Mischna’s Spiritual Body: Related Information

In addition to writing daily analyses of his Spiritual Body’s behavior, Mischna was also required to undergo monthly checkups at the National Guide Research Center. The person responsible for tracking his Spiritual Body’s reports was Professor Tanggula, affectionately nicknamed ‘Old Mother’.

Professor Tanggula, being elderly, often reminisced about the past. After studying the curve analysis generated by the Rapp Instrument for a while, he sighed, “I still remember when you first came here for your Spiritual Body examination. Your Spiritual Body hadn’t even grown all its feathers yet.”

Mischna neither confirmed nor denied the ‘hadn’t even grown all its feathers yet’ remark. By the time Professor Tanggula first saw his Spiritual Body, it was already fully mature, with lush wings and flowing tail feathers, though slightly smaller in size. During the period between a Guide’s Awakening Period and full maturity, their Spiritual Body gradually develops from its nascent state into its adult form. As both of Mischna’s parents were Guides, his own Awakening as a Guide was something everyone expected.

When Mischna first awakened, no one considered him special. However, he soon demonstrated extraordinary abilities in various areas. For instance, he completed three years’ worth of Sentinel-Guide foundational knowledge in just one year—a rare but not unheard-of feat. Subsequently, at Guide School, Mischna excelled in every course involving Mental Power. This wasn’t surprising; every cohort typically produced one or two prodigies who left others in their wake. Yet, strangely, after Mischna’s Guide development period concluded, diagnostic instruments classified his Spiritual Body as ‘unidentifiable’.

After a Guide awakens, their accompanying Spiritual Body assumes a fixed form. As the Guide matures, the Spiritual Body undergoes minor changes, maintaining its category while its order, family, and species fluctuate in accordance with the Guide’s Mental Power fluctuations. Upon reaching adulthood, specialized instruments are used to determine the Spiritual Body’s precise classification.

Mischna’s Spiritual Body, however, could not be categorized.

It’s widely known that smaller bird-type Spiritual Bodies typically indicate hosts with specialized abilities like eavesdropping or tracking, but such Guides generally possess weaker Mental Power. Yet Mischna’s Mental Power was exceptionally strong.

Modrin’s Mental Power surpassed even that of his his predecessor[mfn]青出於藍,而勝於藍 (qīng chū yú lán, ér shèng yú lán): lit. the color blue is made out of indigo, but is better than indigo; the student surpasses the teacher. Synonym of 青出於藍,而青於藍 (qīng chū yú lán, ér qīng yú lán), lit. the color blue is made out of indigo, but is more vivid than indigo; (Proverb) the student has surpassed his or her teacher. This proverb is a common saying that describes how a person can improve through learning or education. It is often used to describe a student surpassing their teacher or a successor surpassing their predecessor. From Xunzi: 君子曰:學不可以已。,取之於藍而青於藍;冰,水為之,而寒於水。, The gentleman said: Learning must never cease. Blue is obtained from the indigo plant but is bluer than the plant itself; ice is made from water but is colder than water itself.[/mfn]. From childhood to adulthood, countless guides attempted to help him sort out his mental state, but none succeeded in breaking through his mental barrier. To date, only Madam Shirlefs and Mischna had managed to do so.

Initially, Professor Tanggula and his colleagues theorized that the success might be related to the Sentinel-Guide’s familiarity, given Modrin and Mischna had known each other since childhood. Later, Mischna helped several Sentinels recover from mental disorders, and to this day, there remains no Mental Barrier he cannot break through.

Based on the form of Mischna’s Spiritual Body, Professor Tanggula initially identified it as a Fire-tailed sunbird[mfn]火尾太陽鳥 (huǒ wěi tài yáng niǎo): The fire-tailed sunbird (Aethopyga ignicauda) is a species of sunbird in the family Nectariniidae. Its natural habitats are temperate forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. Males reach a length of 15 cm. including their long tail; females are about two-thirds that length.
Fire-tailed sunbird[/mfn]. However, he later revised his assessment, suggesting it might be a mutated variant of the species. After years of exhaustive research, he still couldn’t explain why Mischna’s Spiritual Body appeared weak despite his extraordinary Mental Power.

