… Do you like sweet and sour flavors?”
Wen Xusheng shook his head.
“If you don’t like sweet and sour flavors and the young master doesn’t like fish, there’s no need to make sweet and sour fish,” Meng Yisong said casually.
Wen Xusheng was taken aback. “He doesn’t like fish?”
Meng Yisong replied, “You didn’t know? He said he got a fishbone stuck in his throat when he was little, so he doesn’t like fish anymore. Just now, everyone went to the fish pond, but we all know how the production team is. Except for the young master, no one else was fishing.
“The young master was fishing so seriously, just sitting there, staring straight at the fishing hook, not moving at all. We thought he must really love fish, but then he said he doesn’t eat fish. I wonder who likes to eat fish, making the young master fish so earnestly.” The last sentence was spoken by Meng Yisong with a hint of teasing.
Wen Xusheng lowered his eyes and said lightly, “Me.”
“What?” Meng Yisong hadn’t expected Wen Xusheng to respond to that, and was momentarily taken aback.
Then he saw Wen Xusheng smile lightly and say, “I like to eat fish.”
With those words, Wen Xusheng strolled away.
Whether it was Meng Yisong’s imagination or not, he watched Wen Xusheng’s back and felt that the joy had already been transmitted, spreading with the wind to every corner of the earth.
“Burp—”
Meng Yisong suddenly let out a belch.
His partner looked at him. “What’s wrong?”
Meng Yisong shook his head coldly. “Nothing.”
What was there to be wrong about? He’d just been buried in dog food.
Once again, he’d been force fed a steady stream of dog food 🙂
The comments were flooding in, crying over the two’s beautiful love story. In the blink of an eye, their couple name had already been coined, and even a Weibo super topic had been created.
They called them “Shengge[mfn]Shengge, from combining their names Sheng (生 shēng to be born; to give birth; life; to grow; raw; uncooked; student) Ge (歌 gē song; CL:支[zhi1],首[shou3]; to sing)[/mfn] CP.”
Many viewers thought the CP name was brilliant and perfectly suited them. After all, when Wen Xusheng met the young master, didn’t he burst into life?
Who could’ve seen this side of Wen Xusheng before?
He was always cold, silent, and restrained, keeping absolute distance from everything around him. That sense of not fitting in was very peculiar.
But when he was with the young master, he was different.
At least, he would smile.
The young master’s performance this morning had changed countless people’s opinions of him. Not only in the live stream, but also on Weibo–many people apologized for their impulsive comments during yesterday’s official announcement, and his Weibo follower count has increased significantly.
As soon as the “Shengge CP” super topic was created, the number of followers steadily climbed, and many fans couldn’t control their impulsive spirit and began creating fan works.
And this was just the beginning.
This time, the program team really didn’t play by the rules and didn’t prepare any other ways to obtain food, so many guests who didn’t get much performed a tearful scene on the spot.
Shi Jingge and Wen Xusheng naturally had the most, as a feast was waiting for them. But the reality was…
“Does this need to be lit?” the young master asked hesitantly, staring blankly at the stove in the kitchen while squatting down..
Wen Xusheng nodded heavily “Let’s look for a lighter or matches or something to light it.”
The young master ran out to find a staff member, then returned angrily, gritting his teeth. “The production team refused to provide any. They said we have to trade food for it. Two tomatoes for a match. I’d rather drill wood to make fire than use their matches!”
Wen Xusheng patted him on the shoulder in comfort. “Then we’ll drill wood to make a fire.”
What was supposed to be a cozy episode of ‘Starting with Cohabitation’ was about to turn into *Survival Story*, returning to the most primitive way of life.
But rubbing sticks together to start a fire wasn’t exactly a simple task!
After fiddling around for over half an hour, they hadn’t managed to start a fire, but they had managed to cut their fingers.
