Chapter 53: I’ve Come to Get You
The sound of the wind beating against the window woke Qin Luzhi up.
It was raining today, and heavily. Looking up, the sky was dark and heavy; you couldn’t tell at all that it was daytime.
Qin Luzhi’s head felt a bit fuzzy. He hadn’t slept well last night. One of the buttons on his pajamas had come undone.
His hair, not yet styled, was a bit messy. His eyes were barely open, carrying the drowsy laziness of someone not fully awake.
Qin Luzhi had a slight case of morning grumpiness, and his handsome face showed a strong sense of aggression and pressure.
Fortunately, he was the only one in the room.
Qin Luzhi disliked rainy days. They made him feel irritable, and the air was always damp.
But today was different. He saw a familiar figure standing under a pavilion not far away.
The curtain of rain was like silk. The moment the young man appeared, he outshone all the beauty in the world.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Qin Luzhi grabbed an umbrella from by the door and ran out, heading in that direction.
The rain was too heavy. Even standing in the pavilion, Shen Bumian was still getting a little wet from the rain blowing in. The pavilion wasn’t very large.
Just as he was thinking about calling someone to pick him up, he heard the sound of footsteps.
“Shen Bumian.”
He looked up and saw Qin Luzhi, dressed in a black shirt, standing on the steps holding a pure black umbrella.
The early-waking Alpha’s aggressive aura had not yet completely dissipated. His voice, perhaps a bit hoarse from not being fully awake, was extremely alluring.
Shen Bumian just watched as Qin Luzhi walked towards him. Qin Luzhi didn’t step into the pavilion; he stopped on the steps.
Qin Luzhi was too tall. Even standing on the steps, there was a sense of him looking down from a greater height.
However, Shen Bumian watched with his own eyes as Qin Luzhi bent down slightly, lowering his head, and tilted the black umbrella in his hand towards the pavilion.
“I’ve come to get you.”
Because of Qin Luzhi’s action, the black umbrella was tilted completely towards Shen Bumian, blocking the slanting rain and also blocking his line of sight.
Only when part of Qin Luzhi’s back was already soaked did Shen Bumian snap back to his senses. Qin Luzhi had held this position without moving, waiting for him.
Shen Bumian pursed his lips, suppressing an unknown emotion in his heart, and stepped under the umbrella. Qin Luzhi didn’t pull the umbrella back; it remained tilted towards Shen Bumian.
This time, half of the Alpha’s shoulder also got wet.
Shen Bumian reminded Qin Luzhi that he didn’t have to do that, but Qin Luzhi didn’t listen to him, only asking why he was here.
Shen Bumian did his best to ignore the soaked parts of the Alpha. “I came to deliver a chip to my brother. He needs it for his business trip.”
Shen Yi was going to the Third Planet on a business trip for a few days. He had left in a hurry and forgotten to take a very important chip for the trip. All the necessary data was stored on it.
This was a mistake that Shen Yi should not have made. The blame lay with an attack that had occurred a few days ago when Qin Yang went to find Shen Yi. Shen Yi had accidentally been caught in the crossfire.
By a strange twist of fate, Shen Yi had blocked a spiritual attack for Qin Yang. Coupled with the fact that Shen Yi’s susceptibility period was imminent, his spiritual power had gone into a rampage right then and there, and it had to be forcibly suppressed by the Shen family.
This was what had led to Shen Yi’s injury and his somewhat chaotic and turbulent spiritual power, which caused him to make a mistake this morning.
As for why he was still going on a business trip while injured, that could be attributed to Shen Yi’s workaholic nature.
According to him, he still had to earn star coins to raise his little brother. Shen Bumian’s attempts to persuade him were useless. At most, he would agree at the time, and then secretly go on the trip anyway.
Shen Bumian happened to have nothing to do today, and his home wasn’t far from where Shen Yi was, so he had personally gone to deliver the chip. But halfway there, it had started to rain heavily, so he had no choice but to find a place to take shelter.
After just a minute or two, he was already getting hit by the rain; it was simply too heavy.
The family driver should have been awake by now. Just as he was about to make a call to have someone pick him up, Qin Luzhi appeared. Shen Bumian had no idea it was such a coincidence; that the Qin family actually lived in this area.