After reminiscing about the past, Professor Tanggula administered an inhibitor shot to Mischna. “You’ll be entering bonding heat within the next two days. Remember to carry your inhibitors at all times and be cautious around Sentinels with a compatibility rating exceeding fifty percent, as they could trigger bonding heat symptoms.”

Mischna nodded, took the new volume of the Spiritual Body Behavior Analysis Report, and went home.

Modrin had recently attended a closed-door training session. Before leaving, he had repeatedly reminded Mischna of his return date, which, according to the calendar, was supposed to be tomorrow. However, when Mischna arrived home, he found Modrin lying fully clothed on the sofa, his brow furrowed in deep sleep.

Just as Mischna was wondering why Modrin had returned early, Modrin abruptly sat up, alert. Seeing it was Mischna, he relaxed and fell back onto the sofa.

Mischna walked over to the sofa. “Weren’t you supposed to be back tomorrow?”

Modrin wrapped his arms around Mischna, pressing close against his waist and abdomen, and whined: “The training intensity was so high this time, my head hurts.”

Mischna immediately extended his mental threads, intending to help Modrin soothe his mental black spots. But in his haste, he forgot he was about to enter bonding heat period. The moment his mental threads broke through Modrin’s mental barrier, a surge of overwhelming pleasure swept through him. His legs buckled, and he collapsed onto Modrin.

Modrin quickly caught Mischna, his earlier exhaustion and weakness vanishing instantly. His eyes gleamed with golden light. “Little Mi-Mi-Misch, are you entering bonding heat?”

Mischna had never experienced such a sensation before. It felt as if his consciousness were wrapped in a down comforter in an air-conditioned room in summer, or as if he were soaking lazily in a hot spring during winter, languid and warm. “It should still be a few days… Professor Tanggula even gave me a suppressant shot today. Right, I have suppressants in my pocket…”

Modrin hastily rummaged through Mischna’s pockets and pulled out three suppressant shots. Under Mischna’s gaze, he tossed them far away, declaring cheerfully, “I told you, with our compatibility, I could induce bonding heat in you even before your natural cycle begins.”

Mischna withdrew his mental threads. Though the aftereffects of the bonding heat hadn’t fully subsided, he recognized the symptoms—rapid breathing and a feverish flush.

Modrin pulled Mischna into his arms, pressed his hand against the back of his neck, and kissed him deeply. “It’s been twenty-nine full days,” Modrin murmured, his kisses tracing a path from the corner of Mischna’s lips, his breathing growing heavier with each caress. He kissed him thoroughly, then returned to the center of his lips, his tongue darting out to part Mischna’s unresisting lips. “I’ve missed you so much.”

Mischna occasionally let out a soft moan, which Modrin immediately silenced with another kiss.

Mischna, cradling Modrin’s head, managed to gasp for breath. “Your mental black spot…”

Modrin swept Mischna into his arms. “My mom’s out on business. You’re the only one who can soothe me.” He strode into Mischna’s room in two long strides.

Before Mischna could catch his breath, he was tossed onto the bed.

During bonding heat, Guides who encounter Sentinels with a compatibility rating of 50% or higher will experience bonding heat symptoms. If they receive a suppressant injection in time, they’ll be fine. However, entering a Sentinel’s mental world during this state inevitably triggers mental bonding.

Modrin knelt by the bed, one leg bent, his weight supported by the other. Mischna took a deep breath, gazing up at Modrin. After nearly a month of training, Modrin had grown even leaner, his features more pronounced. A mix of excitement and anticipation played on his lips, which were slightly moist. Mischna knelt up, reaching out to unbutton Modrin’s shirt, one button at a time. Modrin’s chest rose and fell rapidly.

Mischna unbuttoned the shirt all the way to Modrin’s waistband. Hooking his index finger through the belt loop, he declared with certainty, “You’ve been planning this for a while.”

Modrin was suddenly dumbfounded. “What? How could I possibly know when your bonding heat would hit?”

Mischna calmly listed his reasons, one by one: “Not only did you come back early, but you also remembered to shave, get a haircut, and take a shower before coming to my house.” He leaned closer, sniffed, and looked up. “And you even changed into new clothes?”