Shi Jingge thought for a moment, grabbed a tomato, and ran out. He looked around and found that Meng Yisong had actually managed to start a fire. He immediately took the tomato and traded it for the flame.
Meng Yisong was just worried about not having any food, so he didn’t hesitate to agree.
But the production team didn’t approve.
The staff firmly stopped their “trade.”
Meng Yisong waved his hand and said casually, “Can’t I just do it for free? I’m good at this. Come, let me show you how to do it!”
He said he was going to show them how, but in reality, he just did it himself. He was indeed very skilled and finished it in no time.
The young master gave Meng Yisong a thumbs-up, then followed him out, placed the tomato on a tree outside, and pulled Meng Yisong’s sleeve, shouting, “Look over there! There’s a tomato! It’s unclaimed! Whoever picks it up can keep it!”
Meng Yisong didn’t expect this bonus, so he suppressed his laughter and picked up the tomato.
The program staff: ???
Is that okay?
Under the staff’s stunned gaze, the young master made a funny face at them.
Meng Yisong turned his head to meet Shi Jingge’s “sly smile” and laughed so hard he couldn’t stand up straight.
The young master looked at him in confusion. “What are you laughing at?”
Meng Yisong waved his hands vigorously and stammered, “You’re so cute, I couldn’t help it.“
The young master frowned. ”How can you call a man cute? You should say handsome and charming, don’t you know that?”
Meng Yisong hit the tree twice. ”Okay, handsome… and charming.”
Meng Yisong gave him a thumbs up, and the young master was finally satisfied, but the next second, he sighed deeply.
Meng Yisong asked, “What’s wrong?”
“Why didn’t I think of this sooner?” the young master said regretfully. “If I had thought of it earlier, I could have caught two more fish and let everyone just pick them up.”
Meng Yisong was taken aback, feeling a bit uneasy inside. Wei Zhiyun had schemed against the young master, yet Shi Jingge was still thinking about sharing the fish with him.
This truly revealed the difference in their character.
Meng Yisong’s admiration for Shi Jingge grew even more. “Don’t worry,” he said, pointing to the staff members nearby. “Let’s not even talk about whether we can catch any fish. Just look at the greedy looks on their faces. Who knows who’ll end up getting them? There are so many, we can’t possibly compete with them all!”
Shi Jingge nodded in agreement.
The audience in front of the live stream were laughing hysterically.
How could these two be so clueless together?
After sending Meng Yisong away, the young master returned to his home and joined Wen Xusheng in his battle against the kitchen.
Since Wen Xusheng had never used an earthen stove or huge woks before, his several days of preparation were completely useless. The young master was even worse. They spent hours in the kitchen and ended up making fools of themselves.
When they were cleaning the fish, the young master lost his composure when he got fish scales all over his face, which was captured in a series of memes.
Moreover, this was during lunchtime, and many people were watching the live stream while eating. There were quite a few who laughed so hard they spilled their food.
Finally, the two managed to eat their lunch, completely exhausted. However, the dishes on the table had nothing to do with the three words “color, aroma, and taste.”
Shi Jingge immediately showed a look of disgust. Wen Xusheng reached out with his chopsticks to try a dish, but the young master stopped him with his own chopsticks.
Wen Xusheng froze for a moment, looking over in confusion. The live stream was also filled with question marks.
Mr. Troll knew this was the perfect time to stir things up, but for some reason, he felt too listless to move.
“I’ll try it.” The young master carefully picked up a piece with his chopsticks and froze.
Wen Xusheng cleared his throat. “How is it?”
The young master swallowed and said, “It tastes good. I like it. This plate is mine.” He moved the plate in front of him and tasted the tomato and egg stir-fry. Frowning, he said, “This isn’t good. You can have it.”
He tried every dish, placing the ones he liked in front of himself and pushing the ones he didn’t like toward Wen Xusheng.
His domineering attitude and serious demeanor caused more and more question marks to appear in the live stream, and the rhythm-setting comments started rolling in.