Shen Bumian had never been to the Qin residence, nor had he ever looked up their address. He hadn’t expected their two families to live so close to each other.
But on second thought, it made sense. This area was considered the wealthy district of the empire.
Qin Luzhi glanced sideways at the omega, whose hair was a bit messy. “You can wait at my place first. I’ll deliver it for you.”
This was indeed the most time-efficient method, as the Qin residence was just a short distance ahead. The vicinity was all private residences, belonging to the rich and noble, all of whom had private starships. Therefore, there were no star-rail trains.
It was just that, this chip…
Qin Luzhi knew Shen Bumian’s concerns. “I’ll deliver it personally. It’ll be quick, I won’t waste any time.”
It was too much trouble for Qin Luzhi, but there was no better way. Shen Bumian gave the chip to him, and after taking Shen Bumian to his house, Qin Luzhi rushed off to Shen Yi’s location.
Shen Bumian didn’t even have time to call out to him. He stood in the entryway, a little at a loss. Even though the umbrella had been mostly over his head, he had still gotten a little wet.
But it was much better than Qin Luzhi’s daredevil dash.
He looked down at the carpet, which had been soaked by his shoes from the quilt, and hesitated. He looked around and saw no spare shoes to change into.
And this carpet in the Qin residence was very expensive and difficult to clean. Qin Luzhi had already left, and Shen Bumian didn’t know if anyone else from the Qin family was home.
He scanned the area and didn’t seem to see anyone else. Shen Bumian pursed his lips and stood still.
Just as he turned around, intending to open the door and leave, Shen Bumian felt something grab his pant leg, and then he was pulled forward with an uncontrollable force.
Shen Bumian was startled. He turned around and looked down at the suddenly-appeared robot, feeling as if it were a dream.
“Hello, my name is Chen Shuang. I am the Qin family’s robot. May I ask if I should address you as ‘Madam’?”
Shen Bumian was dumbfounded. What was it saying?
The moment Chen Shuang activated, it detected the pheromone fluctuations from the young master’s body yesterday. It immediately ran downstairs excitedly. When it got close to the omega, its processor nearly crashed.
On this beautiful omega, it sensed the residual energy of the young master’s pheromones, making it even more certain that this was the Qin family’s young madam.
It was just that the young madam seemed to be planning to leave, and the master was nowhere to be found. As the young master’s faithful servant, it felt that it should entertain the young madam properly.
Chen Shuang pulled Shen Bumian away from the door. Shen Bumian thought it was trying to pull him to the sofa to sit down and was about to refuse, but then he realized the direction was not quite right.
Chen Shuang was trying to pull him upstairs.
????
What kind of maneuver was this? Shen Bumian subconsciously tried to break free from its mechanical arm, but… he couldn’t move it. It was completely immobile.
Shen Bumian fell into self-doubt. Had he become this weak? He couldn’t even break free from a robot that wasn’t even half his height.
Shen Bumian tried to reason with it. “I’ll just go sit on the sofa.”
But Chen Shuang politely refused his request and, brooking no argument, pulled him up to the third floor.
Chen Shuang looked at the bedroom door, which Qin Luzhi had forgotten to close in his haste to leave. Its emotionless mechanical eyes seemed to brighten.
It pulled Shen Bumian right in, as naturally as if it were entering its own room.
Shen Bumian’s eyes flew wide open. This was a bedroom, and obviously one that was lived in. It must belong to someone in the Qin family.
It was easy for Shen Bumian to guess that this was Qin Luzhi’s bedroom. And at this moment, with his shoes still dripping water, he was standing so presumptuously in an Alpha’s bedroom.
Shen Bumian didn’t know much about Alphas; after all, he had always studied omega-related subjects.
But that didn’t stop him from knowing very clearly that every Alpha was extremely repulsed by others stepping into their territory.
A place as private as a bedroom was even more so an Alpha’s private domain.
If He Jing were here, he would definitely know that even Qin Zui and the other two rarely entered Qin Luzhi’s room, because he had a very strong sense of territory.
And at this moment, not only had Shen Bumian entered, but he was also pushed by Chen Shuang. Losing his footing, he accidentally fell onto Qin Luzhi’s bed.
The black bedsheets were soaked where Shen Bumian had gotten them wet, leaving a small wet patch.