Modrin: “……”

Modrin, flustered and enraged, retorted, “I couldn’t possibly come see you unshaven, with my hair a mess, unkempt, and smelling like sweat after training! If you wanted to get hands-on with me, you might not have been able to bring yourself to touch me after seeing my ghostly state from training!”

With a click, Mischna unbuckled his belt. Modrin immediately grabbed Mischna’s hand, which was reaching for his zipper, his face flushed crimson. His shirt hung half-open, and his pants were partially unbuttoned. Modrin shoved Mischna away, his movements nothing like the deliberate slowness with which Mischna had undressed him. In the blink of an eye, Mischna’s clothes vanished under Modrin’s hands.

Overwhelmed with excitement, Modrin inadvertently released his big black snake, which frantically searched for Mischna’s Spiritual Body.

Under Modrin’s kisses and licks, Mischna released his Spiritual Body. Modrin snatched the bird that appeared on the bed and tossed it out the door, confident the big black snake would catch it. Ignoring them both, he gripped Mischna’s ankle and slowly, persistently thrust into him.

Modrin tried several positions, having Mischna sit on his lap and hold him close. Afraid Mischna was cold, he draped his own shirt over him, his hands caressing Mischna’s slender, supple waist: “Come in.”

Mischna wrapped his arms around Modrin’s neck and entered his mental world. As the bonding heat fully erupted, his whole body instantly went limp, waves of desire surging through him like wind through a bamboo forest, rising and falling in rhythmic swells. Modrin caught him just in time, Mischna’s panting breath hot against the hollow of Modrin’s neck. Modrin paused his movements below, wrapping his arms tightly around Mischna’s waist and tilting his head to kiss his temple, his voice firm and unwavering: “Open your mental world to me.”

Guides also possessed mental worlds, but Sentinels couldn’t enter them—except during the mental bonding that occurred during bonding heat.

Mischna guided Modrin’s mental threads into his mental world. The moment Modrin entered, darkness flooded Mischna’s vision, his body trembling uncontrollably from the overwhelming stimulation. His mouth gaped open, but no sound escaped. Earlier, he had managed to cry out with each thrust, but now he couldn’t even catch his breath.

Mischna couldn’t recall how long that relentless sensation had lasted. When he regained consciousness, he found himself back in Modrin’s mental world. The small wooden cabin had transformed into a bamboo hut, its entrance shadowed by swaying bamboo leaves.

Modrin called out softly, “Misch, wake up.”

The flush around Mischna’s eyes lingered. Modrin leaned in and kissed him. “I’ve modified some parts of my mental world based on the appearance of your mental world. Do you like it?”

Mischna opened his mouth, his voice hoarse and fragmented, barely audible. “I… I like it.”

However, Modrin heard him clearly. He joyfully wrapped his arms around Mischna’s waist, lifting him up and down. The lingering effects of their mental bonding, combined with Modrin’s physical thrusts, made Mischna whimper. For the first time, he truly felt the stark differences between a Sentinel’s and a Guide’s physical constitution.

Having tasted his first carnal pleasure, Modrin was insatiable, inventing new positions as he went. When Mischna finally awoke, he wished he could have remained unconscious.

Lying beside him, Modrin beamed with satisfaction, eager for praise. “I bathed you, applied ointment, and even fed you rice cereal[mfn]米糊糊 (mǐ hú hu): Rice cereal is the name commonly given to industrially manufactured baby food based on rice.
Rice cereal[/mfn].”

Mischna remembered none of it.

Modrin hugged Mischna close, his voice conspiratorial. “So, when should we do this again?”

Mischna was astonished by Modrin’s stamina and firmly refused.

But when he opened the door, Mischna was shocked again. He saw a bird the size of a cat struggling to grip the big black snake’s body, managing only to seize the tip of its tail. The bird flapped wildly in the air, while the snake allowed itself to be held, its rear half dangling in mid-air as its front half coiled around the staircase.

Mischna: “…How did my Spiritual Body get so big?”

Modrin beamed proudly. “It must be because I’ve been feeding it so well.”

Mischna glanced back at the messy bed.

What exactly had Modrin been feeding it? The implication was unmistakable.