Mr. Troll recognized him immediately—it was one of his colleagues.
At this moment, teaming up with a colleague for a job was exactly what he needed.
But Mr. Troll still didn’t make a move. He just felt exhausted.
Somewhere deep down, he had a premonition. A reversal was coming.
Just then, the young master stood up and said, “I’ll go get some water.”
With that, he walked toward the living room, his steps a little unsteady.
Wen Xusheng extended his chopsticks, picked up the dish the young master had been avoiding, and put it into his mouth. Within two seconds, he pulled out a tissue from his pocket. With an elegant attitude and a calm expression, he opened his mouth and spat out the dish.
It was too salty and bitter, and it was still undercooked.
The next second, Wen Xusheng also rushed into the living room.
>>I knew the young master’s expression was off. That thing didn’t look like something good to eat.<<
>>If that’s not love.<<
>>It’s because Wen Ge has a history of stomach issues, right? That’s why he tried each one himself, giving the edible ones to Wen Ge and keeping the inedible ones for himself.<<
>>Damn it, from now on, whoever dares to call the young master arrogant, spoiled, and self-centered, I’ll throw this clip in their face! Is there anyone cuter or better than the young master? Waaah, I’m about to cry.<<
>>I approve of this marriage. Really.<<
As expected.
Mr. Troll looked at the comments and revealed an expression that was a mix of amused indifference and despair.
Reversing the story like that, and it didn’t even take five minutes!
His colleagues still lack knowledge. Unlike him, they were inexperienced.
For the first time ever, Mr. Troll felt a sense of pride. The next second, he froze in place. “Ahhhhh, I’m not proud of anything!”
In the evening, the program crew sent the guests to a small forest behind the mountain to search for treasure.
Only the guests who found the “pass” were allowed to return, and they would receive gifts in order of their arrival.
The director read out the “rules” with great emotion:
“This is a magical forest bathed in moonlight, hiding countless treasures. Of course, there are also traps designed to protect these treasures. Everything you rely on for survival is hidden within this forest. Come on, heroes! For survival, avoid the traps, find the treasures, and return to your home!”
The scene fell silent.
The director calmly put away the cue cards and smiled. “Do you have any questions?”
“Yes.” Shi Jingge raised his hand and asked earnestly, “Could you repeat that in words we can understand?”
A few guests tilted their heads and laughed.
Wen Xusheng ruffled the young master’s hair and explained, “What he means is that all the ingredients we need for tomorrow’s breakfast are hidden here. Whether we can eat tomorrow’s breakfast depends on whether we can find them.
“But we can’t just take these things for free, so the production team has set up traps. If we fall into the traps, there will be consequences—most likely we’ll have to hand over the ingredients.” After a pause, Wen Xusheng summarized, “In other words, after this treasure hunt, we might even end up paying out of our own pockets.”
The young master: “…”
A few seconds later, Shi Jingge turned to the director and said earnestly, “Director.”
The director looked up at him. “Hmm?”
“You’re a true business genius!” The young master raised his thumb. “You’re really wasting your talent here!”
The director remained silent for a few seconds. “Thank you.”
The young master said earnestly, “So, how about switching jobs? My brother would definitely like you! I’ll introduce you to him. Please spare us. Our ingredients are already scarce—so scarce it’s pitiful!”
To emphasize how scarce the ingredients were, the young master even gestured to illustrate.
“That’s right, director! Let us off the hook!” Meng Yisong also chimed in, and everyone joined in the chorus, though it was all in vain.
Wei Zhiyun glanced over this way and happened to meet Wen Xusheng’s gaze. His heartbeat suddenly quickened, but seeing that Wen Xusheng’s expression was unchanged, he finally relaxed.
It seemed that Wen Xusheng still didn’t know about this morning’s incident.
Or maybe he did, but didn’t care.
After all, Wen Xusheng had won so many international awards. Acting was his forte; fooling Shi Jingge and the live-streaming audience was child’s play for him. Thinking this, Wei Zhiyun’s heart settled.
This nighttime treasure hunt was filled with endless fun, but the only thing Wei Zhiyun found regrettable was not encountering Shi Jingge.
However, their group had already obtained their passes early on, and since they didn’t have much food, they weren’t in a hurry to leave.
But as they turned around, they encountered Shi Jingge and Wen Xusheng’s group.
Wei Zhiyun smiled and greeted the two of them.
Wen Xusheng nodded, pulled Shi Jingge, and ran off. “Let’s go! They also have passes. With the passes, we can choose to leave. Depending on the order we leave, we can go to the production team to exchange them for gifts. Let’s go for first place.
“This treasure hunt in the dense forest is a trap. There are probably more traps than treasures. Continuing this is a waste of time. We might as well pin our hopes on the gifts from the program organizers. Then we can rest a little longer.”
Wen Xusheng’s voice, carried by the cool night breeze, echoed faintly in Wei Zhiyun’s ears.
Wei Zhiyun slapped his forehead, realizing that Wen Xusheng had a point. Plus, interacting with him could boost his popularity and gain more followers!
“Wait for us, Wen Ge!”
“Give us a chance, Wen Ge!”
“Wen Ge!”
Wen Xusheng pulled the young master along, hearing the voices behind him. A cold gleam flashed in his eyes.
The two groups ran up to the staff members one after the other, demanding to leave. After confirming their identities, the staff members gave them small gifts.
Of course, they weren’t food.
Using common sense, it was obvious that the treasure in this treasure hunt was food, so why would the small gifts be food?
They were two plush toys.
Wen Xusheng and Shi Jingge’s group came in first place, so they received the larger plush toys.
Wei Zhiyun’s group came in second place and received smaller plush toys.
Wei Zhiyun: “…”
Wei Zhiyun felt like he had really lost his mind just now.
The young master, however, loved the plush toy and wouldn’t let go of it. Seeing Shi Jingge’s expression, Wei Zhiyun felt even more annoyed. When facing Shi Jingge, his hostility always came out faster.
Both groups slowly walked back, and the live streams on both sides gradually shut down.
Wen Xusheng and Jingge’s house was closer, so they arrived quickly. The group waved goodbye, but after the young master entered the house, Wen Xusheng glanced at Wei Zhiyun and slowly walked toward him.
Wei Zhiyun felt a bit overwhelmed by the attention.
Wen Xusheng stood in front of him, his tone casual. “Next time, just come find me. Don’t bully Xiao Ge.”
Wei Zhiyun: ???
Damn, is this what they call backing someone up?
—– —— ——
Author’s note: Wei Zhiyun: Give me back my feeling of being flattered!
Comment: >>I approve of this marriage<<
Wen Xusheng: I hope that was Shi Rongqing who said that.
Shi Rongqing: ???
Shi Rongqing: Not even in your dreams 🙂
Thank you all so much for your support! I’ll keep working hard!

I’ve recently started a website, the information you offer on this website has helped me greatly. Thank you for all of your time & work.
I do love the manner in which you have presented this specific problem plus it does indeed present us some fodder for thought. Nonetheless, coming from just what I have experienced, I really wish when the actual responses pack on that people stay on point and in no way get started upon a tirade involving some other news du jour. Yet, thank you for this fantastic point and though I can not necessarily concur with the idea in totality, I regard your standpoint.
I enjoy your work, regards for all the useful articles.
Excellent read, I just passed this onto a colleague who was doing a little research on that. And he just bought me lunch since I found it for him smile Therefore let me rephrase that: Thanks for lunch!
Wonderful blog! I found it while searching on Yahoo News. Do you have any suggestions on how to get listed in Yahoo News? I’ve been trying for a while but I never seem to get there! Many thanks
Great line up. We will be linking to this great article on our site. Keep up the good writing.
